We came here looking for a pet boa, but they didn't have what we were looking for. I ended up getting a boa at another reptile store, and since they were having a father's day sell at the Serpentarium in Elk Grove I decided to buy the enclosure setup there. I asked the guy working there to help me out and suggest an enclosure setup for the yearling central american boa I was set to get. I should have done my own research first, but I depended on the "expert" at the Serpentarium to recommend the right things for me to buy. He set me up with an Exo Terra Xtra tall, Xtra large glass paludarium type enclosure, with an under tank heater and 60 watt ceramic heating element. This thing sucks at holding in temperature and humidity. It totally is not made for housing tropical snakes like boas. He also didn't recommend any kind of thermostat, so the under tank heater gets the glass up to 125+ degrees f. I did purchase a thermostat on Amazon after the fact and set it up, but the under tank heater is just bad at providing a basking spot, and the ceramic heating element is up so high on this 3 foot high enclosure that it does nothing basically. The screen top lets the humidity and heat just escape. I've done things to try and remedy the problems like covering up the screen top, but the thing just sucks. It's not intended for keeping boas. So, now I get to actually purchase a proper pvc enclosure like I should have from the get go, and I'm stuck with this huge glass POS that I paid over $300 for. Thanks Serpentarium!

Got my first corn snake with the help of Destiny! She was super nice and knowledgeable and was very willing to answer any and all questions I had. She also helped me get everything I needed for a proper enclosure setup.

Man, the prices were wrong i was going to get a gecko it said it was less with the set up included,
Was all good till the total came up to more than 500 dollars
FOR WHAT? A used tank and used accessories? No thanks.
The guy attending us smelled like weed and slurred his words like he was high off his mind not recommended to go. He had green vibrant hair

The place is awesome. Filled with cool and exciting creatures. I’ve gotten my bearded dragon and my red footed tortoise from here. They’re always so cool and friendly (the employees). Very knowledgeable and open to helping you out anyway you ask, any questions I’ve ever had about the reptiles and stuff they’ve answered. Great customer service. They have a lot of stuff for your creatures there too, such as tank decorations and food for everything. Pricing is pretty great too as far as any reptiles you want to purchase. If you’re looking for something, I’m sure they have it, or none the least they can help direct you to what you’re looking for. Must go!

Had gotten my ball python here about 2 weeks ago and I just found out today that she has mites. Found one crawling on her head and found at least 4 more, had to disinfect everything she's been on and it's been a nightmare considering I'm a new owner. I'm really unhappy, called the place and they gave me basic advice but I'm highly doubtful they're going to clean out the other enclosure of the 2 other snakes that were housed with her. Really really upset and disappointed ☹️
Edit: It's been a month or two, with a $200 vet bill and medication since getting my ball python because of a festering URI or upper respiratory infection, I would recommend being cautious shopping here, URI's are incredibly good at spreading throughout an entire collection so I don't doubt that most of the reptiles here have it. I've seen multiple of the pythons "stargazing" which is what snakes do when they have excessive fluids that they need to drain but can't. Really makes me upset for the animals, not to mention they sell Spider Ball python morphs there which are known to have intense neurological problems. (Hopefully this is a one time thing but I'm sure it's not since they're listed on their website) A positive of the place is that they have really cheap tanks but that would probably be the only reason I'd come back.

Feed for the animals has gone up to ridiculous price's in the last few years. Shouldn't have to be rich to feed our animals. Especially when I have bought so many animals which were hundreds each animal.

Love this place! Came in for the first time on Tuesday with my juvenile ball python who was having a tough time shedding. I wasn't sure what they could do for me to help her out but when I came into the store, I was greeted and welcomed with open arms. I had a gentleman named TAI help me and he took my snake and saved the day. He has great knowledge and customer service ! I'll definitely be a regular customer just because of him . Great place to go over all I love looking at the snakes and bearded dragons etc

Like the Roseville location not much of a selection, crowded and over priced.

I'm a new snake owner, I just bought my snake here last week. I noticed very quickly that my snake was infested with mites, thankfully I educated myself on snakes to know what to look out for. If not, my snake would be sick. If my snake has mites, the rest likely do as well. They wanted me to bring him in for a free consultation to "make sure" he really had mites. He definitely has it no question about it. In fear of bringing MORE mites into their shop, I decided to not bring him in. What help would that do? MAKE SURE YOU EXAMINE YOUR REPTILES BEFORE LEAVING WITH THEM! I learned the hard way and wasted over $100 because I had to throw out my brand new hides, substrate, etc. I am not happy, and neither is my snake because of all of the stress I've had to put him through to kill the mites.

I appreciate this place for showing me how to properly take care of a chameleon. I've been coming here frequently to buy my reptiles their food.

Favorite place to get feeders. I have two ball pythons that I normally get medium to large frozen rats for. I have purchased live in the past and I like that they are able to "gas" them for you, so I don't have to worry about the rats injuring my snakes.I would recommend calling ahead to see what/how many feeders they have in stock, if buying frozen. They can sometimes go fast.I got my first snake at a different location, but I find that every Serpentarium has friendly and knowledgeable staff. They were also able to tell me the sex of each of my snakes, with a small fee for the one I did not purchase from them.
