The Getaway is our favorite place to stay in the desert. The mid century modern vide is beautifully done both outside and in. The rooms are all very comfortable. Over the years we have tried them all. Often it is just my wife and I, but last year we took over most of rooms and the whole family celebrated Thanksgiving with my 96 year old mother who lives in Desert Hot Springs. The location is great and the views are breathtaking. Eric is a gracious, thoughtful and wonderful host.

We loved our stay at the Getaway! We were in the area for a wedding and the location was perfect for all the various activities. Surrounding area was somewhat residential and very quiet. The rooms were comfortable and we were proved everything we needed. Beds were comfy, too. During our down time we enjoyed the common area patio and pool.

Loved it! Pristine mid-century apartments with fun and nostalgic touches. Beautiful view of PS and the San Jacinto Mtns. Centrally located but also a bit off the beaten path, with interesting things to explore nearby. Looking forward to our next visit!!

Super cute place! Our room was decorated in vintage style and it was fun browsing through the books and vintage items in all the rooms - including dishes! It was very quiet (we stayed 2 weeknights) and the neighbors were courteous. We hike and adventure all day long, so we appreciated the quiet. The small 5-plex building sits atop a small hill and our room (#4) had a bit of a view over Desert Hot Springs and the pool/hot tub. It's near the Mission Creek, Pioneertown and Whitewater Creek Preserve areas, which is why we chose this location. It was easy to shoot up to Hwy 62 to the preserves. All the usual amenities made The Getaway comfortable. It is a bit off the beaten path and not really within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and shops, which was fine for us.

The Getaway is really what it says on the box. You wake up to a perfect view of Mt San Jacinto, and the valley stretched out below where Palm Springs lies. The accommodation itself is superb. Every bit of detail has been thought about. It is like stepping back in time to a chic but cool 1950's holiday unit. The decor and little touches make it feel as if you are returning to your own holiday home: magazines, books, music, board games. A good sized lounge, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Then there is the pool area which is a sheltered sunny spot to lie and enjoy the quiet of the desert. We also met the lovely owner Eric who pointed out places to visit in the area. We took his advice and had an unforgettable weekend. Highly recommend.Noteworthy details: Being situated in Desert Hot Springs makes it an easy hop off to Joshua Tree.

The Getaway is a very special place. I'm a little bit hesitant to leave this review because I don't want it to be discovered! That being said, I feel like I owe Eric, the host, a 5 star rating & review because I got the 5 star treatment myself. When the flooding started in N. CA, I got in the car and started driving south with my dog. Fortunately, the Getaway had an available unit, which turned out to be perfect--a very comfortable one bedroom apartment. The unit is just as described...mid-century with all the necessary comforts. Although the host doesn't live on the property, he makes a real effort to make sure his guests are comfortable and is within close enough proximity to take care of anything that might require his attention. I can't wait to go back!

An awesome, private getaway with star gazing and heated pool & spa. The 5 one bedroom apartments were thoughtfully decorated and very clean & functional. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend to other large groups!

The Getaway is such a lovely spot to spend a weekend away! Eric has such a wonderful design sense, and the units are a perfect mix of homey and stylish. Beds are a nice firm sleep too! Highly recommended.

The Getaway in Desert Hot Springs is the perfect resort to stay at when visiting the Palm Springs area.The rooms are comfortable modernist design lots of light and quiet. Its a great place to entertain friends and family.I highly recommend a stay at the getaway!

awesome location overseeing the entire valley with san gabriel mountain range in the back. the rooms are furnished and decorated with the trained eye of a designer and the heart for a little nostalgia. the outside yard with oool and jacuzzi is all you can ask for to chill and hang out. everything kept in super clean state. Been many times over, always coming back.

I will likely repeat my stay at this beautiful small mid century hotel with period appointments. The suite and facilities were meticulous and the price quite reasonable. Eric is a great host and I enjoyed mingling with the other guests.

we stayed at the getaway to attend a concert this past weekend. I have to say that I read the reviews and there were a few negative , but most of them positive, we decided to try it out.. Eric was an exceptional host that was very friendly and accommodating,..he made sure our stay was fabulous and very relaxing. we had the whole place to ourselves ,,apparently it's off season in Coachella valley , which was to our benefit . it was a very nostalgic place and gave those feelings when we walked into our room. the decor made me feel like a kid again and the place was IMMACULATE.. SUPER CLEAN and smelled so nice. very good pricing for the room and there is a fee but it's disclosed in the contract , which isn't bad considering the amenities and work and thought into making guests comfortable and content . I will come back to stay even just to get out of traffic and crowds of Los Angeles . thank you getaway for an amazing getaway . and thanks Eric for this gem in the desert. you guys have to stay there ..it's wonderful ?

I had a fabulous stay at The Getaway #5! Quiet, comfortable, well equipped and clean. We only stayed two nights in order to explore Joshua Tree, but I wish we could have stayed longer. We decided to cook dinner one night, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Gorgeous views of both sunrise and sunset. Eric was quick to respond and had lots of great local suggestions. Can't recommend more.

First thing I loved about the place was the view. It was great during the day and night.Then as you walk in the gate very clean and nice pool and hot tub. Then i walked in to my room and it was a nice 1 bedroom, full kitchen, full restroom and then to top it off it had a living room. Very clean and quite. Lov3d everything about it. Would not hesitate to stay again. Great place i would recommend to everyone who wants some peace and quiet. The care taker was very nice and welcoming.
