My little 8lb maltese mix would not eat and was super lethargic, she is usually a ball of energy - can go on 4-5 miles hikes- but she is a very picky eater and is sensitive to new foods - and we have to watch her closely on walks or hikes because she will try to eat garbage. Upon calling they fit us in right away and treated her with an IV and found that she had eaten some tissue paper. They told us they didn't think she needed an x-ray to see if there was more tissue but would do so if she did not improve. It took her two more days to fully recover and they called us twice to check in. They could have charged us for an xray and we would have approved as we were so worried given she had barely eaten and only drank a water for a few days but they take an appropriately conservative approach unlike two other local vets we went to years ago who would overcharge before discovering HK animal hospital. We have now been with them for more than 7 years and are so glad to have found them. They have also treated our vizslas. They are the best -the vets are thorough and kind and the entire team there are caring, efficient and supportive.

This review is long overdue. Princess and Snowflake received excellent and professional care at the hands of Dr. Kang and his staff. Dr. Kang is very knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. His staff are an extension of him and they run a very neat and tidy clinic. Our dogs love their office and always come home feeling much better soon after. Thank you Dr. Kang and staff!

What an amazingly kind and compassionate doctor. Doctor K is incredible! He is so kind and down to earth and truly gave my sweet dog the best care ever! She recently passed but he was so amazing with all of her health problems. Doctor k extended her years! I'm forever grateful for the great care he took in Shylas health as she aged. My previous vet sort of gave up on her. Doctor K is the best! I'd definitely recommend him!

I called HK last week in desperation after finding a sick stray cat...Everyone at this place (especially Amy and Maddie) showed concern and encouraged me to come right in despite their full schedule. My own vet, while being wonderful...was just too busy :(
Dr. K showed compassion, expertise and common sense and really put me at ease. Thought we were "done" with animals after losing our dog and two cats...but this place makes me want to get another pet. If they treat stray animals like this...gee how do they treat regular pet owners. Just fantastic, run don't walk.

I want to start by saying that my review is not reflective of Dr. Kang or his staff. They are the only reason why I continue to be a loyal client for the times they have been able to see my furbaby, the service & care has always been exceptional. My review is more based on the operation of the business. Our fur baby has been in Dr. Kang's care since she was a puppy to now 7.5 years old. Over the last year we have had 3 urgent situations in which we were not able to be seen the same day, instead it was providing advice over the phone and see how the pup does. In all three situations the condition of my fur baby worsened and the response was always deferring us to ER Vet since they don't have any openings. This has been the frustrating part...needless visits to the ER costing us $1k - $2k per visit (ear infection, paw allergy/infection, GI Upset). A few suggestions I hope HK will consider: 1. Consider your long term loyal patients who seek care in truly urgent situations 2. Days have been reduced from 7 days to 5 days which I completely understand (short staffed, work life balance, cost of running a business, etc.). But maybe don't take on more new patients if you're unable to provide the care & service to your current long term patients. 3. Don't advertise on your website under services provided section: emergency services & diagnostics services when this is not actually happening (seems like others have been experiencing the same frustrations with not being able to get appointments in a timely manner/same day for urgent situations) 4. If you are taking on more patients consider having a better system in place with appointment reminders, vaccination reminders, wellness check reminders, etc. Technology can help streamline your office operations to be more efficient & your patients will appreciate these extra steps you take.

I've been going to HK Animal Hospital for many years and have been overall very happy... until now. I just called them because my dog is suffering with an obvious infection that needs medical attention. At first they said sorry the next available appointment is a month away. After pressing them they said they could see him in 2 weeks. A caring Vet should always make time for a sick animal. HK Animal Hospital seems to not have the care and compassion to make time or squeeze in an appointment for suffering animals. Unfortunately after many years I will be searching for a new Vet.

Cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Kang and his staff. From the very first moment I brought my dog Mikey into the office, I was deeply impressed and touched by Dr. Kang and his staff's compassion and kindness. Not only does the office provide fantastic and reasonably priced care, but Dr. K has never failed to be incredibly patient with us when we were worried or had a number of questions. Everyone we have met in the office is attentive, thorough and kind. Thank you for taking such great care of us! I can't imagine taking my dog or any of my future pets anywhere else. Highly recommend Dr. Kang and his office to anyone looking for a vet!

This is what happened to my dog at HK animal. I took him on April 13th here for flea bite and Hotspot under chin and leg..after first week he get more Hotspot on his back and second week he get more hot spot on the back. I called them he getting worse, took him back and get more worse again. I took him back on May 11th for more Check up and he gave him more medications. After few days later he's skin not getting better. I called them again all of medications he gave to my dog made him vomiting two or three times a day. May 25th when i woke up in the morning i noticed all of his body got blisters and I called HK vet but they told me bring my dog tomorrow. I couldn't wait until tomorro. I took him VEG(emergency) but they don't have a skin doctor and recommended me dermatology. I been waiting long time to get my dog dermatology and find out diagnosis of my dog. After biopsy test result autoimmune disease pemphigus. I asked dermatology my dog is 12 years old how he got autoimmune disease pemphigus all of sudden. She told me when you took your dog HK Vet he was look like this I said no..I took him for flea bite and Hotspot that mean they did something wrong with my dog. I called dermatology office everyday asked them there is any cancelation and cardiology too because its so hard to get appointment. My dog also has heart problem make sure his safe with steroid treatment. After few months later my dog start treatment with new dermatology who I really like. She told me my dog has allergy but they gave him wrong medication that's why his skin got autoimmune disease pemphigus. He like to go to dog park everyday but now his fighting for his life everyday. This place not only gave my dog autoimmune disease pemphigus but also destroyed his happiness. I gave my trust to them taking care of my dog but they gave him autoimmune disease pemphigus literally they ruin my dog life. Please go big animal hospital when your dog sick or injured. That's what I learned. I'm feel so sorry to my dog I should never take my dog this place.
