Cleanliness: Establishment is always clean, most of my appointments are early morning when you unlock your doors; I'm waiting in the parking lot. I see how the Establishment was at the end of the last work day.

The customer service at this place is excellent; however, the prices are outrageous. I understand inflation impacts us all, but $30 for underarm waxing is simply ridiculous. Perhaps it feels like a lot to me because I don't have much hair, but I'm not willing to pay that much. Lesson learned: I'll inquire about prices before getting a service done. The Lounge down the street only charges $18, which is much more reasonable. I never expected Lisa's to charge $30, so I went in without hesitation. Next time, I'll stick to The Lounge for my underarm waxing.

Went here with a dear friend and peer to get much-needed pedicures. We are both disabled women with different disabilities. I haven’t had a pedicure since March 2020. I kinda let a lot of stuff go physically in the pandemic, and focused on family and work. She proposed we get pedicures together. As we now live near each other, I remembered this salon in Emeryville near my local Trader Joe’s shopping Center, next to a Bev-Mo. There was disabled parking near the shop, and we were able to get a space. We went on a Monday afternoon, so the shop was able to take us in as walk-ins, right away. I use a walker as a mobility aid, my friend uses a tipped cane to help guide her to spaces. As disability advocates and professionals with personal and educational awareness of disability access in the personal services industry, we both believe in the importance of being open about what inclusion looks like in the community where we live, work, and spend money.
We were able to get into the door, were friendly greeted and told there was space for us both to be seen. There was a client getting hair done in a chair, and another getting a mani-pedi.
You have to sign in with your phone number and name on a tablet, and select the services you want. My friend could not see the screen and the interface for the app didn’t appear to have the adaptive measure of being allowed to speak your answers or any technical visual assistive measures to help someone with visual disabilities make the appointment. (From a UX standpoint, people with dyslexia, unable to read written language, or don’t know English also would require this same feature in order to autonomously provide the information needed, as well.) I filled in her information, but the person at the register would also have entered in the information for her, if asked.
We had chairs next to each other, so got to talk and catch up. There was no heavy scent of polish, nor artificial fragrance(my friend has a scent allergy and sensitivity to smells, and can’t take perfumes, incense, or those plug-ins.). My friend doesn’t like for people to grab her elbow to guide her without asking her. When you can’t see someone and suddenly hands are on your body unexpectedly, it’s triggering. Disabled adults have agency over their bodies and touch needs to be communicated and consensual. She was able to relay this verbally to the tech as she was led to her chair. I collapsed my walker up and tucked it inna space behind the spa chair. I was able to transfer into the chair without struggle. It was a vibrating massage chair, which was nice.
I decided to get the deluxe gel manicure and pedicure. If I I had time, I would have splurged on the spa one- next time! You get a glass of wine, green tea, or water with this treatment. I got green tea. It comes with a callous remover, foot scrub, paraffin wax treatment, and hot stone massage. It was absolute heaven. My aching calves and feet wanted to sing from the relief they received!!
As I mentioned, it had been 4 years since my last nail salon visit. I tried doing them myself, spent a lot of money on Amazon trying to DIY- and failed miserably. The technician snipped yucky crusty skin off around my arthritic hammertoes, and electric-drill filed these multi-layered burnt looking toe-nails (yeah, psoriatic arthritis kinda does a number on the feet and fingers) I picked a sparkly blue color, and they look gorgeous!
Self-care is often seen as an indulgence and luxury service, when it’s really a necessity. We should acknowledge the physical and mental health benefits that come with taking care of your body, and the way your self-esteem lifts when you feel you are taking care of yourself.
I was happily surprised at how affordable everything was. Before tip- it was less than $140 for both of us. As my friend got the absolute basic pedicure and no gel, hers was only $25, so I treated her. It was her idea-and I was grateful. Definitely coming back t

I had my pedicure done almost two months ago and since then I've been fighting a really bad infection on my big toe due to ingrown. I've been in so much pain. Can't wear shoes , can't even sleep at night. I've never had such problem.

I just paid $60 for a 24 minute mani/pedi with cold water. This was the worst, most unrelaxing mani/pedi ever--virtually no massage, callous removal or any of the usual basics, and I didn't even want polish so they definitely had time. I'll never come here again. No quality control

It gave me the impression that they reused the plastic for the pedicure basin. So, I do not ask for pedicure service.
I never see them open a sealed package.

If I could put Minus STARS I would...Extra disappointed with several things ex: 1st. the cost of a color change is price gouged instead of $10, it cost $20 at Lisa' Beauty Center, and that's not including the tip of $10. I left the lady (Queh) who I assumed was genuinely Pleasant...on Wednesday 2nd. The Husband of Lisa rolled his eyes at me (twice) when Lisa, requested him to repair my toenail polish that was smudged, due to the him (the husband ) rushing me out because my toenails were not completely dry around closing time, 3rd I had to return again on (Thursday) the next day to have both baby toes re-polished, 4th I had to return the following day (Friday) due to the big toe on my right foot polish coming off and cracking in the center fifth when I approached the husband quietly I let him know and showed him the damage on the Polish and asked would it be possible for them to fix it he "we can fix only one toe and then you don't come back no more" I excuse Me, would you repeat that and why would you ask me to not return when your polish is insufficient and it's not due to any error of my own but because of the polish that you used and because you rushed me out the prior day" he repeated himself so now I'm out of $30!!! I want to return there and I want to warn people in advance of the horrible customer service, and the insufficient quality of the polish that is being used. I asked, could I bring my own OPI polish? I was told by the husband and wife Lisa team, they wouldn't allow me to bring my own polish! So, I am out of $30!!! The quality of service has gone down tremendously since the pandemic. I frequent their business often, and It saddens me the level of decline of service. I don't like to leave bad yelp, reviews however this situation needed to be shared! For example: the cost is double of anywhere else!! Price gouging is a crime! rushed service to leave out, horrible customer service, and being told in front of a 3/4 full Salon, that after I receive the next repair/service, I wasn't to come back again! it's enough to make you cringe, to no fault of my own, I was let down tremendously and infuriated. So the next day which is today, I decided my best course of interaction would be to leave a yelp review.

I’ve had the best haircuts and pedicures here. Every time I try another place I always come back to Lisa’s. Danny listens and gives the best haircuts. Thank you❣️

Manicure was incomplete, overpriced, and without all steps. No products used. No cuticle softener, cuticle oil, or massage lotion. No nipping around the sides/edges of the nail to remove skin/hangnails. Skip this place. Head to a reputable shop.
