Dr. Susan Longar is the finest and most-capable physician my family has ever had.
Under her watchful gaze, her office is the epitome of what a doctor’s visit, or an operation, should be: from check-in, through check-up, and to check-out.
Most importantly though, when you go to “see” Dr. Longar, she sees you not just as a patient, but also has a human being, and engages her encyclopedic knowledge with a gentle touch, addressing the distinct needs of each person with attention and kindness.
Put simply, she puts the “I care,” in eye-care!

Appointment started 15 mins late, we had to wait again to talk to the doctor, they told us 15-20 mins but we have been waiting for 45 mins and still waiting.
No regard for time here.

I have been a patient of Dr Longar for over a decade and over that period of time have experienced professional and courteous treatment by her front office and support staff including the optical department. Shout out to Dr Longar for her care, thoughtfulness and recent advice and treatment of my cataracts which were planned smoothly including pre-op, operative and post-operative care. Her surgical team was on top of things from scheduling and eyedrops/eyedrops prescriptions. The surgical procedure went smoothly with caring professional staff at Seton Medical Center. My PanOptix lenses are incredible have me back to reading without prescription glasses! I know Dr Longar treats more complex eye diseases and highly recommend her and her team for ophthalmologic care.

Please train your front desk personnel to be more courteous and patient when dealing with patients.Date of incident: 12/07/2023Time of incident: 1400Description: hefty Hispanic woman wearing orange glasses, hair pulled back in low bun. Did not even introduce herself. I also work in healthcare and this is not how you treat or talk to patients. Very rude, condescending and impatient when asking about insurance. If you cannot maintain your composure when answering these questions, perhaps you should work elsewhere.Update: Been coming here for over 10 years and did not have a negative encounter until today. Staff apologized after seeing this review so they seem to genuinely care about their patients which is appreciated. Other than that, everyone else in this office seems super friendly. In and out in 1.5 hours, not too bad.

I visited Dr.Susan Longar a few months ago for eye exams, and though I was given unfortunate news about glaucoma and lost peripheral vision, Dr.Longar was reassuring and comforting and made sure that I understood the treatment plan. She also recently performed cataract surgery on both my eyes, was the most kind and caring doctor, and actually listened to my concerns and patiently answered all my questions- pre and post surgery. After each of my eye surgeries, she called me later in the evening to check to make sure I was feeling ok. She genuinely cares for her patients and makes sure to put one's mind at ease. Her team in the operation theater were extremely kind and thoughtful and I was absolutely comfortable throughout the procedure. I highly recommend her.

I was referral to this office by another optometrist office and i have some fillings they make business together. First visit spend time arrive to office front desk representative has no idea about anything i have to canceled appointment and leave. Call office to confirm all information on how everything works, provide insurance, and prove that everything approve make appointment and surprise:1) You need to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork.2) Waiting time 30 minutes after your appointment.3) Test time 1 hour if lucky.4) Then you have to get another test with eye drop and wait another 45 minutes to see doctor but they forget to let you now after this test you can't drive car for at least 4 hours.5) If you like to get glasses prescription it will be additional charge for $55.00 out of packet.I have only one simple question to office employee why i got all this information after i arrived to my appointment lost working day and money.I don't have any idea who put 5 star to this horrible facility. Please be make sure if you dealing with this garbage place to ask all question before you step in.Batter solution to find professional facility who really care about patience. Looks like this facility care only about how much they can cheat you for. After my visit to this office, I was called and talked to office manager who was really surprised about issues I have when I was visiting this facility. He was promised everything will be done professionally if I agreed to make another appointment. Come second time and my experience was worse than the first. What is most important this office has lots of bad reviews, and no one never responds back to unhappy patients.

Dr. Longar performed surgeries on both of my eyes with extreme skills. She did it efficiently with an excellent team working with her. She mastered all phases of the procedure effectively with good commands and engagement with her team. Now I can enjoy my 20/20 vision. More gratefully, she also provides accurate diagnosis to my husband's eye health and provides an excellent treatment plan and prescribes accurate medication to resolve the ineffective medication that my husband had from prior doctors. Dr. Longar displays a very caring and charismatic personality during the consultation visits. It is a great find for doctor Longar as we are both so happy to enjoy great vision and can trust her for our eye care health with her for as long as she is practicing. We are also happy to find out that her son is following her footstep as a Ophthalmologist as well. It is such a great pleasure to know this highly respected professional family.

I had gone to Dr. Longar for many years for just general eyecare and glasses. I was always very impressed . Approximately four years Dr Longar suggested that I get lenses for my eyes along with cataract surgery. She said she could no longer improve my eyesight with prescription glasses, I did take her recommendation, but I regret doing it now. She informed me at the time of several risks of side effects one being driving at night and struggling with too much glare from oncoming traffic. She shared that normally that goes away but could take up to a year- but for me it never did. I had gone back to her office a couple of times post surgery complaining about the situation and they said everything looked fine but would take more time. I finally went to get a second opinion at UCSF ophthalmology department and they told me the reason I was having this ongoing issue was because because one of my lenses was not on center allowing light to shine directly into my iris. They also told me that there was really nothing they could do about it at this point without risking my eyesight altogether to try to fix it because of a post surgery zapping of the back of my eye that Dr Longar conducted post surgery- so I’m left with night driving, almost impossible for me. Of course, the legal limit to be able to file a suit at that point had passed . I’m still a fairly young woman so to have that limitation for the rest of my life is quite a challenge. The doctors at UCSF also shared that if I had come to them, they would have recommend that I not get the lenses that were put into my eyes because of these risks of surgery and just stayed with glasses. My eyesight is not improved at all as a result of these surgeries, and having these trifocal lenses inserted into my eyes, has made my eyesight actually worse. Dr. Longar gave me literature to read but was really unwilling to discuss possible side effects at length. But the bottom line is one of my lenses is on crooked, which has nothing to do with all of the other potential side effects. It just has to do with error in placement and sadly I’m left living with that error for the rest of my life. Something to think about before you get surgery. My friend had suggested at the time I get a second opinion with UCSF before I got the surgery. But I have been seeing Dr. Longar for so long. I felt confident. I wish I had gotten that second opinion, and learned a very important lesson about second opinions. I wish I had just gotten a cataract surgery with the clear lens and left it with that - live and learn but a costly lesson for sure!

If I can give zero star I would. Ting Ting is an awful doctor and she shouldn’t be in this field. She is rude, no bed side manner. She thinks she is GOD made her patients waited an hour with no explanations and the office manager was rude. He needs to get more training for how to run an efficient office. Please take your care somewhere else. This is not an ideal place to trust your eyes in these incompetent people.

They provided the most thorough eye exam I've ever had! You can tell they care about your eye health and want to make sure they get the prescription right.

I recently had cataracts removed from my left eye. Dr. Longar was my Ophthalmologist. I chose the PanOptix lenses. I am so amazed with how my vision has improved. Wish I had done this a long time ago. I am so elated with Dr.Longar's work! Looking forward to having my cataracts on right eye removed next week! Dr. Longar is amazing!
