I signed the contract which stated estimate one price and "NOT TO EXCEED" price that was higher then base estimate. Most people will understand that "Not to Exceed" means that will be maximum amount one has to pay. Company believes otherwise. I have no complain about movers or the moving itself. But I do feel cheated when in addition to "Not to Exceed" , I was billed additional amount and charged to my visa card, which was 25% of the original estimate. I contacted visa company and they tried to reverse the charges but the Company refused. My beef is why do the company state "Not to Exceed" and then bill you additional amount. I have requested several times for explanation but it was all in vain. For this reason, I will never use this company again. Here is my suggestion - (A) Make sure you get in writing that "Not To Exceed" means that is the maximum amount you have to pay.(B) Pay by cheques at the end of satisfactory move.(C) Find some other movers you feel comfortable to deal with.I am hoping that the company will provide explanation as to what is meant by "Not to Exceed". (This part of the contract is at the bottom of the page and in a box. ) I am still waiting for explanation but have very low expectation of any response.

Frauds. We signed a DO NOT EXCEED quote for our two day move, the first day was packing, second day move. After the first day they wanted us to sign a change order for $300+ more, we said no and finally they agreed that was a mistake on their part and would honor the DNE price. On the second day we signed the final document at the original price. They then forged the document to write in the additional $300+ and charged our credit card. You can see the different color ink on the price and they changed the date of my signature. Our mistake, in all the commotion we didn't realize our copy of the receipt was not left on the table.

Eddie and his crew moved my company today, we moved offices and it was a massive move! They just left, and I decided to come on Yelp and write them a review, and I am a bit confused by all of the bad reviews! :( The workers worked fast, and were always smiling and really helpful when I couldn't lift heavy objects out of my car/throughout the office! I highly recommend using Bekin, and I will be calling Eddie for my personal move in August!

We moved a 4-adult household from one Livermore location to another Livermore location. 4 bedroom, 3 bath, washer/dryer/fridge, two sheds garage etc. The estimator was accurate and talked to us about easy things we could do beforehand to save time and money. It took two truck loads to move us. They started at about 10am and were finished by about 4pm. These movers were on time, extremely polite and respectful. They had good systems in place and protected our furniture and boxes well. We are very pleased.

We used Bekins for a big move from California to Idaho. Big mistake that was... the driver and crew showed up a day early and begged us to load that day. Against our better judgement but with their promise of help w the packing, we agreed. We told them not to load any open boxes those were for donation, but since we were busy packing ourselves and could not supervise they closed up those boxes and loaded them up. On top of all those extra boxes and extra weight they loaded trash cans full of trash, planters full of soil and a bunch of things marked for trash... On top of all that they calculated wrong a previous load so they ran out of room on the truck meaning we had to go through another moving day the next day. Our first shipment came on time. Really no issues there. But that second truck came way past the window they gave us. On top of all that - since they loaded up a whole lot of extra things we had to pay a whole lot extra $$$- for things that we now have donated or things we basically just threw out. The crews were ok... they did lose some screws of furniture and did not know how to put our bed back together, but after they left I had to pick up a lot of trash that they threw in my yard.. cigarette buds, soda cans, water bottles and more. We tried talking w the company about all these issues but there was complete disregard. This company does not care about their clients. If things go well great you're lucky, but if there's a problem they just don't care and theirs no one to talk to. Yes, moving is stressful and not fun but to have to go through this extra stress because of their incompetence was just too much. I would think twice, three times or more before hiring a company that just doesn't care to this extent.

We hired Bekins for a local move within Livermore. This was our first time using professional movers and I am really happy with the service!Setting up the move was easy. Everyone we worked with was great. We also had the challenge of a fluid timeline but we were able to move up our move date with no problem. The crew we worked with on move day were fantastic! They were on time and set up protection on the walls and floors to protect the house. They handled all of our items with care. We probably could have been better prepped for our move (timeline was moved up) so we worked around the move crew with no problem. They were respectful and helpful. What really made it a 5 start experience was our move crew was not only super helpful and careful but they were really pleasant to work with. That's the thing you don't really think about but is really important when you spend all day with them on what is a very stressful day. Overall, moving is not fun but I am really happy we hired Bekins!

My wife and I moved from Los Angeles to North Carolina. The guy we dealt with at first, David Hulbert, was nice and helpful. He's why they get one star. The problem came when the furniture arrived and a bunch of it was very badly damaged due to things being packed on top of it. We had selected their "insurance" which I put in quotes because the fine print says it's NOT actually insurance as defined by the government so you can't file complaints with the insurance commissioner. We filed a claim with their in house insurance and it was refused. The insurance lady, Laura Pung, was terrible to deal with. She's all about trying to trick you into things, like saying you're satisfied with something before you have a chance to look at it. IMPORTANT: What I realized they do is, when the furniture is being picked up, they note any tiny scratch or ding, so every piece has a bunch of notations, and they say the damage was pre-existing. But there were enough discrepancies (i.e. a gouge wouldn't have been noted as a scratch) that I contacted the local Dept of Justice's consumer affairs division and they spoke to Bekins who finally made a low offer for the furniture after having a local "expert" furniture restorer (who does a lot of business for moving companies) check out the damage. With the exception of one piece, we couldn't get anything remotely like what we'd lost for what they were offering. We asked if their furniture guy could repair the pieces for what he quoted and they said yes. He did okay on a couple of the pieces, but the most important one was a mess and they wouldn't do anything else. Some tips, aside from never using Bekins: * See if you can get insurance that is not through the moving company. * Take pictures of EVERYTHING before they take it. Lots of pictures. * On delivery day, it's impossible to look over every piece before the movers leave, and the people driving the trucks are usually contractors who can't afford to stick around while you look at everything. Pick out some important pieces and look them over well. Have as many friends/family with you to help when the stuff arrives. And don't use Bekins.

I want to give a shout-out to Bekins who I've used 3 times now to move, but especially to the person who was the facilitator that arranged it all, Robert Borson, out of the Santa Fe Springs office. He was assigned to me on my move previous to this, and I specifically requested him this time around and his help has been invaluable and consistent and made the inherently incredibly stressful experience of moving so much less so. He's someone who returns calls or emails promptly, who solves problems as they come up, and who has a generally positive, upbeat and sunny approach that puts one at ease. Cannot recommend him highly enough. I hope to stay put for awhile now, but if I move again I will use Bekins as long as I can get Robert to be my contact person. I don't want to pile on his workload, but he is someone who seems to really enjoy what he does. You should request him as well.

Understand that the "insurance" that you pay to cover your stuff is garbage. The fine print specifies they'll pay 60 cents per pound the item weighs or the cost to replace WHICHEVER IS LESS. So when they damaged by 4k monitor, they paid TWELVE DOLLARS in reparations on an $800 monitor. So really, unless they literally damage everything you ship, the "insurance" is how they make a ton of money off of you. There's literally no way to repair or replace my monitor with $12 and even if I try selling it on ebay or amazon, it's not near enough to replace it with something comparable. I guess if you ship gigantic blocks of lead and report them damaged, you can make up some of the cost for what will inevitably break. That being said, the driver, movers, and logistics staff are top notch. They're knowledgeable and experienced. The logistics staff took a look at my stuff and estimated the necessary space perfectly. The movers had the entire house packed up in less than a day. The driver was awesome and flexible, helping us handle anything that came up because we were moving across states. I can't fault any of them. Just watch out for the loopholes they put in to grab your money and not actually use it to cover damages.

DO NOT hire this company to help you move! We used Bekins to move from Long Beach, CA to Michigan. At first things seemed to go ok despite the packers refusing to wear masks (this was in the height of Covid last September). Little did I know, only some of our items were being loaded on to the moving truck. When the truck arrived in Michigan there were several items missing. When I say several, I mean over $3,000 worth of mens clothing and a large container of loose change I would conservatively estimate to be $300. I would've never guessed someone would steal pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters but sure enough...... it disappeared. I immediately reached out to Bekins to express my frustration and unhappiness and they agreed to do a "trace". Of course they did not find anything because my belongings never made it onto the moving truck! Now we have filed a claim and they have denied it because it was 1 day late. Someone working for Bekins stole my belongings and now Bekins will not do anything about it. Like I said, DO NOT use this company..... their employees can't be trusted and neither can anyone in management.

Do NOT use Bekins movers. My family moved from Seattle to Irvine this Spring. We stored our furniture in their warehouse for nearly 4 months while we looked for a house here. When they unloaded at our new house they had their appliance hook up guy reconnected the washer and dryer. When we turned on our dryer it made a grinding sound that it had never done before. We also found other items damaged, in particular one or a kind glass and metal artwork as well as two carved buddha statues. Luckily the metal and glass works the artist said they would repair for free. Not as lucky with the buddha statues. Towards the end of the move in we realized there were many things still missing. Turns out they missed loading an entire container of our stuff on the truck. They said it would take maybe a month to get it to us. It was all full of stuff we needed to put beds and desks together. For the artwork and the dryer, we were assured we could file a claim for any of the damages. When filed the claim it all came back as denied. They denied the dryer damages but used a complicated word-salad excuse that I still cannot make sense of. As for the artwork, they claimed that because they didn't pack it, they wouldn't cover it. Problem is, NOBODY said that to me when they were packing and loading our other stuff. Don't trust Bekins. You'd think that by going with a big name national mover that you'd avoid the scammy movers you hear about. Well it's not true. They sell a good game and during the move on the phone they sound like they are trying to take care of you. But rest assured, when things go wrong. They are same scammy movers you would expect. They got your money already by the time you file you claim so what do they care. Save yourself the money and hassle and choose another like Allied or Mayfair.

I used Bekins to do both my packing and subsequent move from Livermore to Temecula. Alex was great to work with and laid out the process of how everything would unfold. The packers, driver and loaders/unloaders all did a fantastic job on both ends of the move. They showed up on time and handled all my items with great care. I was completely satisfied with the job Bekins did for me!

We moved from the SF Bay Area to the Phila area. We worked with Bekins/Wheaton and everything was very smooth. All COVID precautions were taken. All personnel were friendly and professional. What more could you want? We were satisfied with every step of the process, which, regardless, can be stressful. Bekins was the key to a successful move! Thanks to Alex, Jenny, Fran and everyone involved.

Worst move ever... and as a Veteran who has lived overseas and heard nightmare moving stories, that is really saying something. This company was subcontracted from Bekins... I guess? I paid $18k for a move with a professional company and all I know is the most unprofessional group of people showed up at my house with a van, "Willis Permian Movers" by Bekins? No idea, nor was it ever told to us that they would subcontract NON_PROFESSIONAL movers. These men did not know one another, had almost zero tools, and were beyond careless. Within 2 minutes, our chandelier was shattered as they brought our couch in the home. Our hardwood flooring is damaged with 9 hours worth of repair work according to our estimator. Can you imagine? Do not ever go with this company. You will regret it... we have put in a claim of over $10,000.00 and can hardly get a call back. We are at 3 weeks now and have received $340 back. It's likely we will have to hire an attorney.Bekins - Are you really going to just ignore this situation or will you own up to your damages and unexecuted contract? Moving is stressful enough - stay far away from these people
