The volunteers are very experienced and knowledgeable about firearms. They are very helpful and professional in their volunteer jobs. The place is clean. The targets are inexpensive and sturdy. Many volunteers make this a worthwhile experience.

The level of service and professionalism at South Bay Rod & Gun is fantastic. This was my second visit and second time ever handling a firearm. The guys were super helpful and friendly, even letting us known we could go to the upper range to practice handguns if we wanted. Safety is the first second and third priority at SBRG, which made me feel very comfortable. Will definitely go back in the future.

This place is great I took my son for his 1st time shooting and he loved it. I believe it's adults $30 juniors $15.They sell soda here and water for a reasonable price, NOT overpriced, They have real bathrooms on property for the girls

Awesome place to shoot! All the RSOs there are super helpful and nice! I was a first timer and they guided me through the process of shooting at the range! Plus the price of $30 is unbeatable, no time limit! Of course if you're someone who loves to go target shooting it's best if you get yearly membership! I went to sight in a new scope for my 30-06! Would definitely come back if I need to sight in a scope!

A bit out of the way, but the staff are very safety conscious and knowledgeable. The staff offer pointers if there are not a lot of people, but one can also ask for recommendations pertaining to shooting.NO ammo sales or gun/rifle rentals.First target paper is free. The club offers a day fee or one can purchase an annual members pass.Kids are welcome as long as they can wear ear and eye protection.

I have been a member for many years. I have been on the work parties on the first Saturday of the month. I think this is a very worthwhile group. The people make this range successful and that includes the members, but more importantly, the volunteers. This facilities is run by volunteers and that says a lot.Safety is paramount and they are quick to catch anything unsafe or potentially unsafe. It’s mostly providing some help using the hundreds of years of experience that they have acquired.Thank you!!

An excellent range. Definitely hidden away but has all of the necessary amenities. The facilities are well kept and there is plenty of shade for shooters.Recommend keeping and eye out when coming out here. Due to its proximity there can be a lot of people in the back hills; don't want anybody to get hurt unnecessarily.

My favorite Range in SoCal. Good place. 300 meters. Good spotting scopes. Has good benches and offers sand bags, bench rests and can hang your own targets. Good staff and helpful. Most range masters have experience and can help you make a few tweaks and suggestions on moa

Bit of a pain to get to. The road is not paved which means a slow drive and a lot of dust kick up, not great for anything other than a truck. However, great range, able to shoot all the firearms I had with no problem. Lots of range space as well.

*This is reviewing only the Trap Range*It had been a while since my boyfriend and I last went Trap Shooting, so when he found South Bay and we had an open weekend, we decided to take the opportunity and check this spot out.- PARKING -All dirt/gravel roads on the way to the range as well as within it. When you first pull into the first road, you'll see a sign with all the range numbers and what you're able to shoot there. Each range has its own parking area.- SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT -When we first arrived, we went straight to the Trap Range as that's what we wanted to do, but were a bit confused by the online information regarding membership pricing/requirements. We asked the range officers at Trap and they told us to check in at the rifle range above. When we went over, they told us to just start at the Trap Range, and if we decided we wanted to shoot additional, to come back to them afterward. The reasoning was that we could pay the flat fee to shoot at Trap, and if we were still wanting to shoot additional ranges, we could then pay the rest of the day's fee. A bit confusing, but everyone was fairly patient with us and we got to where we needed to be in the end.- EXPERIENCE -$10/person Range Fee, $8/round [25 shots]: After you make your payments (cash or card available), the range officers will give you tickets. When you want to join in on a round, you give the range officer your ticket and they will take your name down as well as assign you a starting position. Whoever the first shooter is, is responsible for checking all other shooters are ready in each round. You shoot 5 rounds per position and then change until everyone has cycled through. Range officers were very friendly and gave everyone pointers to help them improve if they could. Really enjoyed our experience because of the Trap Range Officers, and am definitely more inclined to come back to see them. (Richard/Rick and Wayne)- OVERALL -We wish we could have checked out the other ranges as well, but we took a longer time than expected and got hungry. Will be back to shoot some more!
