I don't care what anyone else says. This is the most wholesome, comfortable, and most excellent hotel. The rooms are so nice with all the necessary amenities, the food is lovely, and the staff goes out of their way to get to know you and help you. It is an animal-friendly environment; everyone is kind, and the views are amazing. 11/10 experience
Walkability: SUPER close to downtown Dana Point and all of the beaches!

Since our usual hotel we stay at in Dana Point was closed for renovations we decided to stay here instead and it was awfully disappointing.
They are lucky this place has such a great location. We checked in the first night and the fire alarm AND co2 alarm in our room was dying so they chirped all through the night. The hotel never showed up the next day to fix it so I had to unplug it from the wall and bring it down to the front desk again to ask them to fix it. And it was never replaced by the time we left 3 days later.
For the most part the staff is nice, EXCEPT for middle aged lady with reddish hair (forgot her name) but she is unbelievably rude and borderline insulting. For example she mocked me and my family for wanting to go to Turk’s which is my favorite dive bar and the first place in Dana Point my dad ever took me when I was a child. We wanted to go there for my 30th birthday and she went on to make fun of that. She alone essentially ruined our weekend and we will never be returning. Which is sad because we do love the location’s beautiful views from this hotel. But unfortunately after our stay we will not be returning. Ever.

Our executive team loved the inn, the meeting space, and the room setup. The Blue Lantern Inn team was very accommodating. Carmen was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the process. We look forward to having future meetings here.

I made the reservation and requested an early check in, I made myself available to pay the difference if necessary or to change rooms but the delay when I arrived at the hotel to check if there were any rooms available was disrespectful. It is not a cheap value to leave the guest waiting to manually check all the rooms before they can make only one available to their customer. I was totally disgusted to have chosen this hotel.

Our stay at Blue Lantern Inn was an absolute delight, and much of that credit goes to Stan, the exceptional manager. From the moment we arrived, his warmth and professionalism made us feel like honored guests. We can't wait to return to Blue Lantern Inn. Highly recommended!

I loved this inn! I stayed 2 nights here & wish I spent more just for this place. They gave me luggage storage when my room wasn't quite ready & I had gone to Disneyland that day so I came back a bit later & I was scared at first when the door was locked, but waited for a few minutes outside after pressing door buzzer & someone let me in then I got checked in around 9pm.
When I got in my room, there was a letter welcoming me to the Blue Lantern which was really nice! There was a blanket laid out at the end of the bed & a fireplace. I stayed during storm week so both of these were greatly appreciated! I felt very warm during my stay. There was also a nespresso machine that I used for the coffee pods it gave & it was good, but I had to continously press the button a few times for mine to work. I think my nespresso machine was my only negative or I was just lacking patience with it.
My favorite part of the room was the bath. They gave Lavender & Chamomile bath salts to go with the fast or slow jets the bath had & I honestly wanted to take the bath home with me ? I would come back to Dana just for the bath. There is no pool at this inn, but it didn't feel needed since the bath was incredible itself.
On my last night, I went to the wine & cheese time which overlapped with the fresh cookie time at the inn. There were gluten free options for the cookies & I thought that was a nice inclusion. A rainbow appeared while I was partaking in these little events & it was a perfect end. I've told a few friends & relatives about the Blue Lantern Inn & hope to come back again soon. Everyone was really welcoming & kind, thank you for a nice stay!

They need to pay more attention to their errors. We had a horrible night there. They offer us another night. So we did, it was a much nicer room. Got a letter on my email. Asking us to please understand how upset they were by what happened. Went to use it. They would not honor it. It was posed from the corporate office. Very disappointing. We were going to celebrate the birthday they messed up for us last year. We’ve been staying with them all over California for 25 years. Especially when they were the Black Swan in SF. Loyalty now a days means nothing!!!!

Nice views if you pay a bit more. Comfy large rooms and baths. I know lots of folks like these breakfasts with trays of eggs, bacon, etc. I'd rather have higher quality and less farmhouse food. Fresh muffins were good quality but croissants, plain yogurt would help.

Nice place with beautiful views of Dana Point harbor.Room was decent sized with a fireplace, jacuzzi tub and nice patio.Breakfast was great and plentiful. Staff were all excellent.My issue with this place is that the hot water in the shower did not work. When I called the front desk to inquire about it, I was asked what room I was in and then to turn the hot water on in the jacuzzi, then the hot water in the shower would work.For a $600+ a night room, this should not be an issue.

We loved the Inn so much it was difficult to leave. The breakfast in bed deliveries, the beautiful balcony views, the afternoon charcuterie, and oh my goodness, the breakfast burrito! Ten out of ten. The staff was kind and accommodating. The hot tea selection, and the fresh fruit water daily. If you’re looking for a serene get away look no further.Rooms: Clean & full of amenities.Nearby activities: Manicured Walking trails
