Where do I start. I can't thank sunshine house enough for how my daughter Gracie has been growing and preparing for starting school next year. Gracie started at sunshine house last year and has improved in every way. The staff at sunshine house through their positive attitudes and engagement with Gracie have shown her structural learning and play but, in the same breathe also shown her that she has the freedom and ability to try/ do new and challenging things. Miss Crystal and her staff have been amazing to say the least. Gracie has turned into a social butterfly and has been demonstrating everything she is learning at home with me and her little sister Glory. My interactions with all the teachers at sunshine house has been nothing but positive as well. They have been welcoming during every drop off and pick up, especially with Ms. Elisha in the mornings. Ms. Elisha is her favorite teacher. Gracie has enjoyed the bond that her and Ms. Elisha have formed. When I have a question Ms. Crystal has been prompt in response to any and all questions that come up. The staff at sunshine house has been very supportive and I'm grateful for them. Miss Crystal and all the teachers are really committed to providing a safe, fun and nurturing learning environment to allow Gracie to grow and flourish. I am very happy to be apart of the sunshine house family.

My daughters have been attending sunshine house for 2 years and we love it here ! we have never had any problems with the teachers or administration. The staff always communicates information to me as quickly as possible right in the moment and I am so grateful to have found sunshine house preschool for my children! My daughters have excelled in their school skills ( writing, drawing, alphabet, recognizing numbers and letters, etc) and they love all of their friends at school.Mrs. Crystal is amazing at her job and she has always supported my family through difficult drop offs, learning difficulties, and potty training with my children. All of the teachers at sunshine house are very welcoming and loving to the children. I recommend this school to everyone I know because it is nothing but the best! I'm so happy my children attend sunshine house

Sunshine House was like a second home for my son Theo! He started going there when Theo was two and a half and stayed for over a year until we had to move to LA. We genuinely loved this place and still miss Theo's teachers. The teachers were super friendly and loving. Theo formed a special bond with all his teachers; he couldn't stop talking about them at home. It was heartwarming to know that he felt so loved and cared for.The classrooms were always clean, and I appreciated the fact that the activities were less structured, letting the kids be kids. It created a relaxed and happy environment.During the challenging potty training phase, the teachers continued to be supportive and helped us navigate through it. They went above and beyond to support us parents too, especially during a rough patch my family faced last year. Leaving Sunshine House was bittersweet for us, but we'll always be grateful for the wonderful experience and the amazing teachers who made it feel like a family. If you're in the area, definitely check it out for your little ones!Thank you very much, Ms. Crystal, Ms. Maria, Ms. Ashely, Ms. Princessa, Ms. Mardi, Ms. Monica, Ms. Elena, Ms. Maira, Ms. Elisha, Ms. Carina, and all the teachers at Sunshine House. Sunshine House, you'll always have a special place in our hearts!

We've been at Sunshine House Concord for almost a year and a half now. My son was only ever watched by family before we started attending. It was a tricky transition at first but the amazing staff helped all of us feel comfortable. Ms. Crystal is an absolute ANGEL! Her whole staff is incredible! They supported my son through his tearful drop offs, encouraged him to be engaged, earned his trust, got him to open up, and was pivotal in his potty training success. Ms. Crystal always has great insight and advice when it comes to navigating life with a 3 1/2 year old! Ms. Elisha, Ms. Maria, Ms. Hayley, and all the teachers are so incredible making us feel welcome every morning! We are so appreciative of the Sunshine House Concord community.

We found sunshine house through a family member. We were impressed with the first visit and how neat, orderly and clean the space was. Getting to know Ms. Crystal and the staff, in the past 6 months have been a positive experience. Our son enjoys the teachers and since being there has definitely improved his articulation, word, number and color recognition. The teachers have a great and calming presence. I would recommend this location to others. Thanks Sunshine House!

Our daughter has been attending Sunshine House in concord for a year and she loves school! As a parent who works in special education I was very nervous about sending her to preschool at 2, but to see her grow and develop socially, emotionally and learn the pre-academic skills has been amazing. There was a transition period where there were tears at drop off but all the teachers created a safe and caring environment for her and always greeted us with positivity and kindness. The staff would send pictures of her playing or doing activities to reassure us she was settled and adjusted. The teachers also took time out of their day to write us personalized notes about how she was doing and strengths she was displaying. Our family loves the themed weeks and days as well as the shared curriculum so we can preview her on the day and talk about what she learned at school. Our daughter loves the play based curriculum that includes art, circle time and hands on learning. when our family welcomed baby #2 , the staff were supportive of giving our daughter an extended summer break to bring less germs in the house and to spend time with visiting family. When she returned all the staff welcomed her back and even kept her cubby the same as if she never left. I have no doubt that my daughter will be ready to transition to pre-k!

Our child has been going to Sunshine House in Concord for the last year and a half. I must say we are more than happy we chose Sunshine House as our child care provider. From the moment I toured the school I knew I had found the right place. The teachers are amazing in so many ways, they are supportive, thoughtful, caring, communicative, and really take the time to listen to parents questions, or concerns. Most importantly the care and education given to the children here is exceptional. My daughter is thriving and looks forward to going to school everyday and seeing her teachers and friends. Not only has she built great relationships with her teachers , she is also developing amazing friendships with the other children at Sunshine House. Thank you all for genuinely caring for our kiddos. I would definitely recommend Sunshine House !

Ok it's been about a month so here is my update. The first couple times dropping our daughter off at Sunshine House she had some tears being away from mommy and daddy all day especially at drop off and pick up. Not the case after the third day! She walks right in the door and runs off to play. She absolutely loves all the teachers and gives them hugs. It makes me so happy she enjoys being around other kids as well as being comfortable around the teachers. I've noticed her more confident especially in her motor skills. I really like how after the first couple of weeks we got a call from Ms. Crystal evaluating her progress. During that call I heard so much positivity and encouragement. Even after pickup we get a little review of how she did during the day and I love how in her cubby we get notes from her day and if she worked on any activities. Our whole family loves Sunshine House Concord and how loving and caring they are with our daughter. We love Sunshine House!

Vanessa and Crystal "manage" this school, and were reported to Oakland licensing for NEGLECT, RETALIATION AND DISCRIMINATION in January 2023. Neglect: Failed to properly clothe my (then) 3 year old during a freezing November 2022 afternoon. She was outside with only a tank top on, while every other child and teacher had coats zipped to their chins. My daughter was sent to school with a tank, hoodie and puff coat (3 layers), and they removed her hoodie (which she could not remove by herself). When I arrived to pick her up in the afternoon, 2 teachers admitted she arrived in the layers, but since breakfast time she had been in only a tank top. That means, my daughter was improperly dressed for the entire day, and "management" allowed it to happen. The very next day, my daughter had a runny nose and cold symptoms that she did not have prior to the neglect. I was called mid-morning to come pick up my daughter, which I refused. I told them they are responsible for her being sick, and they need to take care of her. I wasn't going to take off from work due to their irresponsible actions. They harassed me all day at work--calling and texting. Retaliation/Discrimination: After licensing did the investigation, Vanessa and Crystal called me into a phone meeting and said my daughter had 30 days to vacate the school. Per licensing, my daughter had no documented incidents in her file, nor had I been contacted about any incidents that would require removal. Vanessa and Crystal wanted my daughter removed SOLELY because they were reported. Due to their retaliation, I reported them to Oakland Licensing again! The investigator (again) found no evidence in my daughter's file that would justify removal. After the first report to licensing, I started receiving calls and texts multiple times per week stating my daughter had bitten someone (yet no incident report was ever provided or filed), my daughter wasn't engaging with other kids (which is not a requirement), she wouldn't nap (which is not a requirement), and several other excuses they came up with to get me to pick my daughter up mid-day (while I'm at work). They even text me one day to say she had a fever of 103. When I told them she was fine when I dropped her off, and requested they retake her temperature, it was back down to normal. Again, another retaliation tactic to get my daughter out and no incident report filed or provided. At the end of January, they said they would extend my daughter's last day until February 10th (as if they are doing me a favor). I removed her to put her into a school that actually cares about my family and doesn't harass me multiple times a week for frivolous things. I recommend you call Oakland licensing and ask for details of this and all other reported incidents--You can get a better idea of who will be "responsible" for your child, because it's not Sunshine House. Vanessa and Crystal are irresponsible, lack empathy, and do not engage well with children. They pushed my child out because they were mad I held them accountable, and my toddler is the one who suffered; She no longer gets to engage with her close friends, nor the quality teachers who actually cared for her. There are many, many other details to this story, which I'm happy to share if you would like additional info. I am going to post Vanessa and Crystal's pictures so you know who will neglect your kids if they go to Sunshine House in Concord.

We love Sunshine house so much! The staff are wonderful, so caring and in tune with the kids needs and I'm always so impressed with their personal approach. My daughter has learned so much since starting 6 months ago and enjoys the range of activities offered. The facilities are lovely and we are kept up to date with the monthly schedule. I would enthusiastically recommended Sunshine House to anyone looking!

Disappointed. My daughter was in a small daycare that she LOVED, she unfortunately lost her spot after we traveled for over a month. We applied for Sunshine house school and started there. The first week, my daughter had a huge scratch on her face, I found an " awe note " in her cubby which explained the situation. I didn't give it much attention. On the third week I received a call stating that my daughter is getting physical with the other kids, on the same day Of the call I saw a little boy pushing my daughter aggressively while my daughter stood there and did nothing. I mentioned that to the ms. Vanessa that my daughter learned that behavior at their school because we NEVER had a complaint about her being physical before with other kids, not in her previous school which she stayed in for a whole year. I even gave her the name of my daughter old school and the name of the director so she can call her herself. We left sunshine house school in Concord, and after a month or so I RECEIVED a call from sunshine house in Martinez. They said they have a spot for my daughter. I went there spoke to ms Ana and took the enrollment paperwork so we can get started mid July. I told mr. Ana the whole problem we faced with Sunshine house in concord. I was very honest from the beginning simply because i didnt want to go through this again. She seemed very understanding. Just now I received a call form mr Ana saying that ms Vanessa got in contact with her and asked her NOT to take my daughter in because of her behavior ( which she learned from HER school in the first place) At preschool, children build a strong foundation in social, pre-academic, and general life skills that will give them a leg up in school and beyond. Sunshine House is NOT one of them, its more a big playground where they leave kids for hours and call it " Preschool "

I can't say enough good things about Sunshine House. They have been more than amazing. We weren't sure if our son was ready for preschool and specially during Covid but it was definitely the best decision. We have seen the positive changes in our son and how much he's learned. He always looked forward to his next day of school and would come back home happy with a project in hand and telling his sister what he did at school. He loved his teachers and the new friends he's made during his time at Sunshine. Now we feel he's definitely more ready for T-k this fall. Thank you so much to all the teachers at Sunshine House in Concord for making my son's first experience of school amazing, easy, fun and educational. We will definitely be calling back to enroll our daughter when it's her turn.

We are 3 months in, and our family couldn't be happier with our decision to start our daughter at Sunshine House! Several mom friends have their kids at the other locations and speak so highly of Sunshine House, so when I heard a location had opened up in Concord I scheduled a tour right away. My husband and I looked at 5 preschool options in total, and after our tour of Sunshine House we had absolutely no question that it was the right fit! It felt like family, and many of the teachers have been with the school for years and years. Our daughter started shortly after turning 2, and all of the teachers were so warm and comforting as she transitioned into a school environment (she had only been home with family previously). I loved that I could call or text to check in on her, and often times in the first few weeks the teachers would beat me to it and send pictures and progress updates. Our daughter is absolutely loving it and thriving there. She comes home singing new songs, showing off her art work, and engaging us in new imaginary games. She loves her teachers and friends and even talks about missing them over the weekends. I find that it is just the right mix of free play time and structured activities, and Sunshine House emails the weekly curriculum and themes ahead of time so that parents can get a sense of what the kids are up to and reinforce learning at home. The kids also spend a ton of time outside which was important to me as I did my search, and they have both a front and backyard, which is incredibly spacious. The school itself is recently renovated both on the interior and the outside play areas, and it is kept very clean. It is the best feeling as a parent to arrive in the afternoon and observe our daughter playing with friends outside or engaged in circle time and literally always smiling. Proudly and happily would recommend Sunshine House in Concord to any families who are looking!
