Stay Gallery located in downtown Downey is a precious gem in our city. They feature local artist as well as events for the community. Thank you Stay Gallery for your February Family Paint Day Event last week. The guided acrylic paint dau was so much fun. Please look them up! They have events posted on their website for a fun family day. They also host private events! There's a parking structure directly across the street. Enjoy the Downey mural on Downey Ave. painted by local artist depicting several Downey landmarks! So proud to be from this city for over 20 years.

This art gallery is a hidden gem in Downey! Excellent vibe, staff and exhibits. They also have a shop section featuring art prints, handcrafts and gallery merchandise. Great place!

Stay Gallery is one of few places to observe new artwork in my hometown, Downey, CA.Thanks to the COVID-19 quarantine, the gallery is entirely virtual at .The May 2020 installment titled "Human" is a really special treat as there is a cool interactive way to view the artwork as though you were standing in the gallery. Plus each artist has an info tab where they discuss their pieces in their own words. They have weird hours so I have missed quite a bit, but the exhibits that I've been to were enjoyable plus the staff is friendly and eager to share their knowledge of the artwork.This non-profit gallery, though small in size, is big on love for its community and budding artists, often working with Downey Unified School District as well as the PTA "Reflections" program.Most recently there was a "Water is Life" exhibition where Downey elementary students showed off their pizza box (provided by Pina Pizza House also in Downey) mosaic artworks. There was a panel of experts from the Greater L.A. area that discussed water conservation. Cool stuff.I highly suggest that you visit the "Human" exhibition. Read the instructions for viewing (i.e. swiping, dragging, clicking or tapping on "Info" etc.) for the best experience. Enjoy!PS - The one thing I would like to suggest is... my husband was born deaf and would most likely appreciate closed captioning on the video "REBIRTH"... or at least please consider it in the future so that he and other hearing-impaired individuals can enjoy it too. This is a great location for an intimate art exhibition, Perfect lighting and plenty of wall space, it's very clean and well maintained, plenty of parking available right out front or in secure parking lots across the street, many restaurants adjacent to the gallery, the management and staff were very accommodating and professional, they displayed images from the artists collection on an overhead projection at the rear of the gallery from a very high resolution projector, the gallery is located next to popular fine dining restaurants and trendy shops which attracts plenty of foot traffic, overall I rate this five stars.

This gallery's mission is so honest and they really want to reach the community. They give local artists the space and opportunity to get their art into the community and really find a place to display their work. Gabriel, the owner and curator, is so genuine and really welcoming. Such a great, intimate little gallery, definitely something to support.

I am a Downey local and have lived in the area for 22 years. Prior to discovering Stay Gallery I had constantly struggled with finding a local spot that held accessible community events, was open for all ages, and more importantly, dedicated to youth exposure. Stay Gallery is all of those things and so much more that a South East LA resident could ever dream of. I had the privilege of assisting with a reception for an exhibition here on January 18th and my amazing experience could not have been made without the friendliness and expertise of the team at Stay Gallery. Not only is the staff here incredibly amazing, they provide an awesome experience for anyone attending their events by making folks feel comfortable and welcome. Being a creative educator and organizer who has worked on countless artistic community projects, I recognize the importance of this space and how it fulfills a youth enrichment criteria in a wholesome and positive manner. Stay Gallery is among the few spaces in South East LA that is consistently dedicated to representing and highlighting only the best of its communities and surrounding neighborhoods. I am looking forward to attending many more future events here and I can say with confidence that Stay Gallery will only continue to grow and thrive and maintain itself as the go-to spot for community events.
