Ironhorse treated my dog for acute pancreatitis last year. He got sick on Christmas Day so I was thankful that they were open every day 24/7. He was very sick and had numerous complications that made the initial diagnosis difficult. The vets and staff were all caring and considerate throughout the numerous days that he was there, plus all the follow-up appointments. I especially appreciated how the vets would give me an update each day about his condition and what they were doing for him. Ultimately, they saved his life and I'm so thankful for that. Many of the negative reviews here are about their payment policies and the cost of treatment. I can understand how their payment policies may seem heartless at a time when your main concern is treating your pet. At the same time, they probably have those policies in place for a reason and they need to pay their staff and bills to keep offering their services. And if you're bringing your pet to an emergency pet hospital, you have to expect that it can get expensive. Yes, our total bills added up were a LOT, but totally worth it because our dog got the best care and is now healthy again.

Yesterday, we had a scare. Our little pupper has been hanging in her back area, and with the rain, we had in the past and now with dry, really hot days, there have been a lot of foxtails. She has been covered in it for the past few weeks. The last couple of days it has been worse. So long story short (like her) she got some in her ears. Yesterday, when my wife brought her in in the afternoon, she was acting lethargic and not her normal peppy self. This would not have been too much of a concern had it not that we lost our dog of 11.5 years a month ago and he was lethargic before he passed in his sleep. Our normal vet is Paws of Pleasanton (shout out to them for the referral) is not an emergency/urgent care clinic, that referred us to IronHorse Vet Care. My wife brought her in and they immediately took care of her. We tagged team this visit because my wife had to get back to a meeting. While I was waiting the staff ensured that I knew the status. It took a while for her to be completely checked out. But they let us know that her vitals were normal and that they were waiting for the vet to see her. So in the end, she had two foxtails in her left ear, and she had inflammation in both ears. She went home with a test tube of the foxtails, a cone, and pain medication. The vet came out and spoke to me, explained everything, and was very nice and caring. She did not blink, when I could not keep a straight face when she said Zoe had to wear a cone for two days. The staff at IronHorse is very nice and we will come back if our little pupper gets into another mess. But hopefully, not too soon, no offense!

My rating is 4 1/2 stars - my sweet furbaby Fluffy a cat, recently got sick and I had to bring him in here. I was freaked out and upset over my cats quickly deteriorating health. Most people I encountered here are angles on earth taking care of our precious furbabys. I had just brought him in to them and they started processing him to be brought back. An assistant came out to us (we were in the reception area) to ask questions and get background on my cat. For some reason she was aggressive(!) with me verging on anger - which greatly surprised me! My cat was in his carrier (which was dark and you can't see into) - and she asked if he was long haired or short haired. I replied, "he's a main coon mix" and she immediately became mad and angrily said, "that's a short haired cat. It's NOT a main coon". Well, I think I know better than her what my cat looks like. She was arguing with me about my cat when she had never seen him. Then she demanded I immediately list the brands of every cat food I fed him which because of my upset about my cat plus feeling like she was angrily demanding this information - my mind went blank. Was a very weird and upsetting experience. I felt like I was being badgered for bringing my cat in - she made me feel like I was an incompetent cat owner. This all happened before they decided to bring him back and in front of other customers in the waiting area. After this unfortunate conversation everything went smoothly. The doctors and nurses kept me well informed. Unfortunately my furbaby was too sick - he needed a $10,000 exploratory intestinal surgery which he might not have survived. I ended up spending about $2,500 for his one overnight with them with payment due upon services received. I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put down my precious furbaby who helped me get through the pandemic and subsequent job loss. They let me have a private room with him to spend time before his final sleep. We were treated with the utmost of kindness and compassion. I ended up spending about two hours just loving and cuddling him before it was time for his sleep. Everyone - except that one lady - was the nicest, most compassionate and professional people. I wouldn't hesitate to bring another pet here.

Our small 10-year old Chihuahua mix started to develop a limp with a hind leg, and we found out that it was because he had a torn ligament. Our primary vet recommended Ironhorse VetCare for leg surgery to correct the problem. I'm very happy with the work by DVM Luis Perez of Ironhorse. He examined our dog, clearly explained the situation and options with us, and performed the TPLO surgery on our dog. Everything went smoothly. We were a big shocked when we saw our dog returned to us with a big cast on his leg, but after two weeks of caring for him before cast removal, and then a month or two of helping our dog exercise his leg with walks and recover his muscle strength in his leg, our dog is back to happily walking and running about again. People can't even tell which leg was operated on by watching him walk and run.

I've been around dogs for all 32 years of my life and I've never met a more dedicated team to the wellness of my pets. Sarah was the first doctor to take our concerns about our Teddy seriously. She effectively saved my dogs life. Jeff is the first doctor I've ever trusted whole heartedly. Under their care my dog is on his way to a full recovery after a nightmare 6 days just trying to get someone to help him. Top to bottom unequivocally the best all around team I've ever seen. From the front desk to the doctors and everyone in between they're the real deal and you can rest assured that whatever the emergency your fur baby is going through, that they'll be in he best hands money can buy in the Pleasanton/Dublin/San Ramon area. Thank you again for saving my ESA Teddys life. Forever grateful.

3-30-2024, by 12.5 lb dog was attacked by a 50+ lb Pitty/Boxer mix. We got him to Iron Horse Veterinary Hospital as soon as we could. They took him in immediately and gave him pain meds to make him comfortable. They tended to his wounds and took very good care of him. The bill was lower than they expected and my little guy is doing great.

I highly recommend this location if you are looking to euthanize your pet. My senior dog was in incredible pain suddenly on 11/29/23 and I knew it was time. Her health has been deteriorating over the last six months, but now she was not able to keep her food down and she kept throwing up the whole day. It broke my heart and there was no way I could let her continue hurting. It was around 11pm when we called to see if they were available and they were, so kind to me. When we got there they took care of us within five minutes. It was a very difficult time for me and my family but they made us feel very supported. They walked us through the procedure and they let us be with my Sasha for as long as we wanted to be before they sedate her. Everyone we interacted with was very kind and loving to us. It was such a tough day, but they definitely made it easier. When I came back to pick up my dog's ashes, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a wooden box with her name engraved on it. I also received a little jar with her hair, her paw print, and a very touching card. About a week later, I received a thank you card From a nonprofit organization, thanking me for the contribution that was made on my behalf by Iron Horse. This whole experience exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Even though I knew my dog was hurting and it was time, I felt guilty for taking her life away. The staff brought me so much comfort in their words. Thank you everybody for being so kind to us. My dog was like my baby. She was a rott mix and lived to be 14 years old. I miss her, but i feel also feel so lucky to have had her for so many years.

Great care, but I feel like the palace is offered, for care, at palace prices. In such an emotional time, I need advice about what is essential and what is not.

We brought our sweet dog in on a Sunday & I highly recommend this emergency vet clinic. Nurse Lizzy was amazing with Buttercup & we felt like she was in good hands, while not in ours. The entire staff was amazing, from the front support (shout out Cindy!!) to Dr Kim who came in to preform the surgery. Thank you for taking care of our baby!

I haven't been to Ironhorse since my sweet kitty got cancer years and years ago. I returned this time for my pup last week that seems to have some sort of environmental allergy. She's licked and chewed her paws in the past and usually have been able to control it with Meloxicam. However, she chewed so much her paw was raw, red and mildly bleeding. Our usual vet was still closed as it was between Christmas and New Years.I called for an appointment and was told they don't take appointments and was strictly walk in. I actually like that as you may wait for a bigger emergency that walks in, but also might just get in quickly too rather than waiting several hours for an appointment at another ER clinic.I only had to wait about 20 min. I knew she needed an antibiotic since her paw was huge and clearly infected. They gave her a thorough exam and gave options. Mainly, the cone, antibiotic and antiseptic soak was needed. The option was for a shot that lasts about 3 months and helps alleviate the environmental triggers. That was the expensive part of treatment, but knew I wanted to do it for her now and didn't want to wait another week to try and get into my regular vet.Everyone was warm, friendly, helpful and transparent on what was happening, my options and how to proceed.I won't hesitate to come again if need be, and know you can just drive over and will be seen. So thankful for them being open in New Year's eve day. My poor girl was miserable and happy to say she is back to herself.

Nero's very expensive misdiagnosis. Our cat, who adopted us last year, was coughing for about 2 weeks. When he spat up some blood we took him to the emergency vet. Xrays and a blood test later, they told me he had cat asthma and send us home with a battery of steroids for him. Two days later, his coughing only got worse, then something started coning out of his nose. I got hold of it and pulled it out. It was a 4 inch blade of rotting, bloody grass. He's much happier now, and no more coughing. I just don't know how they missed the obstruction during the exam.
