Plenty of free parking space. The train ride is free on the dates that I posted in this review. The line is fast. It took us around 5 minutes to wait. There were multiple trains available. The train ride lasted for about 15 minutes navigating two train tracks and enjoying the beautiful scenery on a California sunny day. No seatbelts but the train is slow and very safe. I also observed wildflowers within the vicinity, so it's an extra. Overall, you can be in and out of the place in less than one hour. I highly recommended this family activity for all ages. I will definitely come back here again.

This place is great for families with small children or anyone who enjoys trains. There is a height requirement for very small children.. It has been here and operating for over 30 years. One weekend a month they give free train rides. Donations are requested. You can see all kinds of wildlife from the train. It is mostly volunteer run and all the volunteers are kind, helpful and knowledgeable. They even book private parties and have special events throughout the year. The restrooms are clean and even have food vendors. I enjoy bringing a picnic lunch and watching the trains pass as we eat.

I took my family here on their free day and it was great! I was a bit hesitant because I'm not a huge fan of big crowds, but the day I went wasn't so bad. I only had to wait in line for about an hour. People were friendly; not pushy or loud. There were food vendors that followed the path where the line was forming so it was great to stay in line and order food while we waited to ride the model trains. The weather was nice and the kids enjoyed everything about it.

Riding the mini trains was such a special experience for me. Our engineer was my friend's stepdad. The club offers rides to the public the 3rd weekend of every month. Great fun for kids (and inner kids).

The reason this place is crowded is because (a) it's only open one weekend a month, and (b) it's free. One reviewer wrote there are 3 - 5 trains that run, which gives the impression that these are different trains on different tracks of varying speeds and capacity. While there are 3 trains that run, they are all on the same track, and they are all the same model. My son had fun, and there is a gift shop with various train-themed items. The entire operation runs on donations, and there is a recommended donation of $2 per family.

My 2 year old son loved it. Train goes about 5mph and for about 15 min. Get there early to avoid the lines.
