I’m writing this because somebody said the “old man will try to rip you off”. That is not true at all. Coast Philatelics is one of the few old-school stamp collector stores. It’s a family-run shop, and they’ve have been in business since the late 70s, I think. He sells everything cheap because the stamp collecting world has gone downhill. There just aren’t as many stamp collectors as there used to be. I love this place, it’s a little hole in the wall that’s floor to ceiling with stamps, accessories, unique pieces, and collectible paper. There used to be a lot of places like this back in the 80s, but this is one of the last. It’s worth your time to go in. (The shop is open limited hours, as the owner takes care of his health concerns.)

Went with a friend who recently was handed down a family stamp collection. Called this shop, and they said they buy stamps and to come by. The older gentleman at the counter who seemed to be the owner was incredibly rude and stated he didn't have time to look through any of the stamps or offer any kind of information, etc. This was after being told over the phone 30 minutes prior to come down, and he would take a look. There was only one other person in the shop apparently a regular customer who was also so taken back by owners attitude that they followed my friend out of the store and approached him to give him some great advice as to best way to go about researching specific stamps values and history.I would recommend shopping elsewhere and definitely don't waste time seeking information.

Crabby owner. I dropped by this store after 3 years, said hello and asked how the wife was doing. The response by the owner was that I should leave his store. Awful experience.

A great place. Bob is very knowledgeable. I have been fortunate having his help finding material I have been looking for. Lots of covers unique items. One of the last few traditional philitelic places where you can discover special items. Call before you go. They do go to shows every so often. Bob Hawkins 08-12-2022

Haven't been here in a couple of years. But such a great place. Got back into stamp collecting after moving here 14 years ago. Just as good as when I shopped in NY. He has plenty of supplies, knowledge and Stamps. You can not go wrong. Even with the Pandemic he is open, limit to how many at a time, mask a must. Stay safe. I recommend this store, giving it a 10 out of 10.

You won't find another stamp store like this. Bob knows more about stamps than you could imagine, he's been doing it all his life (and he's no spring chicken) and he loves what he does. Impeccably honest, lots of stock, you'll really miss these guys when they are gone.
