Please let me explain why I'm giving this store 1star. I went in one day recently looking for a few items. I was greeted by Maya, she is fairly new and very awesome with really great work ethic. I would really like to say the same about leader of the store......MATHEW.... But I can't. I have worked in retail and this is the kind of person that should never be given power. Mathew, you suck at your job and should find another path preferably one that doesn't involve working with people. Let me continue what I experienced, after being greeted by Maya and ignored by the manager I waited patiently. As Mya tried to help me and greet everyone that walked in through the door, answered questions ran back and forth, rang people up, answered the phone.....this is all happening while the manager... Yes you Mathew..... is leisurely helping one customer..... and finally as Maya tried helping me with a specific item, she asked Mathew a question.... I was disgusted by his Condescending, belittling and Misogynistic tone.... If I was his boss, I would do all the employees a favor and tell Mathew to take a long unpaid vacation. That of course wasn't the first time I witnessed this behavior from him. I ended up leaving and going back another day. I wasn't very happy about my time being wasted... but maybe it wasn't time wasted after all.... I'm waiting this fantastic review. I go into this store quite often, I have been helped time and time again by the very wonderful people who work here, Carl, Brandi....( so sad to see you go Brandi, your knowledge, work ethic and kindness you can do anything you want! You're amazing) Kerri, Merrick, Gio, Angie! I wanna shout out to you guys... you all make my day every single time I go in there with Obie... thank you very warmly for all that you guys do.. you deserve to be appreciated and treated with dignity and respect. As wellAs the two new young ladies Maya and Asada... you guys are new but you always do your best and I see that whenever I'm in there.Dear Petfood Express, I'm disappointed with Your Lack of creating a more positive and kind work environment for your workers... who you allow to represent your company as a leader matters. But hey....clearly... $$$$ seems to be more important than the mental and emotional health of your employees. Have a great day and god bless all my sweet friends at Petfood express...... except for you Mathew.... You need Jesus!!

Amazing high quality pet products, wide variety of items & my dogs love coming in to sniff everything! (Great buy 3, get 1 free deals on all products..!) Also the baths are really convenient for washing dogs. Makes bath time much easier & can just rinse the fur & grime down the drain.

I have been going to the Danville Pet food Express as it is where I live, but the service that I got here at this location was excellent. Merek is always very helpful and gives great guidance for food as both my Pets have sensitive stomachs. Love their bath area! It's clean and very spacious. Would be coming here for everything from now on.

Great place to bathe your dog and buy treaties, food, toys etc afterwards. Very easy to use the bathing area. Everything is provided.

Returned to my favorite location in El Cerrito. Brandy was super helpful as soon as I came in. I bought a ton of treats and she recommended a dry food I can let my 2 picky miniature poodles try. I also got some broth. She explained the new return policy. I appreciate the service here always. It's way out of my way but I'd rather go here than the Benicia store since there's a new GM there that was not very kind to customers. Thank you again El Cerrito Petfood Express.

Great service , very helpful ! Carl helped me pick out a replacement food for my dog. As well as when the extra steps to help me save a little money - my dogs love the food and we will def be coming back to this pet shop from now on. Thanks !!

My frenchie baby has some sensitive skin allergies. Stella and Chewys Beef & Salmon freeze dried pattys are among the only commercial brand puppy food that doesn't aggravate her sensitive skin. This brand is harder to find but available at Petfood express.This location is clean, nice, and organized. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The buy 3 get 1 free is always a plus!

Every time I go here I am greeted by friendly and helpful staff. One day I have to ask them what the magic is. One thing is for sure, they all love dogs!! I just go here to support the awesome people who work here.

Had to wash my pup Watson so we dropped in for a bath. Watson was his usual irritated self but the wash stations were plentiful and uncrowded. The clerk was especially helpful and friendly. Thanks for being here!

Love this place been coming here for years, happy employees greet you as you walk in. My pups love it here with so many pet food and treats to choose from. I'll definitely be coming back here for years to come! Keep up the good work guys!

This store is the epitome of customer service! Every time I come in, I am greeted by the staff and they are always helpful. I have received so much great advice from them and their return policy is generous if something didn't work for my puppy. They are on par with Nordstrom in terms of taking care of the human and fur customers!!!

I've visited this location for years. And my takeaway has always been that this is one of the best stores in the area. As I have had many great experiences here, I must point out an exceptional employee named Marcus. Marcus is intelligent, knowledgeable about the products, engaging and his customer service is top-notch. He has carefully explained each and every question I've asked and I always get the feeling that he strives for customer satisfaction, and has a genuine love for ANIMALS. I've watched Marcus interact with other customers as well....amazingly, he gives everyone his full, attentive attention. Thanks so much Marcus....can't wait to visit the store again.....you rock!! Please never leave this company!

This store has customer service DOWN! They are seriously impressive. I now go out of my way to come here. It seems like the management does a great job selecting folks who are friendly, outgoing and earnestly wanting to help. I started coming here to give my dirty dog a bath after a muddy trip to the dog park. I ended up looking around and finding something else to buy. One of the employees greeted me and my pup, asking if there was anything in particular I was looking for. She literally walked me around to various areas, after listening to my needs. She ended up suggesting a long-lasting chew toy that was perfect! My dog LOVED it and spent a couple hours that evening occupied (and not bugging us). Months later it's still a fave. I've experienced this one other time, and witnessed other customers getting similar treatment. If you want to be left alone, no one will bug you, but they're there to help/advise if needed. The baths are used by many other dogs, so not exactly pristine, but they're cleaned regularly. I love the single sprayer with shampoo and rinse, then blow dry feature with ample clean towels. They even went into lockdown mode (locked front door) when my naughty pup tried to run away. Overall most impressed!!
