I contacted this company because my fiancé and I want to refinish our hardwood floors but it can be pricy especially for people on a budget like us so we thought we would DIY 1 room ourself to see if we could do it to save some money. I wanted some advice besides YouTube videos I've watched so I called top knot flooring and I believe I spoke to mike the owner and asked if he would give us some advice on how to do our floors. I was surprised with the amount of knowledge he gave us because I was sure he would just want us to hire him instead to make some money but it was the total opposite. He was extremely knowledgeable and walked me step by step on what to do with our floors. Yes we did it and it was manageable but If you have the money and can pay for someone to do it, hire this company! I can tell they do great work and the communication is awesome. We used Top Knot flooring in August of 2019 to refinish a back bedroom, Kitchen & living/dining rooms. We were ok with the results. This past July, we had a water leak in our Kitchen & needed to have a few of the boards replaced due to buckling. Placed a call to the Walnut Creek show room leaving my name, number & a brief description of our problem. The voice mail said that our call would be returned in 24 hours. Called for the next three weeks, stopped by the Walnut Creek showroom (closed) & finally called the Concord showroom. Spoke the the Owner (Mike) he told me to go onto the website & complete the quote form, after that, he would come over and take a look at the damage. Also, when filling out the form, I indicated we were interested in new carpet for two of our bedrooms. Received no follow up, the call& the quote we’re done on August 18,2022. This morning I decided to give it another try. Called the Concord number, spoke with Mike. Could tell from his phone manner I wasn’t getting anywhere and turned it over to my husband. He told my husband that it was a waste of this time to drive over to look at a job for less then $3,900.Mike was rude, not in anyway professional and a complete waste of time. My wife and I were looking to replace our new house's floors with engineered hardwood floors, and Top Knot was one of the top contenders. While we ultimately went with another contractor, we were very impressed with Mike's professionalism, knowledge, and passion for his job. We greatly appreciate the help he gave us through the process. I hope we can work with Mike on another project as he's also branching out into other aspects of home remodeling. With his dedication to his job I have no doubt that he'd be successful in that endeavor as well!

Be ware. If you buy from this company DO NOT use his recommended contractor. It's his brother and they do not have an contractor's license. They are using another business' license illegally.

Mike and his crew removed carpeting and old hardwood and installed 3/4 x 4 1/4 birch hardwood in living room/family room, closets, dining/kitchen, and hallway/entry, to match previously installed hardwood in bedrooms. Installing natural hardwood is an art form, as each piece must be selected for length and color/grain pattern. Darker pieces must be spaced appropriately with lighter pieces and those with unique grain patterns and/or knots.The finished look, when done by true professionals, is just beautiful; much, much better than laminates. The whole house has a brighter, cleaner look now vs. carpeting and darker 2" hardwood. Worth every penny.They also removed and replaced furniture and installed new baseboard. The work was done on time, at a reasonable price (less than I expected), with a minimum of interference to our daily lives (3 days).

The quality of the work is outstanding. We couldn't be happier with our floors. The workers were prompt and efficient and there was minimal disruption to our schedules and lifestyle (meaning we didn't live in disarray long) as the work was being completed.

From the first phone call I was grateful to be working with Mike. He took time to explain the various options to me, and help me understand the pros and cons of the products, without any pressure. Once I made my decision, Mike laid out the process and schedule, and he lived up to every commitment. His installers were kind, respectful, and tidy in their work. I couldn't be happier with the experience, or with my new engineered wood floor!
