I’ve lived here for a year now, and it’s good! I would recommend The Grove to anyone considering it.
I’m pretty surprised to see some negative reviews for the management here. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but Jessica has answered all our questions within the same day (even when I emailed on a weekend or holiday), and all of our maintenance requests have been completed within one or two business days. The management is extremely helpful!

Writing this review on move out day. I’ve lived here two years, and my brother 3 years.
Cannot say enough about how kind, considerate and timely management and maintenance have been the entire time. If I have an issue, maintenance is there same day. I always forget his name, but the maintenance manager who I’ve dealt with is amazing. He explains the issues in a way that make sense, and will often fix things we didn’t even realize were broken. Like the caulking on my toilet needed to be redone, he was there the same day and also noticed that my bathroom door was slightly askew, so he fixed that too.
As for management, Jessica is kind and patient and works WAY too hard. Girl will answer my emails after business hours and I appreciate the devotion. She is adept at problem solving, and has always gone the extra mile for us as tenants.
I cannot stress this enough. Every apartment / house I live in from now on will be working against my experience here at the grove. My fear is that I’ll never experience such an on-hand, communicative team as what’s here at The Grove. I might be talking myself into moving back in next year lmao I definitely feel like I took them for granted. Thank you guys for providing such an easy-going tenancy.

I have been living at The Grove for the past three years and plan to live here for the future. My neighbors are friendly and always happy to see me to strike a conversation. In addition, the Grove has mixture of all walks of life that makes it more exciting community.
Also, Jessica whom I have contacted most of the time for issues, is always courteous and responds in a timely manner. Whenever I put an order in for a service, within one day it is fixed, sometimes on the same day if I put it in the order in the morning.
I highly recommend The Grove to anyone that would like to live in a quiet well mannered community.

Worst management ever.

I lived there for a couple years, and I loved it, but I don’t really trust the management because they always would try to make you regret being there. Once you want to move out, they become aggressive and unhelpful. Don’t trust them, and don’t take their word, because they will never be honest. Their initial statements contradicted what my replacement tenants were later told. I did sublease my apartment for others, and the manager said the renewal lease raise would be something like 4-5%, but when the new tenants tried to get it done, they were told to renew for more than 10% of the last rate. This drastic difference was never explained, adding to the frustration and feeling of being misled.Update: Feb 19th, 2024The management are trying to hide my review in google maps but that won’t happen and would prove what I did write about them earlier.

Great management. The team has been very responsive to any request no matter how big or small.

As a student this a great location, especially if you rely on the bus. Although the distance is a little far, the lines are direct and quick making it very convenient to get to campus. Place is older, and you can see imperfections in units described by other reviews; however the rent is affordable and maintenance and management is quick and responsive. Highly recommend to other students. One of the few affordable three bedroom apartment options available in Davis for students.

I haven't moved in yet, and when I do I will update. Jessica is very sweet and responsive. It was the easiest and quickest application process. Definitely ready to move in :)

Best place I’ve ever rented. Really clean when I moved in. Neat and well kept apt complex. Very quiet and nice neighborhood. There’s a lot of parks in the area to walk my dogs. Located behind the food court.

I loved living here. Before the Grove i lived at Parkside apt on F st here in Davis and this was a big upgrade management wise. The apartments are always kept clean and its quiet and a great amount of shade. I was lucky to get one of the larger sized balconies. Neighbors are nice and pet friendly. Anytime anything went wrong with my apt it was fixed if not the same day the next. The only reason Im leaving is due to long commute to sacramento-roseville area but will miss living here very much. Management responds very quickly through email. The maintenance guy is amazing! They even gave me paint to touch up the apartment so that i didnt have to go out of my way to buy one that matched the color. I had the master that had a 10x5 walk in closet and didnt realize how hard it was to find that. The prices are high but trust me when i say that it is worth it. Ive been looking for apartments in Sacramento and the neighborhoods are unsafe

I lived here for a little over a year. The apartment had just been "renovated" meaning they put in new appliances and painted over the dirt and grease on the walls. There were multiple holes in the kitchen floor that I was told would be fixed before I moved in and it wasn't done for 8-10 months when there was a slab leak and the floors needed to be torn up to fix the leak. No matter how many times I vacuumed and mopped (mostly daily) I still saw random pincher bugs and roaches. I would avoid this place. I eventually moved out to Anderson place apartments (wonderful apartment)and had someone take over my lease because my upstairs neighbor was harassing me and management couldn't do anything about it

They just shut the power off over 10 days before they were suppose to, based on the fact that the grove is seperate from pg&e. How can rental units charge tennants rent and then shut down their power, due to discrenpencies with pg&e. This seems fair and unjust, especially for any apartment complex in Davis, CA.

I have lived in several apartments in Davis and other cities, and this has been the best complex. I recently moved out because I needed more space, but otherwise I would have been happy to stay here. The parking is good, there is always a spot even at night. The maintenance is fast and friendly. The manager was always very helpful, professional, and easy to work with. We never had problems with the laundry. The way to pay for utilities was annoying, but there was a bill in the mail each month. We had nice neighbors and a well maintained apartment, so it was a peaceful place to live. This is not a loud complex. And I am forever spoiled by living a two minute walk away from a grocery store!

I've lived in my 3-bedroom 2-bath apartment at the Grove for a year and a half now. It's fine, and things have definitely improved since I moved in here. As other reviews have noted, our manager now has an assistant, which means that there's usually someone in the office during regular hours (this was not the case until a few months ago, much to the frustration of many tenants) and the new guy doing maintenance is very helpful. We had a problem with our toilet for probably over a year, and it was finally fixed with a lasting solution. The manager has also helped me out at least once when I locked myself out, so I'm thankful for that. The apartments themselves seem pretty standard for Davis. The walls don't keep out much noise and there are a few projects that we were told would happen (re-doing the front doors for better insulation, painting) that never did. However, the 3-bedroom units have washers and dryers included, which is fantastic, and recently (summer 2015) had the backyards expanded. The management has been very flexible with letting us do what we want with our backyard, and it's great to have the extra space, a window onto a private area, and a few of neighbor-across-the-wall's lemons. At least for the 3-bedrooms, there is also ample covered bike parking. The Grove's location is another plus; it's very close to a beautiful bike path through Village Homes and has an entrance into Westlake Plaza, which has a grocery store, dollar store, pizza, taqueria, brewery (opening soon), and more. It's about 15 minutes to campus by bike or bus, and generally pretty quiet. There's a gas grill and a fine pool, but no exercise room. There aren't any "apartment community" activities here, but the office did offer breakfast foods on the go last finals week. It's also pet-friendly here and there are a couple of parking lot cats that are very sociable. Rent is expensive, utilities are not included, and I doubt that any claim of "free internet" should be trusted (we have AT&T and it's still pretty bad). In 2016-2017, the three of us in my apartment each paid $700/month just for rent, and the rate has gone up for next year. Overall: not the best deal you could find in Davis, but it continues to work for me because of the large backyard, great location, and vast improvement in the service over the last few months.
