My first and last. I rented a car yesterday. I reserved a car for my liking but the car was not available at pickup time. One rep said I will get an upgrade with no extra charge. Another rep came 2 minutes later and said I will have to pay additional $15 per day. Then they downgraded my choice of car to a smaller car. I was very disappointed, manager was at the site but never resolved my situation professionally. I should have rented a car from the airport. I am better off there then this place.

Excellent, friendly service and a good selection of late-model cars, including some EVs. Roz processed both my pick-up and drop-off. She went out of her way to be helpful, providing service that was above and beyond!

Other than the fact that they don’t have a dropbox to return a vehicle on Sunday even though you indicate that gonna be return on Sunday, this location has good customer service.

He is in asian hate. He didn’t rent a car for us even though we prepared for it. Just yelled at us bc we were late for one minute. I called Hertz customer service and got a refund.

Read this in its entirety before using this location. You will likely lose several hours of your life unnecessarily should you book here. Last week, we stopped in to pick up a car we had booked earlier through our insurance agency. Roz had left a message stating the car was ready to be picked up anytime. Upon arriving, we walked in and were 3rd in line to speak with Roz. When we made it to her kiosk, in one of the more bizarre interactions in my adult life, she went out of her way to find any way possible to delay our ability to get our car. This included allowing 3 different people to walk up to drop off their car, and not require them to stand in line like everyone else was doing, and she would then help them, not the customer standing at her kiosk she had been working with (us). Then the phone would ring, and she'd again drop what she was doing with our rental and take a 5 minute phone call dealing with someone else, multiple times. After 20 minutes of getting nowhere at her kiosk, we were told our car wasn't ready yet and to take a seat. I then began reading all the reviews on here and realizing we were experiencing the exact same treatment so many others had complained about with Roz. I then step outside and call Enterprise to see about extending my current rental (as opposed to switching to Hertz as our insurance had requested) as I had already wasted an hour and a half at this point, and this insane woman follows me outside to my rental car, while I'm on the phone with Enterprise, and she exclaims from a distance "Excuse me! Hey! Is that an Enterprise car? You better get that car outta my lot!" and then turns around and marches back inside to the other customers who were experiencing similar behavior. I was shocked, and just giggled a bit on the phone with the enterprise agent... "you wont believe what is happening here at Hertz lol." There is no way she knew who I was calling when I stepped outside. The behavior was independent of that phone call, which is concerning. Anyway, to my relief Enterprise extended our rental without issue. I made the other people remaining in line aware of these reviews, and we left. I would avoid this place at all costs. It's not worth your time.

The computers down since this morning I tried calling but no one answers everytime it’s hours of wasted time we use this place a lot and it’s always something a delay they can get into the system the computers down or employees who don’t care about helping customers or even offering sone kind of discount for wasting hours and not being able to pick up the car they rented can I get my car today as promised it’s about to close no one answers the phone or cars why rent at hertz when they treat customers this way and can’t even rent out cars without problems or having to wait another day after your scheduled pick up I’m suppose to pick up today

Do not rent from this location they took 1500 dollars from me ! They took my money and say my rental never got extended through the Uber program ! Then they make me phone tag with billing and some guy named Kyle ! And Roz oh my lord , I get she means well but she is super unprofessional. I called her and told her my situation and she "UHHH I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY TO THAT" so if you didn't know , why couldn't you just direct me to the right person that could in the first place. I end up calling this Kyle guy who she referred too and he tells me the same thing that they never charged me for the week that I supposedly didn't pay. So how is $439 missing from my bank account hertz ? Then they say another charge of $1,179 is because I returned the rental late ? With no notice just a withdrawal from my account. Hertz is committing fraud don't ever rent through there Uber program. And please find new desk people, don't ever tell me not curse when I'm upset either Roz , I have every right to be upset especially with your customer service! Did anyone teach her customer service ? Seriously you call this location and she will answer the phone and then ignore you to talk to whoever is there in person . Ever heard of "Thank you for Calling Hertz in El Sobrante do you mind holding?" Please someone teach this women phone etiquette.

We rented a Tesla from this location and we used the Pre Pay method where you get a better rate if you pay up front. DO NOT pre pay. The car was not available and they couldn't guarantee the time, so the reservation was meaningless. They had one Tesla available but Uber drivers get priority so they gave it to the Uber driver. We decided to go with a gas car BUT we were LOCKED into the price we had paid. Whatever you do, DO NOT pre pay for your rental. We should have paid attention to all the one star reviews. This hertz office is awful - incompetent and disorganized.

Update: ken was great!!! If you have to call go- get Ken!!! I finally got a hold of someone and he was helpful- I also think he was the one who helped me after Rose refused.There are only 2 people there and if you have kids Rose was horrible. She refused to help us and told us to go elsewhere bc my 18mth old was touching items after waiting an hr patiently. I still haven’t had my deposit released and can’t actually reach a person when calling. The car hadn’t been washed and was filthy inside and out. Avoid at all costs.

Waited 1 hour and 20 minutes to get car I had a reservation for .Then was price gouged as original rental should have been $300 or so . They charge extra 13.50 per day for any additional driver even domestic partner as well as 30 extra per day to upgrade to a toyota camry from intermediate car that I initially booked - only option was a red car. Ended up with an $888 bill for 10 day toyota camry with no coverage ( I used my own) Upon returning vehicle no one in office waited 20 minutes to drop off . I just wanted to share so you don't get ripped off ( TIME and MONEY !!) Go to enterprise - I got TWO WEEK rental same car for $635 with taxes included . Never again to Hertz

I called ahead to make sure absolutely everything was set. I was assured everything with reservation was good to go. When I got there whoever I talked on the phone was nowhere to be found. Instead I dealt with the loud and obnoxious assistant manager, whose only response to me was "the circumstances have changed". I was left without a rental and the courtesy driver was on lunch so my options were to wait for an hour or walk home. This was a TRUE DMV LIKE EXPERIENCE. If you've ever gone to the dmv and thought "I can't get enough of this treatment" then Hertz El Sobrante is for you.
