“Discovering Maxwell's Pet Bar about a year ago has been a game-changer for our 12-year-old dog, Simon. Thanks to Jen and Kristi's expert guidance, we found the perfect raw food combination that has literally turned back the clock for him. He's more playful, enjoys his walks more, and overall, seems much younger. The transformation has been incredible to witness. I can't recommend Maxwell's Pet Bar enough. If you're looking to improve your pet's health and happiness, this is the place to start!”

“Excellent coop spot with a great selection of specialty products, especially herbs and house made olive oil.Would highly recommend it if you're in the area and want to pick up something like dark chocolate cherries or a local red wine. Also, notably a better spot to get certain spices like whole nutmegs”

“I love Berkeley Bowl because they have fabulous fruits and vegetables - - both organic and conventional. They are really on top of their produce. There are lots of people working there to keep it clean. They have discounted produce that is super ripe--ready to take home and use.I prefer going early in the morning when it's less crowded. I find their aisles to be rather narrow when someone is coming the opposite direction. It can be hard to socially distance in their isles. They have lots of variety. They have fresh fish (wild and farmed) and meat (organic and conventional). I have found the butchers to be friendly and helpful. If you are a senior, they will give you a good cup of coffee (part of my morning ritual if I am there in the morning). They have a very nice bakery if you have a sweet tooth.Their cheese section has cheese from around the world. Besides the bakery with wonderful tasting desserts, they have fresh bread. There deli has Asian foods, Mexican, and desserts. During Covid times--take out only. They clean their shopping carts between uses, and don't let too many people in at once. You put your own groceries into your own bag--unless you buy a paper bag and they then bag it for you.For me, it is kind of a cross between a coop and a large grocery store. I love what they have to offer!!!”

“If you don't already shop at The Food Mill, you should start. It's a health food store that's been in Oakland since 1933. My current obsession is their crunchy peanut butter. You get a giant jar for under $10. It's freshly ground, so fluffy, nothing is added, and no stirring is needed! They also have a thousand bulk items, hard to find ingredients, fresh baked treats, lots of tasty fake meats, and the staff is so lovely and helpful.”

“Pretty good products/prices.The store is actually hilarious in how carricaturish it is: the customers who shop there are sort of a south park stereotype of your typical Berkeleyan. I suspect UCB is doing human cloning!”

“I had a lovely experience here. Did nit know what i was coming for but wanted to explore the shop. The owner was very kind and welcoming. You can sign up for classes for late spring 2024 through their website. The owner has many teas and can help guide you for a possibly remedy (if you are experiencing parasites for example after a trip overseas) or something as simple as needing to boost your immune system to avoid being sick. He can also offer teas that help you retain supplements you take and if you are experiencing depression he will offer a 30min consultation for $45 prior to determining what herbs to prescribe you and to make sure they don't have a negative effect on medicine you might already be taking. *your teas have to seep 15 min prior to having them. He also makes a great lip balm and a lovely facial serum. Two tea sachets and one face serum cost me $70. I will definitely keep him in mind for future needs.”

“Nice market, but I got fresh pasta and it was gummy and didn't enjoy it. Also didn't have some items like sweetened coconut flakes which I thought it was strange.”

“So glad that we stumbled upon this place. They have crystals, trinkets, candles, as well various teas and homeopathic items. I personally suffer from PCOS and western medicine items such as BC and such do not work for me and so I wanted to check the homeopathic and natural way. They had 2 different teas to help with PCOS and as well a ground up root that you can sprinkle in your tea or food. I am on day 2 and so I will see if this starts to take affect in the next month or so! Crossing fingers.”

“This place isn't the cheapest, but it has healthy products, and with quality produce. The store is a bit crowded, but it has more shelves than you can imagine. The staff is kind, they have a wishlist that people can write into. I'll return for things here and there, I liked the place”

“Surprised at the wide gamut of reviews here on yelp-- overall a solid 4 stars when I came by the other day. The place was closed with a "will be back in 10 min" sign, which was not a big deal. Store itself was what you'd expect. Organized, clean, and staff was pretty helpful. Got the job done, no big complaints. Only real complaint would be lack of selection -- I'm used to going to vitamin places with wall to wall selection. This place is more focused in that there is 1-2 options for whatever you are looking for. Recommend this location. Staff is helpful, and location is good being on Market.”

“There's this girl that's short and have glasses and she's the mean one, she was very rude to my daughter and called her ugly but I get it she's is kinda ugly but the other employees were really sweet and nice AND RESPECTFUL, This employees her name is Alexa she's the sweetest and nicest person I've ever met gave my daughter a parfait for only $1 and she got happy because she loves parfait. They have great food in the store. They had great drinks and some are room temperature and some are cold . I wanted to give them a tip but there was no jar. Daniela she is the most amazing person in the store as well because she called my daughter pretty and she called my grandson cute. Daniela can keep my daughter because they look alike. She also gave me a free avocado because I didn't had enough money to buy it.I wanted to give Alexa and Daniela a huge huge big tip but like I said there was no jar. If it wasn't for them I would've give the store a 4 or a 3.Overall I'm going to rate this a 5.I won't let the girl with the glasses be rude my daughter and next time I see her I will talk with her manager.”

“Staff at fish market are fantastic: friendly and helpful. Checkers are hit and miss: even with computerized cash registers, some of the young ones can't make the correct change if the least but challenged...sad.”
