Warning stay away from this place. This business is operating out of the same building as Jo's auto repair on Firestone Blvd. next to Big 5. i took my son's 94 Cherokee 4x4 and asked for replacement of seals and gaskets because the transmission was leaking a bit otherwise running perfectly. i got a quote of $450 at first i thought it was a bit steep but agreed and left it. i received a call a couple days later thinking it was ready to be picked up NOPE it was the mechanic to tell me the front seal needs replacing and its an extra $90. The reason i took it in was specifically to replace seals and gaskets. He then told me that the clutches for 1st gear and reverse were worn out and needed to be replaced.i am no master mechanic but i know you need to take the transmission apart to inspect the clutches at this point i knew he was trying to rip me off and instructed him to perform only the work i initially requested. he then stated the jeep would be ready in 2 days. when i called two days later he then said he had it installed and needed to test it the next day. Weary of his lies to this point i drove to the shop after they closed and inspected the Jeep witch they left outside unsecured and saw that the transmission was not installed. Two days later he finally called to say it was ready when i got there i questioned the $90 front seal which i researched and found out it costs $5 and takes 10 minutes to installed he changed his story and said it was the torque converter and that's why its $90. he then handed me a bill which itemized the $450,the $90 and $75 for transmission fluid.at this point i almost lost it. you cant replace the seals and gaskets without replacing the fluid that was part of the quote! now lets back to BAD part i picked up the Jeep when it was late so i did not get a chance to inspect the work the next day upon inspection i found: 1. The cross member which holds up the transmission was missing 2 out of 4 bolts. 2. the exhaust pipe was installed incorrectly and was hitting the cross member 3.the linkage for the transfer case was not connected. 4.there were bolts missing on the plate that holds the shift linkage. 5.The flywheel cover plate and bolts were missing 6.the throttle shift cable was not installed correctly 7. the threads on the starter were stripped. At this point there was no way i was taking it back to him and made all the corrections myself. had this happened to anyone who is not mechanically inclined they could have suffered a catastrophic failure. this mechanic is not only unscrupulous but inept or indifferent please for your safety and wallet do more research than i did.
