I want to first clarify that I am not a Karen. I've never written a negative review before, but this breaks my heart.I want to share my recent experience at Petco, specifically regarding the condition of the leopard geckos. The store's conditions are alarming--the water bowls have visible MOLD. To add on top of that, leopard geckos store fat in their tails, so the fact that all of their geckos are extremely skinny is not a good sign. This has been an issue for as long as I've lived in Davis, I moved here last year. I purchased a gecko from here earlier this year, trying to save it. Unfortunately, it passed away after a few months. I consulted a reptile specialist who advised against buying from Petco due to potential diseases. Our gecko had major health issues, despite our efforts to provide proper care. I've had a leopard gecko for maybe 10 years now, I know how to take care of them. His tank had the perfect humidity gradient, and lots of places for him to climb and hide. He had everything he could ever need in there. There was no risk of impaction. The specialist's advice and treatment were unable to save our pet.The crickets purchased from Petco were suspected to be the source of a black spot in our gecko's stomach, leading to its passing. I urge Petco to address these concerns promptly and reassess their animal care practices. Potential customers should be aware of the risks associated with purchasing animals from this store.For a place that specializes in pet supplies and pets, it is extremely alarming how much neglect and abuse is shown for these poor animals. I wish they would do a better job of taking care of them. I'm disgusted.

Amazing service!! My daughter wanted a hamster (under my supervision). We went to Petco after we had the worst customer service at pet supplies. We were greeted when we came in. My daughter picked out a cage and food and we had questions on the different types of hamsters. The kind human that helped us gave us the information we needed to decide we would like the bigger hamster. We were allowed to meet the hamster in person before we bought the hamster. After we chose the hamster we wanted we were helped with choosing the right size cage and accessories. Such wonderful customer service. Sadly I didn't catch the amazing human that helped us but we appreciate them and will start doing our shopping at Petco I love the fact that they actually cared about our questions and helped us every step of the way.

First time trying grooming at a petco. I was wary cause of the reviews but my dog was extra stinky and needed a bath. Angela did a good job though so we will be coming back! The person at the register was nice as well. Thankfully I had a good experience.

Customer service is hit or miss. Most are pretty friendly but knowledge is random on the items sold. Definitely miss the good old days here about twenty years ago

so I called the store because we had an unexpected leopard gecko come our way lol and Roman answered the phone. HE WAS SO SWEET!! def like an amazing worker! he tried his best to help me out even tho he didn't know too much about them

Shout out to Natalie for doing a great job with Buster's haircut today! With the hot temps coming our way, I'm happy that Buster will be more comfortable during the summer. For reference, Buster is an almost two year old, 14 lbs shih tzu, poodle, terrier mix. He loves playing with a double doodle that has 50 lbs on him, so he can get pretty matted, especially behind the ears. PRICE:I paid $95 plus tip for Buster's bath, haircut, and the Essentials Plus package. His grooming appointments usually cost $85-$100. CUSTOMER SERVICE:Natalie talked about how short she recommended cutting, depending on the level of matting. I gave her free reign on how short his haircut would be, as my only preference is that he isn't overheating too much this summer. Natalie was friendly, listened attentively, and was overall very pleasant to interact with. APPOINTMENT/COMMUNICATION:Setting up an appointment was easy on the Petco website. I received a text message when Buster was ready for pick up. Pretty seamless experience.Thank you, Natalie! We will be back.

We have been coming to this place for a few years to pick up worms for our school bearded dragon, as well as the occasional cat bed and cat food. My daughter has been coming here since she was a baby and loves saying hi to all the animals. The staff has always been super friendly and very accommodating to the toddlers, we appreciate it so much!!

Completely based off of my experience right now with the floor and register staff. The man, the myth, the legend that is Roman! He saved me today. My poor Aussie has an ear infection and would not let me near his ears so we came in for a muzzle. He kindly showed us our options and expertly a showed us how to fit the muzzle onto our pup. Archer immediately took to Roman and gave no issues. He was the perfect angel with Roman! Roman is magic! The young blonde lady in the register was also so sweet, caring, and helpful with our purchases. Archer also loved her and felt at ease. The best Petco experience ever! Your team is the dream team for this Saturday morning. Bless you guys for giving us the confidence to properly use the muzzle and get these ear drops in for our fur baby!

I usually do an online pick up order for my dog's food and it's a nice easy process. Staff are friendly and parking is always easy.

If you're a person of color, don't shop here. I always forget how racist Davis can be because sometimes I have to come here to get service for my car. I went into Petco to get treats for my dog at least two young females were on their phones huddled up. I asked multiple times if I could check out please. That seem to bother them. I had two items and instead of just letting me get out of there quickly, they kept stopping to be on their phones. I said if you just help me and check me out you can go back to whatever you're doing. Then they started saying snotty remarks back as if I'm in the wrong for wanting to leave. I should've walked out when they were looking at me up-and-down. But I wanted my dog to get a little snack. I've never had bad service at a Petco before but I will never come back here again. Like I said I always forget how racist Davis can be until I go into someplace and I can't even get basic service. Shame on you and I don't regret calling you mean little bitches. Because that's what you were mean little bitches. I don't know if you are aware but your job at customer service so maybe get some coaching so that others aren't having to be burdened by your lack of basic human interaction skills. That was utter trash.

Groomers are beyond rude. They look miserable and take awful care of your pets. The lady who sits on her computer outside is so disrespectful and believes that she is the queen or something. It's ridiculous. The store manager on the other hand is great so thats for the 1 star.

Lazy staff. I show up and ask if someone can help me with some items in the fish section. The guy says we're understaffed. I walk around to look at some items, there are two guys, one I always see there, he's likely a mgr. or assist. mgr.. I don't think the mgr. heard the guy at the register make that comment. What's up with customer service and lazy people these days(?), it seems to be getting to be a progressively more pathetic state of affairs with retail. Don't ever turn a customer away because you don't want to help them. The guy just continued to sit at the register looking around. There were at least two people that I saw working there. I won't return to this store again. I'll go to Vacaville Petsmart from now one and drive further so that I can receive some decent service.
