I've been going to Meseret for a few years now for my taxes. I appreciate her team's work and how quickly she responds to my questions. Her office is conveniently located in the El Cerrito Plaza. Definitely recommend her!

Initially, I was not going to post anything, but after some thought, I've decided to give this update. Yes, it's been 24 hours since I posted my review of MY personal experience and I have been sent a couple of disturbing messages from individuals who appear to be part of Meseret's circle. These messages have led me to the following conclusions: 1) Some of the good reviews are fictitious and were written by Meseret's associates and 2) Meseret or her associates closely monitor these yelp reviews (good for them). Without going into details, the messages clearly support my earlier contention about the lack of professionalism. I will NOT be intimidated nor will I change my review. My phone number and home address have not changed.

I use Meseret's CPA services for the past 3 years for my personal and for my business and she is very responsive, efficient and so far i haven't got any issue with IRS. I keep do my tax return also this year with her and her team and i will recommend you to do it as well.

Choosing the right CPA can make or break the start-up of your small business, you have to make sure you're entrusting it to the right person. I called her one afternoon to ask her some questions and get a feel for if she would be the right CPA for me. I have to agree with one of the other posters in that I wasn't impressed. She was very cold on the phone and not very helpful in answering my questions, just these one word answers and with no feedback. I literally only asked three questions, but toward the last question I asked, she told me that for more information she charges $100 per hour for a consultation. Maybe she's very good but after the discussion I felt prickly and I wouldn't want to work with her. Update - in response to the owners statement, we spoke about a year ago and she was not very polite. I was not asking for nor looking for a free consultation. I asked some very basic questions about her business, fees, and requirements and she cut me off and said she would not answer any more of my questions without scheduling a consultation for $100 an hour. I understand and respect her time, but prospective clients should be able to ask some basic questions so that they know what to expect, without the owner of the business demanding money upfront. This is the way everyone else does business.

Meseret made a $5,000 error on my tax return which I had to pay to the IRS plus $450 interest. She refused to reimburse me for the interest charge. I suggest using another CPA.

Meseret always helps me so much! I would never be able to make it though tax season without her! Are and her staff are always friendly, helpful, and patient! Their on line document system makes it easy to upload my documents and their expense organizer makes it easy to calculate deductions. I highly recommend giving their service a try!

Been receiving notices (with penalties and interest) annually for a business tax return. After talking with the FTB about why this kept happening they displayed that the payment made relating to my filed tax return was incorrectly applied. She was applying the amount due with my tax return to next years tax return (applied to year paid incorrectly instead of tax year). The amount I owed with the 2014 tax return was applied to the 2015 when it should have been applied to 2014. This error repeated for 2015 and 2016. In 2017 a refund was applied from 2016 which included a payment that was for a 2015 tax return. I'm sure she will come up with some excuse below, but multiple years with the same error is incompetent. I moved on, and I am much happier. Sometimes you just need to take the blame for your mistakes.
