I wanted to update this, I reported this school to the licensing board for allowing my son to chew a cheese stick covered in plastic (and fail to inform me about it) and they did receive a citation. I hope this will help them to improve, especially Fedra, who should take parents concerns and the safety of the children more seriously.

We could not love this school more! It has been the absolute best fit for our family for many of the same reasons listed in other reviews. A few of the top reasons why we love it are both of our daughters can go to the same place, which is hard to find. They have an infant/toddler room, so our youngest started there at 14 months while our middle daughter started at 16 months. The middle is now almost 3 and we still say all the time how lucky we were to find SVDS when she was 16 months. Second, the teacher to student ratio is the lowest I've had experience with or seen at other schools. Third and by no means least, Fedra, the owner and school director could not be more amazing. I've told her before that it feels like she treats your kids like the only ones that go to that school. She knows everything about their day and I don't know how she does it. They have a wonderful outdoor space and I know my kids are well taken care of and loved everyday.

I can't say enough great things about this school! When looking for childcare, I toured at least 10 other schools in the area (some of them twice!) before seeing this school. I knew immediately following our tour and visit with the amazing director Fedra, that this school was the one for our family! It was quiet, clean and it felt so safe and private, tucked off the main road next to the scenic hills and sycamore valley park. Even though we toured after hours, you could feel what a warm, positive and fun place the school was. We signed up the very next morning! There are so many great things about the school, I have highlighted just a few below:-Location. As I mentioned above, this school is tucked away off of Camino Tassajara, nestled against the hills and right next to sycamore valley park. It feels very safe and private. Also the kids see lots of turkeys and wildlife daily. -Great outdoor space! Easily the best outdoor space of all of the 10 schools I toured. Large, shaded, scenic and they even have chickens the kids can help care for! -Amazing teachers and staff! We have loved all of their teachers! They have all been experienced, kind, and patient -The BEST summer program! It's like a summer camp, and I wish I went to something like this when I was a kid! Cooking, art, water play days, bounce house, even an occasional visit from the ice cream truck! Every day is something so fun my kids look forward to. -The amazing director Fedra. She puts her heart and soul into this school and it shows. In addition to running this whole school, dealing with the administrative side of things, etc, She is extremely hands on, often changing diapers, holding babies and playing outside with the kids. This is a rare thing to find these days, and it shows how much she truly loves kids. I am so happy we found this school. If you're searching for schools, do your child a favor and tour this school!

If you're looking for an amazing preschool, you have found it. This place is a gem. I started my daughter at Sycamore Valley Day School last June and am very happy with my decision. Previously, she was at another preschool where she cried almost daily at dropoff (for an entire 8 months). We made the decision to switch her preschool and I was concerned with how she would do at a new place but I knew it was necessary to switch her school. The director of SVDS, Fedra, and her teacher Ms. Kathy have been extremely attentive and helpful in getting her acclimated. Fedra would wait for my daughter at dropoff to feed their chickens (the school has an awesome chicken coupe). Fedra knew my daughter liked animals and it was so thoughtful that she would wait for my daughter to feed the chickens. She truly cares about each child and their comfort and happiness. So after only 2 short weeks of crying at drop off, my daughter was no longer crying and actually wanting to go to school! Since starting SVDS, my previously reserved daughter has blossomed into a happy and social girl and has thrived. She is currently learning how to write and is enjoying all of the neat art/science projects that Ms Kathy does with her students. She also enjoys playing outside on their playground. The location of the school is great. It is nestled up near a beautiful open hiking space and adjacent to a large field and park. The children see nature and beauty. With that also comes privacy and safety. There is a gate which remains locked during school hours. They have also helped us in the potty training process, which hasn't come easy for my daughter. It's nice that potty training is not a requirement and is also great that they are so am willing to help when the time is right. I am happy to give this preschool 5 stars and really hand nothing but positive things to say about our experience. We are lucky to have found SVDS. We will be starting our son in their infant/toddler room in a couple months! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sycamore Valley Day School!

We send both our kids to sycamore valley day school and absolutely love it. We switched preschools, and visited half a dozen other schools before choosing sycamore valley day school. What sets it apart are the following:Teachers: Ms Charlene, Kathy, Sindy, Mariam and all the other teachers clearly love what they do and care deeply about their students and their well being. It comes through in every interaction with them, how much they are learning, and it's clear from the kids how much they they love their class. The environment: The school is tucked back against the hills and right next to sycamore valley park. The outdoor playground is huge with lots of trees and shade. There's a nice chicken coop with friendly chickens who run around inside the yard, and often turkeys and deer outside it. It's unique to be located right next to a huge park. This makes it possible for even the infant class to have mini field trips to the park. Ms Fedra: Perhaps, most of all, Fedra makes this school stand out. She clearly loves and cares deeply for the kids and her school. She's extremely active and involved, and is always the first one there, and often the last to leave. She's hired great teachers, kept class sizes intentionally small, offers huge snacks which our kids love, and cultivated this really wonderful small school feel. All the kids know each other, and it's adorable to watch at pick up time all the kids giving hugs and saying good bye to each other. We are already sad knowing that someday our kids will have to graduate and leave this wonderful school.

We just moved to Danville and had to find a daycare for our son. I selected Sycamore Valley Day School because of the program, location (it's at the base of the open preserve and near Sycamore Valley Elementary, very safe and secure), and Ms. Fedra (the owner and director). We are beyond happy with our experience. Our son loves the school, his teacher Ms. Xenia, his friends, and all the other teachers and helpers. He used to be clingy at drop off, but at Sycamore, he looks forward to his day and walks in with full confidence. It's a well run school and program, and it's impressive how Ms. Fedra has adapted and coped through Covid, which must have been difficult. Highly recommended!

This was the first school my son and I toured and only school. We were new to the area so I wasn't sure how many or which school is was going to vibe with. After our tour, he did not want to leave and wanted to stay to play with his friends. Needless to say, we have been very happy with the staff and Ms. Fedra is beyond amazing with all her littles. My niece now attends 3/week but will most likely go daily come next year. Highly recommend

We sent 2 kids here, and we were very glad to have found this place. The building was a bit dated, but don't judge this book by its cover. The staff is stable, passionate, loving, supportive, and responsive. We feel like being a part of a big family.Education: They do many activities and projects (i.e., arts, cooking). There's a lady (forgot her name) that comes by and plays guitar regularly. The playground is spacious, so kids are free to ride tricycles, climb and jump around the play structure. They even have their own chicken coup and a small garden. Snacks are provided twice a day, often including omelets. We like the balanced approach, stimulating kids' creativity and independence.Fedra, the principal, greets you every morning when we drop the kids off. She also visits classes regularly.
