Don’t order any online delivery from here, results are iffy! The exchange & returns center customer service is horrible. Checkout is usually slow. If have to visit ikea, rather go to the one in Emeryville.

Needless to say, ikea is the second place where you walk in with the mood of “I am just here to take a look” but end up leaving with 2 new furnitures and a 500 dollar bills with 3 hours maze-like walking.
First place is Costco btw.

Worst IKEA ever. Ordered two shelves at the store and waited for an hour to pick them up. A bunch of other customers experienced the same.

The food court is very nice and very economical and very clean, I think it is even cleaner than the michelin star restaurant here.

I visit in reverse order: discount area then walk through opposite sometimes.
For new super affordable items as well as the discounted items section- even most thrift shops can’t beat IKEA (why do thrift stores price kitchen items and glasses more than IKEA or dollar stores!?!?).
The vegan meatballs are also a big win for us.
I have bought all sorts of items over the years. It is obviously the fast fashion of furniture so that’s the other side of the coin and it’s depressing to see influencers literally buying 4 times a year to “refresh” “makeover” when it’s really only about producing more content and IKEA makes it easy to live (or appear to live that way). I also usually go antique wood or solid wood when it makes sense. Have made some furniture too both with IKEA item as a base and from scratch.
Returns are hugely time wasting and it’s understandable as it deters returns. Customer service is hit or miss and usually long waits to check out, but adding more staff and better service would mean higher prices so it’s a trade off.
I really appreciate the convenience of IKEA as a big resource, BUT I also make sure to use as it makes sense from a longevity, design and sustainability perspective. Consider checking your local Buy Nothing group if you can be patient.

They were remodeling a significant portion of the showroom. There seemed to be less merchandise available than on previous visits.

OPEN MORE REGISTERS!!!!
Ikea has a whopping 18 checkout points in this store. Even on a weekday morning, the line was approaching back wall with only 4 self checkout registers open. It should be mandatory to have at least one register with a cashier open for people who are unfamiliar or might struggle with self checkout. 18 checkouts in store and 14 unused with a line nearly to the back of store is poor management and corporate greed. When the line is ridiculously long, JUST OPEN MORE REGISTERS PLEASE. ??

Only self-checkout was open around noon. Carefully scanned all items and got a spot check, which means a rep will rescan some item to verify. I even took all items out of cart before scanning, just to make sure I get every item. I’m angry because many people scanned a large pile of items and didn’t bother to take them out of the cart didn’t get checked. There seems to be a racial profiling here. Very bad experience!
