!Do Not Take the Acrylic Course!
I signed up for the acrylic course and made a first payment of $400 out of a total cost of $1,000. I wanted to take this class for fun and to learn a new skill. When I registered, I was told that the school would provide all the materials we needed. Unfortunately, that was not true.
We learned to make beads using the school's monomer, but then our instructor said we had to buy additional supplies: acrylic powder, dental bibs, paper towels, a hand model, face masks, a sterilizer tray, nail tips, nail protein bond, and our own monomer. This was confusing since we had already used some school supplies, including paper towels. The extra supplies would cost over $100.
To make matters worse, forgetting any of these items would result in a write-up and a $10 fee the second time. This left me in a difficult position, as I had only saved enough for the class itself. Now, I have to drop out, losing my $400.
The school's way of misleading students about the materials feels unfair and dishonest. I tried to get a refund for the remaining $200 I paid, but I was told I couldn't get it back. I knew the first deposit was non-refundable, but I wanted the second $200 back.
I messaged them through text they denied this saying that buying the items in optional and not mandatory, this is not true and feels horrible because I was told that now they are denying my experience. The way they promote it as if you get provided with everything is wrong. It sucks to because if I didn't have the supplies how am I gonna learn??
If you're considering this course to become a nail technician, be cautious. This course does not lead to a license, despite their TikTok promotions suggesting otherwise. Working as a nail tech without a proper license is illegal. The certificate you receive only indicates course completion and holds little value. Misleading advertising like this is not only unethical but could be illegal.
I strongly advise you not to enroll in this course. The lack of clear information about materials and the false promises about job opportunities make this a bad investment. My best advice is to learn yourself from youtube then get your license to avoid being reported to the state board and being charged thousands of dollars. Doing nails and charging without a license is illegal!
Edit- The way you guys are trying to deny my experience is infuriating. Just because you guys tell me now it was optional doesn't mean anything. Our first day of class, we had about 10-15 minutes to explore the store and buy necessary materials as our instructor should us the things we will be needing I stood there confused as I was told I had to buy them. The school said all materials would be provided, but then required us to buy extra supplies. This lack of honesty can lead to unexpected costs. It's also frustrating that the school has a non-refundable policy, which feels like a trap. Being misled about what we needed to bring made it hard to stay in the course.
Edit-This company can't handle criticism. I received a message stating, "We would like to offer the materials your instructor recommended. This isn't something we typically do." This implies they never intended to provide the materials, making it necessary for students to pay for their own. I feel misled, and my experience matters.
I'm warning fellow students about my experience, and if the company can't accept that, that's on them. They deny my account, but I have proof. I declined their offer because I don't want to continue with a dishonest company.
New edit responding to there recent response-I know there are no refunds, but I will share my experience publicly. False advertising is illegal. It's misleading to suggest that students can become licensed nail techs without clear information about requirements. The way they present this on soci
