This store needs to do better. It was once a pretty decent store, before it was acquired by Albertsons. Now it's a hole in the ground.
First, if you need a shopping cart, you have to go hunt for one in the parking lot yourself. Then once you find one, they are filthy. Dirty and often trash in them.
Next, your accosted by people outside the entrance selling "something ". Different people Different things.
I expect this sort of thing at Walmart or Food4Less, not Vons. Even though they both have shopping cart issues, neither of them allow anyone near the entrance to sell anything. Food4Less only allows Girlscouts to sell their cookies and Walmart allows people trying to push political issues to get signatures on petitions but Vons allows ghetto looking people to sell candy bars which is mostly a hustle.
Once you go in, 9 times out of 10, they don't have wipes for the shopping carts. The rotisserie chickens are old and often look mangled. The French Bread at the bakery is inconsistent. Some days they're ok, sometimes not so good, if it's even available.
The meats are another problem. Just about every time I go for meats, they either expire that same day or expired the day before. This has become more prevalent recently.
Why do I even go there? I also shop Walmart and Food4Less, but Vons has products I need that the other two don't carry. Plus, once in a while I want to go somewhere "civil" and don't want to deal with the type of people that generally go to the other two. Prices are substantially higher Vons, but it used to be worth it. It's getting to be less that way and starting to become Ghetto like the other two.
This place needs better management.

I moved into the area 2 years ago. The Vons is the closest and most convenient from my home.
Before moving I couldn’t have been happier with the service from the Albertsons I had gone to for years. Where the employees actually wore uniforms and could be identified as employees. It seems the Vons doesn’t stress the need for their employees to wear uniforms.
In the last 3-5 months I have noticed the employees do not look happy and there is generally no communication with me in self checkout or utilizing an open checkout lane (when there is actually more than 1 open which is rare).
What really bothers me is the stealing I have seen from the store the last 3 times I have gone. The most recent was a woman and teenaged boy using self checkout. They scanned everything, threw it in the cart and walked out of the store. I told an employee this was happening and she said this happens all the time. I have noticed the store in the last month has had a security guard in the store which appears to do nothing to stop persons from stealing.
Before writing this review I have seen a response from the “owner” on other reviews stating they have talked to staff regarding the complaint reviews but it seems nothing is happening. I feel this Vons will be like so many other stores and will close due to all the thefts, or the prices will just be higher.
I am going to make the further drive to Rancho San Diego now to use the Albertsons. At least their employees seem to enjoy working there and are communicative and helpful and I have not noticed the thefts from that store.

I spend a lot of money in this store. Everybody used to be very nice and I loved this store. The last 3 times I have been there, the baggers have slammed my groceries in the bags and have been very unfriendly. Makes me want to go somewhere else.

Very nice store. It has a Starbucks, for those who like it. It's very well stocked and clean, and the people working there are nice too.

This is my nearest grocery store but I stopped going about a month ago, the staff are the most depressed looking bunch, and at first I thought that's understandable, it's not the best job, but in all the grocery stores I've visited since during the same time of day the staff has been polite, willing to help, and generally aren't a bunch of depressed looking individuals.
The final straw was having none of the self-checkouts open while being stuck in the single register line that was open because the cashier was busy hunting down coupon information with the customer at the till continuously asking her to move on while two other employees just looked on as if they didn't want to say anything.
This location has great reviews, my experience has clearly been different but I can say it's been a pleasant shopping experience since I've been going to other locations. Hope whatever is causing this malaise amongst the staff improves one day.

Parking is easy and plenty. The staff is friendly and helpful. I was able to find all the items that I needed. Self-checkout was a breeze.
