I initially joined this bank to start a savings account at a credit union. At the time I was also interested in a Roth and getting a vehicle loan and opening an account for my nephew. I didn't know much about credit unions but always heard it was a good idea to learn more about what they offer in comparison to traditional banks. I came across Monica A. Perez at an outreach event and to this day she's my number one contact. Although others have helped me along the way, Monica is very supportive, understanding, she's extremely knowledgeable, transparent on all information, and truly gives all details needed to make my own choices. I've never felt pressured, rather been encouraged to ask questions, to seek information beyond their branch, and really understand the choices I'm making. I wish more people were trained with her skills to service the public. She's definitely a great contribution to the team at DFCU and hope they truly value her dedication and commitment. I would like if they had more ATMs, other than that DFCU has comes through for me specially when taking out a vehicle loan, starting a separate savings, and setting up an account for my nephew and most importantly learning a long the way. Also appreciate the community events they have for children.

I'm still waiting for them to issue a refund on a claim I made a month ago,yes no one has called me or done any kind of update,I don't know if I still want to keep my business here.

Downey credit union bank, it's been years since I've stepped foot in your actual bank. The last time I was here was 2019, you guys do an amazing job at taking my loan out of my direct deposit every month. However, my in-person experience wasn't the best. When I walked in I was completely lost on where to go. There was a long line for the bank tellers (2 in total), the "sign in here" desk had no one in it. I couldn't even see the desk because of the amount of people that were just standing around. The people in line directed me on what to do. Once I finally understood the process I waited to be called, my wait time was about 30 minutes. Once I was called and they were able to help me with my issue, I had to go back in line to make a payment. I was surprised that they couldn't take my payment and that I needed to stand in line once again. To me it seemed redundant to have to wait in line twice. To my surprise, I then found out that I didn't have to stand in line twice, and that the banker (Brisa) was able to take my payment. I am disappointed in their customer service. The banker not only didn't resolve my issue, but also wasted my time. The second person who assisted me was amazing, she took the time to take a look at my account and offered a solution. The only reason why I am giving it a 2 start and not a 1 star is because of the last Banker who assisted me, she tried to make it better.

I applied for a car loan, but the loan process is a joke. Their employees don’t know the bank products and lack information. Due to the lack on information they mislead customers will false information. When you ask them the reason why a loan was denied, they just make things up which are false . I heard good things about the bank , but I will be closing my account, along with my family members. The bank wants you to accept a NO you didn’t qualify with no explanation!! Hopefully the bank educates their employees to provide a better experience to their clients … I feel bad because we have one of the worst banks in our communities . I spoke with Adriana in the “loan department,” which was clueless of the information she was giving me

Not a good experience with their loan department, I felt they did not do their due diligence for my registration, have no way of tracking mailed registrations, good luck getting it by regular post office mail, hope it doesn't get lost I'm mail. I was suggested to pay for FedEx tracking ? I sure will, take note.

My husband and I have banked with DFCU but things have changed. We financed a car loan with them and they were constantly calling us to ask for the paperwork to upload to the website but we were waiting for them to arrive. Once everything was uploaded, we had a call to discuss the details of the loan and we specifically requested a 90 day deferment on the loan which they said they would do. We specified it several times because we wanted that extra time to start paying the loan. After we signed, we never heard from them again. I called and left a voicemail and did not get a call back. I finally tried to get a hold of someone after my husband realized that we had a payment coming up 45 days after we signed the loan, not 90 days as we had requested. When I finally got a hold of someone (they called me but didn't have the decency to leave a voicemail when I couldn't get to the phone in time) they said that we signed the paperwork with the 45 day date and there was nothing that could be done anymore because the 90 day deferment could only be submitted at the time of funding of the loan. We are livid because this is their mistake but we have to suffer the consequences of it. Do not go there again because I'm sure it's not the first time this has happened and it definitely won't be the last. We are looking to refinance elsewhere.

Since the new app the banks situation has been completely horrendous. It's 6/11/23 and the app won't even load and won't let me withdraw anything. DFCU is 10 years behind on technology and it really shows. I'm completely through with this horrible mom and pop bank, come Monday I'm withdrawing everything and I am officially done with this horrible bank.

Since the update of the app this year, I have been checking on my account more often and much closer. I have a feeling that the the update was to make customers feel scrambled and confused this way Downey Federal credit Union can siphon money little by little from our accounts. They made it much more harder to keep track of our money, but they're not going to fool me. If I ever find out that this is the case, I will slap them with a lawsuit so big they wouldn't know what hit them.

Today is May 13 2023. The new app update is horrible to say the least. It does not reflect what you are spending. I’m sick and tired of this stupid bank. It should not have the opportunity to call itself a credit union. I’m going to take all my money out and hopefully everyone else does too this way it can close like the other banks this year.
