Wonderfully caring people who serve their community in many ways. They are a good example of how to live as Christians.

They are a great staple in the community. Thank you to all who volunteer.I hope that County Connections Community Relations sends someone over to give them passes for persons without cars. With everything they organize I believe this place is considered a CORE agency. It would help out a lot.

I come here once a month but always leave feeling like crap. It's one of their helpers and I apologize because I do not know his name personally but he is a very tall white male that is about 350 lbs that helps fill the carts in the back. At first I thought maybe he was just having a bad day the last time that I asked him to please not fill my basket with junk food snacks for tv kids and pork because they have very high triglycerides and we were told by the doctor to only eat lean red meats like beef and lamb, fish, and chicken and turkey and to stay away from any packaged sweets and pastas, white rice, white breads. I left with 3 of their USDA bags filled with a few canned goods, beans, and rice and some carpet cleaner for a machine I don't even own. He was also upset that o asked him for wipes and diapers for my baby, he huffed and puffed. This last time I didn't even bother telling him to exclude anything because he virtually gave us nothing but those brown bags filled with dry beans, rice, and some canned goods the last time i said something. So I didn't complain. But when he came in to see how many people we had I said "Hi!" And he rolled his eyes at me and looked away right away to avoid eye contact and ignored me. Then when I told the office gentleman If they could please include diapers and wipes for my baby he yelled out to the larger man saying "did you hear that (insert his name here)?" And although the never responded to me asking him, he yells back "yeah I heard her!" With a bad attitude in his voice. He then gave me mostly chicken, a bunch of pork chops, two large boxes of donuts, some bathroom wet wipes not baby wipes, and a bottle of pinesol. Given the ages of my children, why does this man never (been here over 4 times now) give me any kind of canned fruit, apple sauces, fruit pouches for the baby, cereal for the kids, snacks for the kids, NOTHING but cupcakes and donuts if he does give that (3 out of the 4 or so times most of the food was junk food) they even have fresh garlic, oranges, apples all of these items I can physically see with my own two eyes but he never packs any of this food for us. Why is that? With his attitude and the way he acts towards me I feel like I could never ask him for anything. But why should I have to why is he only willing to give us it seems like the bottom of the barrel and stale old bread? Why can't my family get fresh fruit and vegetables and herbs and snacks, and cereals and canned beans and canned fruits, and all of these things that I see sitting on their overly crowded shelves in their large room, but he proceeds to give me an empty basket with barely anything in it, and tells me sorry we don't have much every single time I go there as it's as if I am blind, and cannot see all the food sitting on their shelves. I took back the pork chops and asked the other gentleman that was outside helping load stuff. If he wouldn't mind taking all the pork chops back and giving me just some applesauce for the baby and the boys to at least get them some sort of nutritious snack from them. We always end up throwing half of the stuff away because most of it is either stale or things like canned pork, which we cannot eat. If it weren't for the other workers I've encountered I'd only had given one star. But they can't make up for the quality of food he serves my family or the way he rolls his eyes at me and makes me feel every time I go and he is there.

So we received some books which was wonderful for my husband's granddaughter and a snowman kit which is great however I had noticed when I brought back the basket that oranges we're available I asked the lady in the office if we could have a few I had returned some groceries that I was not going to be eating that way I did not waste food the lady was extremely rude she told me we cannot pick and choose she denied me any fruits and vegetables I feel highly offended and disrespected just because I'm low income does not mean I should be treated like I am less than anybody else

I understand that food products that is given to the needy has a expired date as I was told by the director of this organization, but I received spoiled orange juice, and a already opened container of milk. This happened after I was told to keep back six feet from others. There was only 4 of us waiting for service, I was 2nd in line, but on staff member was very rude to me. I believe she sabotaged my gift due to her having some type of vendetta towards me. I have it on film but unable to upload it. I will see if I can get this info the the main chief of the Salvation Army food distribution center. We must not have hate when serving people in need!

I went here on Friday October 18, 2019. I asked someone is this where I come to get some food for my family they said this is the place however we ran out of food please come back on Monday I said oh OK and I noticed a lot of people there so I mentioned that and they said oh we're just giving them the rest of ok min doing a Christmas program and he says oh you just missed it the deadline was on Friday and I said I was just here on Friday and I asked them what was going on and they said that they had ran out of food for me to come back on Monday. So I asked him if there was something I could do to sign up for Christmas if there was something he could do to help me and he said no OK I just moved to conquer and our funding is real low and my husband just lost his job and we've just been having a lot of bad luck sprung on us but God is good and something good will come out of this my kids have autism and I feel like I wouldn't of come to the Salvation Army for food if I didn't need the help but the man made me feel really really bad for asking for help I left there in tears and you guys have a lot of good resources here in Concord actually a lot of good resources in Contra Costa County So I guess I had to give them one star but I didn't even want to give them that star I will just pray for them maybe they were having a bad day I don't know but they made me feel real bad for asking for help oh and then another thing after I receive the food from them there was like like a pile of garbage sitting like off to the side and it was like a nightstand and the doors were broken often so I figured it was garbage and I saw there was two picture frames there so I grabbed them and the same guy that yelled at me the other day comes out and says didn't you just come and get food for your family and I said yes I did and he said and you're going to come here and steal from us and I said still from you what are you talking about he says that our stuff is on our property is our stuff So I politely put back the two picture frames I didn't throw him I didn't break them I gently set them back down and I apologize to him and told him I'm sorry I thought it was garbage and left and that was it
