Impossible to work with. Gave them our life history, copies of driver's licenses, etc. Same they said they could not confirm our identity and therefore we could not make a deposit to a savings account. When we questioned what the issue was they simply said the decision could not be overriden

I decided NEVER again to use PB. Here are some of the major reasons: 1) lack of support at the Santa Rosa corp. level related to not being able to print checks that I needed copies of for tax purposes, and they never followed up; 2) at the branch level - service also has been poor - a) the Branch manager gave me incorrect info about minimum balance to avoid monthly charges for my checking account; I had to correct him and he then agreed that there were NO monthly charges; b) I have been given incorrect info regarding FDIC coverage by staff at the branch; c) none of the 3 staff at the Corte Madera branch knew how to wire money and they had to call Santa Rosa; this took 40 minutes; d) based on repeated interactions, in my professional opinion Barbara at the Corte Madera branch provides poor customer service. She communicates in a rude manner and appears to need basic training in customer interactions. Finally, the Corte Madera branch has new branch manages and staff frequently. Finally I get MUCH BETTER rates with Ally Bank or Synchrony Bank. AND, their service is 5 Star. For Real. Hope this review helps.

I opened my original CD account in around 2017 in this branch and have been a customer in good standing ever since. I did not have any issues or problems with this branch until today. The man with whom I spoke today was very surly, arrogant disrespectful of me as a senior citizen with an account in good standing as well as inept incompetent and unprofessional. I explained to him that I'm in Mexico so I need to have an ATM card sent to me to which he replied that I had to have a wet signature rather than an electronic one. Of course I looked this information up and learned that electronic signatures have been legally accepted in all 50 states since 2000. I then asked him if I could do a wire transfer of my CD account to another bank to which he responded "No we don't do that here". He also said that I had an option of buying a prepaid card at a grocery store to be able to use? Is he serious? I then asked him if he understood that I was in the country of Mexico and not the state of New Mexico to which he replied but he did but you cannot obtain any kind of bank account in Mexico without at least a temporary if not a permanent residency which I'm working on getting but at the moment I don't have. He then said something which a professional should never say to a client which is that he didn't know of anyone else like me who had not planned for their life being in a different country so I was absolutely appalled and speechless. Totally contradictory to the woman I spoke with yesterday at the same Branch who told me that she worked with people in other countries like China so Mexico is no different than any other country. It's just another country other than the US. Bottom line is if you're looking for a bank to open up an account in I would not recommend this one. They do have several positions open at the moment so perhaps in the future things will change but right now this branch is not operating with integrity ethics morals principles and what is legally allowed in banking.

While Poppy Bank gives great rates on our savings account, their customer service leaves something to be desired. We need to change the ownership on our account. Their employees and manager say that we need to come in to get a form, take it to be notarized and then return it to them, all in person. We are not willing to come in due to COVID-19 concerns, as we are in a high risk group. Their employees say we are required to come in so that they can verify that we are who we say we are. This makes no sense. We come in and show you IDs to prove who we are, then we take the form to a notary and show them IDs to prove who we are, then we return the signed form to you in person. However, the purpose of having a signature notarized is to prove the signature is valid. Why do we have to risk exposure to the virus 3 times instead of once, just to get a form to them? Other financial institutions do not require this and there is no law or regulation that I am aware of that requires this. They claim on their web page that they take the health and safety of their customer seriously during this pandemic, but their response to our concerns shows otherwise.

I found Poppy Bank when I was looking for better interest rate on savings account. They offered great introductory rates a few years back...I think 1.5%... I also love Redwood Credit Union as I believe in keeping my money local for local investments. Right now their CD rate is 2.50%...hard to beat I think. Carlos Davalos helped me with the CD transaction and is so helpful and friendly and professional. It is a pleasure to do business with them. All the staff has always been incredibly friendly and helpful. I have done difficult international transaction with their help with no problems. I call and they know me immediately..RARE ! ... even RCU asks 5 different questions...after 20 years... so don't go to the big bank, you are missing out on personal attention and great interest rates !

After more than 30 years with Bank of America, I finally saw the light and moved on. But where? I researched all the Big Banks, Wells Fargo, Chase, etc. I had to go no further than my local Poppy Bank. Their smiling faces, friendly and personal attention and above all, their ratings and competitive interest offers made my decision very easy. For the first time, I feel treasured, secure and have my bank looking after MY best interest. I could not recommend them more highly. Carlos and his team make every step easy and engaging.

Tired of dealing with big name banks I decided to try a new bank where they will appreciate you and see you as a person and not as a number. Came across this bank while shopping at Safeway. What a convenience, shop and bank all at once. Met Luis, who was very friendly, helpful and very cheerful. I was able to open my account with Carlos who also made me feel very comfortable. I will give the bank its chance but service was awesome!!!!

This is a wonderful bank. So convenient, right in Safeway at the Town Center in Corte Madera. It's small, and reminds me of what banks must have been like many years ago. Everyone knows your name, and you know theirs. They are always ready to help. Their interest rates are very competitive. It is the kind of business that one would want to support if they want to be more than an account number.
