We have lived in the Stonelake sub division since its inception which means we have also had the pleasure of dealing with one egotistical and corrupt HOA board after another. Over the years we have just dealt with their ridiculous hypocrisy and laughed as they patted themselves on the back for wasting our HOA dues on their pet projects usually employing people who were either family members or friends. We were recently in a situation where we needed to remove two trees from our front yard due to top rooting which was causing damage to the adjacent concrete surfaces and utilities in our yard and the neighbors. We filled out applications, sent emails, called and were never able to get a written response from the board but did get verbal approval from a board member so we removed them. Within two days we received a notice from the board that this was a violation and that since it was done without prior approval we would be fined $250. The notice also emphasized the importance of completing an application to do what we had already done to avoid additional fines, which we again attempted. As of today we still have not received a response regarding our pending application but did get a notice letting us know we will be getting fined $100 per week until application is received and approved! I have come to the conclusion that HOA boards must be training for becoming a future politicians! They are all idiots!
