My wife and I were extremely dissatisfied with Jill Cherne as our real estate agent ( she works for Keller Williams). We hired her in March 2023 to sell our beautiful former model home with million dollar views of Mount Diablo and the Brentwood Shadow Lakes Golf Course.Prior to our house going on MLS she told us she had an offer, and, when I asked questions, she assured us it was a "GREAT" "GREAT" offer.At that time, she did not disclose to us when presenting the offer or inform us at any time prior to signing that she was also acting as the buyer's agent. My wife was not present during her visit to my home to talk about the offer. We received the 20 page docusign contract later that day and unfortunately failed to notice she had marked on the contract she was acting as the buyers agent.Also, we are in our mid seventies and, at the time, we were extremely tired from getting the house prepared for the MLS and preparing for a house-hunting trip to Arizona early the next morning.If Ms Cherne had verbally informed us she was acting as a dual agent prior to signing the contract, we would have never signed the contract as we feel very strongly that we lost thousands of dollars on her advice that it was a great great offer. Later, she admitted, via text, that she thought she was being direct and transparent (about the dual agency).Real estate agents have the duty of making sure their clients are fully informed and clearly understand everything, especially since selling a house can be extremely stressful and tiring.It is our belief that a real estate agent cannot represent the buyer and seller without risking a conflict of interest for one party.
