Alex and Kaylin are both excellent trainers and a pleasure to work with. Our puppy has been taking classes with them and I highly recommend them. Blueberry is on her way to being a great dog, thanks to their help and guidance.

We adopted a 4.5mo old puppy in Feb 2022 and struggled with her stubbornness. We were at our wits end with her when we found Alex’s training program. We ended up doing group classes, an in home visit, and his walk and train program and could not have been happier with the results. He helped us understand our dog on a deeper level so that we can help her become a well mannered pup. I highly recommend meeting him and doing any of his training programs. His passion for dogs, and kind, respectful approach to training is what drew us to his business and I’m so glad we found him!

We just completed our 2nd session of puppy training with Alex. He came highly recommended by someone else so we figured we would give him a call. Since the moment we have started working with him it's obvious how passionate he is about dogs and having a well trained dog. He wants your dog to be part of the family in all the good ways. Our puppy classes are a combo of socializing, training, q&a's and everything in between. I was amazed at how well my boy did just from 1 class to the next. Alex offers a wealth of knowledge during class then we work on everything we have learned during the week it works perfectly plus he is always available for quick calls mid week if we have any questions or issues. So glad we found him! Don't hesitate to come check out what he likes to call "Sunday School"!

Alex is an extremely kind and knowledgeable trainer! I adopted a 5 month old high energy pup from the shelter that turned out to be leash reactive and have a high amount of anxiety. She would refuse treats, and run away if let off leash if she wasn't in a fenced area. His classes and private sessions helped me build the confidence in her and myself and she's turning into a great dog! I can now hike off leash with her and walk around my neighborhood with her in an off leash heel and it's only been 7 months since I adopted her! It takes a lot of time and determination but having his help has really accelerated her progress. I could not recommend him more!

Alex is a dog whisperer and no non-sense metaphysical guru for all your puppy and dog training needs. I am so trusting of his abilities that I am sure he could fix a dog that has been mishandled or acquired bad habits from the wrong kind of training or no training at all. Check him out in Davis, CA!

Alex is the worse trainer ever! Please do not take your dog to this trainer. I have never liked Alex and even less now after he mishandled our loving Estrella. He went over the top and held her down, so much that she pooped herself. I have never seen Estrella be this scared and I was shocked. I was in tears by the time we got back to our car because I know Estrella has never felt this way. By mishandling her, he popped a blood vessel in her eye. Alex apologized but it was too late.

Words cannot describe how grateful I am to Alex for helping me learn how to be a better dog handler. I adopted my dog from the animal shelter and began to notice behavioral issues due to fear and anxiety. My reactive dog would pull and try to lunge at strangers walking, biking, and on skateboards. I met with Alex for two private training sessions and noticed big improvements. Alex took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns, and even gave me tips on how to handle certain situations and recognize my dog’s body language to correct her before she starts lunging or reacting. I’ve been working hard to implement and continue training my dog using Alex’s tips, and have been so happy with the results. My dog no longer pulls and lunges, and we are able to calmly walk by all types of people without any reaction. We are at a point where I am now doing off-leash training, and taking her to dog parks to socialize with other people and dogs. All it took was 2 sessions with Alex for me to feel confident enough to train my dog.

We took my friend's 4 year-old Akita Theo to Alex Wallace for a consultation as to whether Theo had good temperament mainly because several people have asked to use Theo as a stub for their female Akitas. Alex said he could tell in the first 2 minutes of working with Theo that he is a calm, good natured, healthy dog. Alex was amazed at how well-trained Theo was even though Theo had never been through formal training classes. Alex spent the full hour evaluating Theo in different situations, giving input the whole time so we could both better understand dog behavior. At the end of the session Theo's owner asked Alex for advice regarding certain behaviors and Alex suggested creative, easy ways to modify these behaviors. Theo's owner is now looking forward to signing up for formal dog training courses here in Pacifica. If Alex practiced in Pacifica we would definitely sign up for Alex's dog training classes as per Alex's recommendations. We highly recommend Alex Wallace for service dog/regular dog training, giving input about breeding your dog, dog behavior modification and private consultation about next best steps to take with your individual dog.

We are so grateful we found Alex and Laughing Dogs Davis to help us with our rescue pup, Olive! When we first joined the group classes, Olive growled at any dog that even looked at her so we tried to hang out way in the back of class away from everyone. Alex noticed, and helped teach us and Olive how to be more comfortable just hanging out near other dogs and people. Now, Olive can (80% of the time) do her own thing and sit right next to another dog, even if that other dog is overexcited! Alex has given us the skills to continue working with Olive to bump that number up even higher. Additionally, Alex has created a great Laughing Dog Davis community that helps reinforce the training skills outside of class. Thanks to Alex and the Laughing Dog Davis community, Olive now has many more dog-friends and is a happy and playful pup. Highly recommend!

I have a one year old German Shepherd, Shadow, which I had been taking to a dog trainer since he was 6 month old. Shadow quickly learnt basic commands but was starting to show aggressive tendencies in some situations. My trainer was taking the summer off and I wanted to keep up the training so asked around for recommendations. Alex was recommended to me by several friends. In fact my vet had recommended laughing dogs when I was first looking for a trainer but I had been put off due to a 1 star yelp review in 2017. As I trusted my friends I decided to go watch the end of Alex's Sunday dog class. The class was performing routine commands which Shadow was already comfortable with but I wanted/needed a trainer for the summer so decided to introduce myself to Alex. Shadow introduced himself baring a full set of teeth and lunging in a very unwelcoming manner. Alex was not intimated. He took Shadow's leash and walked with him. Within a couple of minutes Shadow was walking nicely by Alex's side and had accepted dog treats. Impressed I signed up for 3 x 20minute private sessions. Each time Alex gave me techniques to use which were adapted over time to find the right combination for Shadow. The locations varied too allowing focus on Shadow's reaction in different situations. For example one session was set up outside the vet office to work on Shadow going comfortably from the car to the vets. Shadow has now been attending the Sunday group lessons for a month. I have observed Alex trying to ensure that each dog & owner is getting their issues dealt with. For example in one of the sessions Shadow went around the group and was introduced to each of the owners & dog individually. I watched Shadow accept food from one owner which was very impressive and that fact that he did not react during the whole exercise was amazing. In fact I have received several comments from other class members regarding how much improvement in Shadow's demeanor they have observed in such a short period of time. Dog training is a long process and Shadow and I will continue to attend the Sunday training sessions as well as Alex's new weekly evening group walk. I will also be a little more mindful in the future of the yelp reviews especially if given after a short encounter and especially if never attended a class.

100% Positive training. Trainers who understand and love dogs. Training is for the humans at least as much for the dogs. Professional, kind, fun.

Alex is a highly skilled trainer who truly knows how to educate dog owners of all ages with a balance between consistency and insight By teaching the skills necessary for us to gain confidence- to be prepared and anticipate reaction abs response! he is a natural! and I couldn't be happier with the results we achieved with our dog- Alex helped train our dog to become a service dog and spent a great deal of time, sharing his knowledge and practicing with us to achieve success.

Alex Wallace is extremely rude and unfriendly. On Monday evening, there was a couple that brought their extremely aggressive and terrified dogs to our local country club's membership-only dog park in West Davis. Their dogs (especially the aussie) were lunging at every single dog and biting them. They were both barking their heads off and had hackles raised and teeth bared. Me and a few other members waited outside the park to bring our dogs in to avoid our pups getting attacked. The owners refused to leave and claimed that the dogs were just "anxious" and not actually aggressive (as the dogs literally lunged at other pets and people in the background). The owner started cussing out one of the members waiting outside because she felt offended that we didn't feel safe bringing our dogs into the park. Eventually, the owner realized her dogs were problematic and one of the members offered to give her a super informative dog training book that he liked/used for his dog. She accepted, and he went all the way home and back to grab it. During this time, the owner called Alex Wallace to work with her dogs and he took the $30 training book and screamed at the member who had offered it to "take his damn book back" and that "they won't be needing it." He then threw the book down into the mud inside the park and walked off. Absolutely bizarre and inappropriate behavior for anyone, ESPECIALLY an adult trainer. Everyone at the park was stunned into silence.
