I am moving and needed to rent a budget truck. I am a bit of a planner so I reserved the truck a few weeks out. I called ahead of time of as well asking if they needed any additional documents from me as moving days can be long and stressful. When I arrived and told I was here to pick up my truck, I was alerted that they didn't have the truck I reserved available only a bigger version. They gave me a "free" upgrade however the bigger truck is harder to drive and worse on gas mileage. It did not feel like an upgrade. I was also hassled and told I needed to pay an additional $300 insurance fee or buy my own truck insurance. I was quite distressed about this surprise additional cost. The cashier told me several times that I should "just go to u-haul instead." Next time, I think I will. Overall, a very bad experience and I would not recommend renting a truck from them.

Beware of this place. They ripped me off and don't answer the phone. Also they report cars stolen that are not. Putting you in grave danger. Its all over the news. This Costa Mesa office is a criminal enterprise. Go anywhere else for your safety and to protect yourself from fraudulent charges.

Called to see what time they closed and the lady on the phone said as long as I get there before 1 I should be good. I showed up before they closed and they said they were already closed and could not help me. Talked to the person working there and they were not willing to help.

I signed up for Avis Preferred and they gave a filthy car. The guy said he would provide a voucher for a car wash but that I would have to do the cleaning. Asked that I sign a dash cam waiver even when there was no dash cam in the car. So far this is the bottom of the barrel in customer service that I have received. I accidentally took the key home with me and when I went back to the rental office they both refused to take the key and told me to call roadside assistance. Roadside assistance told me to go to the rental office. Only by calling Avis corporate did I get help. This location is HORRIBLE!

Very bad experience. I did my reservation the day before and scheduled it for 9am and I get here early and the car is not here. The girl in front said "you did the reservation today so that's why we don't have anything until later". I let her know that I did it the night before and if they couldn't get a car then why did the system let me reserve it. She kept arguing that because I did it after hours. This was not the first place I checked for availability. I did my research and all the other places would not allow me to make a reservation because they could not make the time or type of car. Why not this place? Very bad service and very bad experience.

Have been a renting a vehicle thru Uber for about a year and the experience has been terrible to say the least. The woman I believe is the manager is incorrigible, inconsiderate and a con artist. She withheld information on high deductibles, and other imperative information. She is rude non-Communicative and flat out doesn’t want to be bothered whenever I have to come in the office. She has threatened to cancel my contract for asking the simplest of questions. Started off paying $150 a week and within 7 months it went up $327 dollars a week with no email or phone call warning! Every month it seems there were unwarranted charges, the origins of which could never be explained or disseminated even in the most la-mens of translation. My car was struck, the entire time I was without a vehicle I was charged as if I we’re still driving and I had to wait a month or more for another vehicle! I would truly dread having to go in personally or talk to her on the phone and I absolutely would not have recommended using Avis services because of her. Definitely a waste of time and an even bigger waste of money, choosing Avis to Rent a vehicle thru Uber or without.

Booked through Costco the night before. Arrived at 830 AM to pick up the car. Staffs were very friendly and gave me a free upgrade. The car was brand new and has plenty safety features and most importantly it has Apple CarPlay. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Do not rent from this location We had lost our key and they haven't resolved the matter in 3 days. Chris that works here said they have never dealt with a lost key situation and their roadside assistance that is to resolve the matter doesn't have the key code. There only solution is to tow the truck with our valuables inside but haven't showed up for 3 days.We have the truck loaded we ebikes because we had an sales event we were attending and the ebikes will be damaged if the truck is towed . They said if we break into the truck they will call the police.Worst customer service ever. Don't risk your valuables with budget Costa Mesa.

Definitely one of the most unprofessional employees.. I went in today within the last hour and I had told the lady that was helping me out not to run my card until I had funds and she didn't not care and did it anyway now that being said i have to wait another 24 hrs to be charged . So technically wasted my entire time I am coming from palmdale, ca so before you head down to waste your time make sure you are working with someone who cares about the clientes instead of trying to send you out right away. Very disappointed in what I have experienced I don't know the lady's name but she was American lady.

So I made a reservation here thought the web. Everything looked fine, I got my confirmation number. But 2 days before the date they called me, they canceled my reservation, they said because they don't have cars... if that's true (I doubt it) what kind of company allows you to make a reservation and then allows this to happen???And it's not the first time I'm having issues with Avis.Very disappointing.

WHAT A TERRIBLE SERVICE !!If you want to just waste your time, here is the perfect place to go to. I made a reservation about 2 weeks ago to rent a vehicle, so I can start working for Uber. They called me a day before my reservation, and told me, that they had to "cancel" it because there is no car available and literally ruined my plan. I asked them to see when they’d have any car available to rent, so I can start working, but I got no answer. Then after following up with them for several times within a week, I finally found another car and made another reservation again.Today I went there to do the paper work and pickup my car. And Now they say there is a problem with my credit card and they can't do a soft credit check on my account. Then they asked for debit. I gave them the debit card and they said it's not working either!!!Now after wasting almost two weeks of my time, I got a Hybrid Toyota Prius from HyreCar and it only took half an hour without any weird process.* Although I have to mention, Chris attitude was very professional and friendly at the same time *
