The company has a lot of good products. But services at certain locations are horrible. I noticed the more people a branch office has, the poorer the service is. Too many people, no one wants to do the job, someone will have to cover.

Very reliable and professional service! Our whole family uses it! Retirement planning and long-term investing.

Schwab including TD Ameritrade has an array of good products but their services in Cupertino branches need quite improvement. There are plenty of people at the branch offices but no one can be reached in trading or non-trading hours. One time I went to the branch office for international wiring-in instructions. After at least 10 minutes, a lady came out evidently from her sweet nap and reluctantly gave me something in writing, but resulting in immediate bouncing of the fund back to the sender. I went back and asked the info again. The same lady argued that she could not make a mistake and the sending party definitely made errors. I verified the sender followed her instructions precisely and had to call the Schwab central line and obtained an entirely different instruction (through an intermediary bank in NYC). What if the money was not bounced? My God, there are some dangerous/inexperienced/lazy employees handling our assets.

Writing for my parents because they don't have a yelp account. All I have to say is Ms. Ruth Phillips was extremely knowledgeable and helpful! She was able to quickly resolve my parent's issues. I have nothing but good things to say about her and will ask her if we have any issues in the future. Thank you!

Disrespectful and unprofessional! Complete waste of my time and gasoline! I am not recommending Schwab.

The service here was fabulous. I made an appointment to get help so that I could change title to manage my parents 5 accounts because they are no longer able. Annie took care of everything- printed all the paperwork, marked what I needed to fill in/sign, went through all of my documents, found, and made copies of the ones she needed. They notarized all 5 documents. It was all done very efficiently and at no cost. I highly recommend.

Totally incompetent. I flew into town because my 81 year old mother wanted me to go into this Schwab office with her so she could transfer some of her assets to me. Though both Mom and I were present in the office, VIVIAN at the front desk ended up transferring the assets into SOMEONE ELSE'S ACCOUNT!!! Some random person! It was only because I noticed that two weeks later no assets had been transferred that I started making calls. It took us so many ridiculous phone calls and so much time and so much anxiety for my elderly mom to figure out what had happened and my poor mother had to go back by herself and redo everything. They owe us a serious apology but better yet, just STAY AWAY.

Today's presentation on the ThomasPartners Dividend Growth Strategy, by Deane Antoniou, was absolutely first-rate. This has got to be one of the best-kept "secrets" in investing. Deane is a fabulous speaker, who strikes just the right balance between being concise and informative, on the one hand, and relaxed and conversational, on the other. If only to see how a top-notch informational session is delivered -- supported by a masterful PowerPoint -- it's worth an hour of anyone's time. It was only yesterday that we learned Schwab offers regular "workshops" on personal finance and investing, to anyone who wants to attend! You don't even have to have an account with Schwab. (Psst: There were complimentary pizza and beverages for anyone attending. But please don't crash these events just for the food. We want Schwab to keep them open to the public. :-) You are expected to register online in advance for these workshops, which are listed on the branch's website. But there's no need to show ID and no sales pressure on attendees. Finally, a shout out to the very friendly young man at the front desk: Keep up the good work!

Their front desk is always pleasant and helpful, in case if you need some basic forms and assistance. What is horrible is their advisors. They send out these useless updates which neither educate or are informative for the clients. A friend of mine asked for a calendar at year end and the "advisor" said my friend does not make enough trades to get a complementary calendar. Granted this is a discount brokerage firm but I think they have forgotten business (and therefore these advisors' paychecks) do not grow on trees; they come from their customers!

Moving assets around when it deals with securities is a pain in the a*** Especially if it's to another institution. Sometimes it's just easier to create a new account. So i made an appointment, got my paper work processed and then notarized. Boom. Done. This went surprisingly faster and easier than i thought. The onsite notary made the document process so much easier. Pleasantly surprised is better than expected disappointment right? Looking forward to using my new accounts..

I made an account this morning, got a call from an investing adviser, and made a deposit at this local branch... all in a day's work. Great service so far... we'll see if Charles Schwab continues to impress. Oh yeah--checking account + atm card with no atm withdraw fees regardless of where you are... hell yes.
