“We came into Ashby on a whim and wanted to get some ideas/information on options for an upcoming bathroom remodel. We were greeted by Nikhi, who listened to our design wants and needs. She printed product specification sheets and provided pricing for a few different options we liked. She didn't mention that they were closing in 5 minutes, instead, she made sure we had what we needed to discuss what we learned and make decisions from home. Helpful, friendly, patient. We'll be back.”

It reminded me of how every employees has been towards me since Cole Hardware established itself in the neighborhood in 2016. Yes, you probably could get some of their items a few dollars cheaper on Amazon but great in person customer service is priceless. There's an energy to it that is really extremely special these days. “Great service as usual on this rainy 18 Dec 2023 afternoon. All your sand bag and flood mgt needs are here. A few sizes of the Quick Dam products. 50# bags of playground sand. You can grab a tag and just one bag then tell the cashier the total number of bags you want and someone will bring all those 50# bags out to your car/truck for you and load them in. They also have sand bags if you need those too. Hello El Niño Winter!”

The owners seem to be the only employees, and while they don't know much about hardware or repair topics they do know their stock. A quick ask will get you to the right place. The same owners run True Value Eastern near Berkeley Bowl. They let me bring my bike in for safety from theft, a good thing.”

“I ran all over the East Bay & made half a dozen phone calls before I got here. I was trying to make custom power steering hoses for a hot rod project. When I finally got here, I found what seems to be the only competent hydraulics shop left between Richmond and Alameda, as far inland as San Leandro. Maybe that's not quite fair, but these guys got the hoses I needed made within 45 minutes, at a very fair price, and threw in a scrap of fuel filler hose just for the heck of it. I won't bother going anywhere else now that I know how good Hoses Unlimited is.”

Questions I was asking as if km supposed to.know everything about the store and items they sale can see how if I'm was not a contractor this would not be the place I want to visit not supper nice even a little.rude at first richard came to help after the first guy look frustrated about my.questions all I wanted was to know about some colors for concrete most places have it by name but here that are sorted by number so I didn't know this Richard took more time.to.explain to me the difference and prices and such ended up spending over 300 dollars in tools and stuff... again not very friendly but ok place to buy I saw some regulars came in and the guy was kicking around with them and stuff I think he just doesn't like to.deal with people that has questions which sucks because that's why you should go to a place that specializes in stuff like this”

“This place has a little of everything and a good variety too! Everything you might need .. they usually have it unless they're out! I really like the staff there as they are customer oriented and seem to really want to be helpful With whatever home needs you might have and have been very helpful when I have absolutely no idea what to do to fix a home situation and have been great about providing me with suggestions / options! Now for the bad part... Parking! That part of town has over the years been turned into a one way/ wrong way street area with only metered curbside parking if you can find one close by. That is the only downside to this place but otherwise it's a "Thumbs Up" from me!”
