Today was a day! Our dog needed seizure meds refilled and while the vet team had sent it in (and resent it in), CVS continued to say they didn’t have it. It took multiple phone calls to both offices, and while it’s easy to get through to Tassajara Vet, it’s an ordeal to call CVS. When I called the vet the last time to see what other options I had as CVS was just terrible… I found out that Courtney and Mariah, absolute gems, had taken matters into their own hands. Mariah walked over to CVS with the prescription in hand to make sure the meds were filled as Charlie can not go without them. Courtney reassured me that she would be there to help if anything happened again at CVS…. To say they love their jobs and the animals they take care of… it really showed right there! That level of care and service is not something you hear about often, so I wanted to be sure to give them serious praise! Thank you, Courtney and Mariah!!! We appreciate the entire Tassajara Vet team so much. They have taken care of our fur babies for the last 19 years!

I've been a client at Tassajara Veterinary Clinic for 25+ years. Dr. Johnson, Dr. Dowd and their entire staff provides the best quality care and expertise. They are very knowledgeable and caring. Their facility is equipped with the latest technology. I truly appreciate the compassionate care they've provided for all our pets.

This place is run by mind numbingly stupid staff that will inconvenience you till you have to find a new place. What is the point of making an appointment months in advance if THEY ARE GOING TO CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT THE DAY BEFORE AND TRY TO SCHEDULE YOU 2 months out cause their pathetic staff decides not to come in one day.
The people who run this location are brain dead, unprofessional and will waste your time as they don’t even understand how to set simple appointment times correctly. Absolutely worthless brain dead staff.

Super disappointed in this place. I brought a cat found nearby in traffic here to be taken care of. I was lied to a number of times by them. Told me they would call the shelter and take care of the cat. Come to find out they put it down within 24 hrs of having possession of the cat. I called a few times on the following few days to confirm the cat was at the shelter, and they told me yes it was for sure taken to the shelter. Blatantly lying to me they said 'yes it is at the shelter sir', because they thought I wouldn't follow up. Disgusting treatment of an animal. Lied to me saying its face was cut up and was badly injured and was a crazy cat that could not be handled. Look how 'bad' the face was cut and how 'crazy' this cat was. Shame on them.

Took my pup there in August 2023 for the first time. Front desk can be friendlier but Dr. Johnson is great. He is nice & tentative. I appreciate that I don't feel like being forced to do many tests.

First time visiting Dr Dowd with my recently adopted 7 year old cat , Charlotte. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming . Dr Dowd is so gentle and loving during her exam that it was totally stress free for Charlotte. The vet tech who assisted was lovely as well. The office felt very welcoming and Dr Dowd took her time , didn’t rush , answered questions and made her self familiar with Charlotte and out her at ease. All around great experience

Tassajara Vet is truly top notch! I've been taking my dogs there for more than 15 years. All the doctors are awesome and so knowledgeable. Dr. Dowd and Dr. Miller are truly amazing and so compassionate! I want to say a big shout out to Melissa they helped me out so much with my dog Lilly after her surgery. Everyone that works there treats our furry friends like it's their pet. All the staff there are truly appreciated and valued. Thanks for being so wonderful!

First time ever going here. Expensive, and staff were not friendly. Looked like most worked there for a long time, so get away with attitudes. Nothing special here. I think if they were to fire one of the girls in the front, maybe the rest would start to care about their jobs and treat customers better.

We have been customers of Dr Campbell and Dowd for 20 years with various pets and always found the front staff and our Vets exceptional. I am sharing our deep disappointment over the past 3 weeks when attempting to be seen with dog. We were told the bookings are 2 weeks out and we made an appointment. I then called 2 times begging for an earlier appointment in fear our dog was in dire circumstances as her health declined. We received no compassion or emotional concern, just a factual statement- we have no openings. No one mentioned any emergency slots or possibility to consult with the Vet to squeeze her in. We called on Friday night and begged to be seen on Saturday and left a message. We received no return call on Saturday morning by 10am. I called and again asked if anyone heard our message and was told, "no". We were allotted a 10:30am slot at 10am and I said we need to get dressed and get her into the car. We drove over and we arrived at 10:40, 10 minutes late due to our struggles to get a sick 60 lb dog in the car and waited for 5 minutes to be addressed at the counter, only to be told we were late and could not be seen. We were turned away and told to go to the local ER. I am furious at the lack of compassion, accommodation, and impersonal treatment by the front office staff. I work in healthcare and know that 70% of patients will switch Doctors due to a single poor interaction. We are leaving Tassajara and recommend you train your front office staff in customer service and compassion with customers. I'm sure we can find another clinic who will provide the personalized care and concern we once cherished at Tassajara. We were able to get into another vet on Monday.

I want to give a shout out to Dr. Dowd at Tassajara Veterinary Clinic. Today, most clinics are corporately owned and run with the veterinaries commissioned employees. Tassajara Veterinary Clinic remains one of the few veterinarian owned clinics in the area. Dr. Dowd is not only an accomplished veterinarian but also a very insightful diagnostician. She has treated my dogs and cats for many years. Working with her has always been a great experience. Both her front of office staff and her colleague veterinarians have treated me and my dogs and cats with the utmost respect and consideration. After having bad experiences at larger corporate owned veterinary clinics in the Tri Valley area, I greatly appreciate everyone at Tassajara Veterinary Clinic.

Two days after a recent appointment to see Dr. Dowd about my dog's ear infection, I received a brief (two sentence) letter in the mail informing me that the doctor would no longer care for my dog. The letter stunned and saddened me, particularly since Dr. Dowd has been my dog's veterinarian for 7 years. I called Dr. Dowd's office in order to discuss the matter. Because I was unable to reach the doctor directly, I left a VM asking her to discuss with me the reasons why she had dropped my dog's care. Still no response. I called the office two more times over the next few weeks. Still no response. Finally, the front desk got back to me and informed me that Dr. Dowd was dropping my dog, because she felt that I was not following the doctor's recommendations and that there was "nothing more the doctor could do" for my pet. ( I followed up with a letter requesting a conversation, and again I received no reply). The only conceivable thing I can think of that might have upset Dr. Dowd is that I did not immediately jump into the surgery option for my dog's "possible" TPLO tear. Instead I elected to provide him rest and supplements in addition to his already healthy diet with the hopes that he will mend holistically. (Of course, if this regimen is unsuccessful, I will keep the options open and consider surgery.) If Dr. Dowd had concerns about how I was caring for my dog, an honest conversation would have been the professional and humane thing to do after 7 years of treating him, rather than writing me a 2 sentence letter. This episode has been highly unsettling to me, as I have always wanted the best for my dog.
