I submitted a complaint to the Veterinary Medical Board of California regarding El Sobrante Veterinary Hospital and the malpractice of the women that run this facility. It is an absolute misnomer for any of them to refer to themselves as doctors. They ALL failed to take not only the basic amount of time, but also courtesy, to explain basic preventative feline care. Similarly as her predecessors who mistreated my beloved kitty Shelly with unnecessary injections until her untimely death at 18.5 years of age, Dr. Franck herself administered absolutely detrimental vaccines to my kitties without proper consult. My full recorded video message is as follows (please note it includes the unplanned use of explicit language): https://youtu.be/6hkSYBANEtI

Very gentle and caring with our spirited chihuahua.

Very welcoming and felt genuinely concerned for my dog. I was worried about the care from past experience at another location, and I left so happy with the care and love they provided my dog.

Best vet ever. I rescue cats. ESVH takes excellent care of them, and does a great, smooth, painfree, caring and gentle euthanasia when the time comes.

Been going here for all my fur babies needs. Their going through some transitions obtaining another vet. They have 1 vet and she gets busy. Staff is super and pets are taken care of well. It'd give a 4 if they were fully staffed. Thanks

Rescheduled my Kitten's first vet appointment because of a COVID outbreak and all they said when I showed up was we did leave you a message saying we reschedule you. Here's the kicker when the initially took my phone number down THEY WROTE IT down wrong . I'm actually not sure how that happens it was repeated several times. And I have had that number for decades so I know I didn't say incorrectly. You know what they didn't get wrong? My credit card number to take a down payment. Funny. When I told the front desk over the phone because they are still following all COVID protocol to prevent contamination(I'm not kidding) that my kitten needed to at least have a schedule shot because the appointment was made for that date specifically so the it lined up with his first shot that was given at the shelter. There was no, let me see if that would be possible, no, let me see if there's a vet here. No all she said was "unfortunately for us to give him a shot he needs to be seen by a vet and have a full exam I can give you a refund of the deposit and recommend someone that might be able to take him." I'm sorry but when I hear the word recommend I think they have some prior knowledge of these sites they are sending me. But because I can see through the fake "I can help attitude" and the lack of attention to detail I've experienced to this point my gut told me to ask "do you recommend these places as you guys have worked with them before and know their level of care" basically the answer was no, she was just listening the closes ones. In other words something I could've googled. Got my refund and went on my way. Gotta figure out new care for my kitten. Oh wait!! But did she say they had already rescheduled me?!? Ohh no I can't trust their efficiency now! So I called back after getting kitten his new appointment. Same person answers let her know that I was calling to make sure the appointment was canceled she asked for my last name and then replies "oh didn't we give you a refund already" I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure my question was not about money!. So I simply replied "because of all the last minute changes and how I like to make sure things are done correctly. I prefer to ask a question rather then assume someone got the message. I wanted to call back and make sure they were not waiting for me the following week." The tone during this whole call was manufactured politeness that came across horribly I think there are better ways to handle emergencies, I received emails about the charges. Since this was something out of the ordinary if your usual protocol is to call and leave a message with someone of their newly scheduled appointment. I would think protocol would be broken during out of control circumstances. So a call and an email could have helped the situation. Taking the time to not only reschedule but make sure non of the appointments are time sensitive, and possible creat an alternative plan for those customers. Or at the every least don't just leave a message assuming someone gets it make sure a living person answers and is aware of the changes. TLDR: office got COVID rescheduled all appointments (including time sensitive ones) without owners consent just left voicemails with new appointment date. (Or at least they said they did because I never received a voicemail. as surprise!! They wrote my number down wrong) Also for those wondering new vet charged ~$20 additional but I had no other choice as it needed to be done that day.

Great, friendly staff! I always use them for my pet care needs-we have a black lab-weimaraner mix and a chihuahua mix. They are helpful and really good about answering questions. Dr. Fong is very friendly and spends time answering questions and concerns. She found three suspicious lumps on my big dog (who has a history of cancer), which we scheduled to have removed. The scheduler also helped schedule a tooth cleaning and extraction, too, so I wouldn't have to pay twice for anesthesia. I will continue to use this vet's office.

Amazing vets who care about and respect animals. They do so much for their patients, and for the community as a whole. 100% recommend.

I went for flea medication. The staff were very nice. I heard them talking with another customer too and they seemed kind and informative and happy to be helping someone. I'm definitely going to call these folks when I need veterinary services.

The one star is not about the quality of services but the difficulties of coming to their clinic at all. I had a very positive referral through a friend and was looking forward to bringing my cat in for a routine problem. The receptionist couldn't have been more polite, but I was shocked at the price tag for a basic office visit and that's a whole issue in itself, affordable pet care for those of us not millionaires. We love our animals just as much and in these days of high costs for everything there is only so far you can stretch. Beyond that what really bothered me was that I was asked to pay in advance for an appointment that is almost a month away! Never heard of pre-pay with vets before. Alarming new development I am sorry to see. Bummer all round.

Having just moved back to the area from Oakland, one of the first things I did was get back in with El sobrante veterinary hospital, my vet from when I lived in the area a decade ago. Though the staff has changed somewhat, the service remains the same if not improved. My extra stressed out small dog did really well with them, which of course made me feel better. Dr. Fong gave me a wonderful rundown over the phone from the visit since we still can't go inside with our animals due to covid. While I look forward to the day we can get back inside with them, I have no worries about the care though receive in my absence with the vets and vet techs here.

I have been bringing my pets to Dr. Franck for over 10 years. I have never met a vet that truly cares as much as she does. She is thorough, compassionate, and just overall amazing. I have followed her to various clinics and am so glad that she now has one of her very own. I am so grateful to have found a vet like Dr. Franck. Our older pup has been under Dr. Franck's care since she was 8 weeks old. This week she found a mass on her paw and didn't hesitate to fit her into the surgery schedule so that we could remove it immediately and send it to the lab for further testing. She is an absolute angel. If you are looking for a trustworthy, highly compassionate vet for your fur babies, you have found the perfect one!
