Dogs Will Play
1302 Galindo St #200, ConcordI’ve been taking my dog here for about 5 months now since moving to Concord and I have to say this is the best doggy day care I’ve ever taken him to. Despite having 40-60 days a day (on weekdays), Melissa and her colleagues remembered my dog’s name after just one visit! When I pick him up, they usually provide me with an update on who he’s played with and how he did that day. Also, Melissa helped me today with removing a tick off my dog, which I was grateful for! These people know their stuff! Love this place!

Pet Care
Restful Paws
1390 Willow Pass Rd, ConcordI would give them 100 stars if I could! It was a painful decision to put our first baby to sleep. It was hard for us and my toddler. But they were great from the beginning. While other company pushing me to commit the appointment when I was struggling what's the best for my cat. Restful paws was being so kind with they soft tones and told me it's ok to cancel on the day of if I can't let go. I did keep my appointment but it comforts me and release the pressure when they told me I have the option to change my mind on the day It was a super hot day. Doctor was so patience to wait for us saying goodbye to our boy and prepare everything professionally. Even offer something to help my toddler feels better. She gave us space and time to have a proper ceremony for our cat when she was standing there with us under the heat wave. I can't say enough thank you for that. It took me couple months before I can write this review but I'm grateful for their help and I highly recommend them. Thank you again to help our sweet boy passing smoothly and peacefully

Clayton Valley Pet Hospital
4801 Clayton Rd, ConcordDr. Aparicio and staff are great. She doesn't rush through the appointment like most other vets, whether we're there with our 2 dogs for annuals or for a health issue. Sometimes we wait longer than normal but it's ok because I know she's taking the time with other patients that she gives us. I like her honesty-our dogs are our children and as dog parents we need to be reminded they have different needs than humans. She's also very knowledgeable and even helps out with zoos. I love that they will call the drug reps to ask about proper dosages for my tiny rescue and that she will pull out a book now and again to double check something like the compounds, breed, and health issues. It's reassuring that someone is making sure they didn't miss something. There's never unnecessary testing (we have insurance for our dogs so I know I'll get reimbursed) and we can always count on a thorough explanation of what's going on. We're always allowed to stay in the room to help calm them too which I love. This vet has been practicing for many years and between her and the staff you can tell by how they treat the animals. They really love them, care about what they do, and want the best for them. You can tell a LOT about people by how they treat animals. Thanks Dr. Aparicio and team CVPH!

Concord Veterinary Clinic
5201 Clayton Rd, ConcordI must say having to put my sweet boy down, the staff was so Compassionate. We had our appointment 30 min before they closed and quickly realized there was nothing we could do to save our sweet baby. They told us to take as much time before and after. They didn't rush us and we took 2.5 hours after they closed. They never tried to rush us. They even help with the payment. They took what we paid for the vet visit and took it off the price to put him down. I was so thankful that they loved him with us to the end. I went here one other time when he was healthy and they where so sweet with him then too. I don't remember anyone's names. Too sad. But I just want to tell the staff that we there to help my Juno, thank you!

ABC Veterinary Hospital
2056 East St, ConcordI'm hoping that anyone who is considering taking their pet here do not. I only gave 5 stars so this gets seen but I wouldn't give any stars. I made an appointment when my cat had an abcess on the back of his neck from a cat fight and i only went there because my mom would take our dog years ago and i got an appointment for next day plus I wanted a second opinion if the wound might need to be drained or not but at the very least i needed to get an antibiotics prescription. Anyways, we arrived and we were the only ones there so my mom and I sat in the chairs facing the room they brought my cat they left the door open so I'm looking directly at them, the Dr and his receptionist, (I think only 2 people work there man and woman) and he has one side of the carrier unzipped and is trying to shake my cat out onto the table but he's obviously holding on (btw the carrier unzipped on top and both sides) and he reached in the carrier grabbing my cat by the abcess on the back of his neck and dragging him out I'm not even joking he told the receptionist to help him by holding the carrier down still my cat was meowing loud and holding on for dear life terrified. My mom and I both can't believe what is happening I started yelling stop! you're having him by his abcess you're hurting him and it's like they forgot we were right there until I yelled out but they apparently didn't see anything wrong because he kept trying to pull him out and I started crying and I told my mom to get my cat I stepped out front because I was pissed off I didn't want to hurt someone and then they told me to come in and apologized but denied they were hurting my cat and that yanking him was causing him pain, didn't even offer pain medication, my cat was trembling that was the first time he's ever trembled. I felt guilty and couldn't stop crying because I brought him there.

SAGE Veterinary Centers - Concord
2055 Meridian Park Blvd, ConcordI can't speak highly enough of Dr. Griffin and the veterinary tech staff at SAGE Concord. We were directed by our local vet to have our 14 year old pitty looked at by a specialist for a potential spinal or neurological issue - they did such a wonderful job taking care of her and helping us to feel at ease during her treatment; options were carefully explained and questions readily answered. The documentation provided to support after care was thorough and easy to understand, and I loved that the overnight nurse caring for our pup during her hospital recovery sent us pics to show us how she was doing. For expert companion animal care, I would definitely return to SAGE and would recommend them.

2151 Salvio St Suite J, ConcordFive stars for the vibe alone. It's just a really good beer bar. They have a truly rotating list of beers, and while sometimes I'm sad I can't come back to the same beer a few weeks in a row, I love that I get to be adventurous with my choices. There is an indoor section and an outdoor patio with several fire pits. It's also facing Todos Santos plaza. I haven't had the food, but the diverse beer selection (both draft and in the fridge) keep me coming back.

Lima
2151 Salvio St Suite I, ConcordFriday lunch was AWESOME! We had tried Lima before and it sounded good.... we were NOT disappointed! OMGoodness, this was a fabulous re-find!!! Everything looked really good, but we zeroed in on their Lunch Specials - it WAS lunchtime! We were served drinks, and a special corn appetizer / nibble. These little nuggets were a great introduction to Peruvian cuisine and culture! We easily made our choices - I ordered the Shredded Chicken Stew, and my husband ordered Pork Adobo. But first... soup or salad.... Soup, of course! In very little time a steaming, generous bowl of Chicken Cilantro soup was served. The bowl was abundant with beautiful vegetables, all swimming in a delicious, savory broth! There were just so many perfectly cooked veggies and an abundance of shredded chicken! The perfect portion of rice was nestled in the bottom of the bowl, and with each generous spoonful, a most amazing soup was enjoyed. This was really, really good soup! And then.... our entrees arrived. My Shredded Chicken Stew was artistically beautiful! The bright yellow colors were highlighted with a tasty black olive, some fresh, crunchy walnut pieces, and perfectly cooked hard-cooked eggs.Tucked inside the amazing stew sauce were potato medallions that added flavor and texture, and that "love of potato" that means YUM! A most generous serving of succulent, shredded chicken was cloaked in the sauce, and with each bite of stew, an accompaniment of delectable rice completed the taste feast! The rice was soft with a mild flavor that complemented the stew so well, AND corn that was similar to hominy but added a gorgeous flavor and amazing texture that made the rice fabulous in flavor, texture and everything! SO GOOD!!! My husband's Pork Adobo was equally delicious - I tried a bite+! AMAZING! The pork was tender, fresh, and truly slow cooked and seasoned! It was presented on a bed of soft beans - absolutely perfectly cooked to fresh, velvety texture. The rice was the same as mine, and was paired with this entree as well! (The rice was soft with a mild flavor that complemented the dish so well, AND corn that was similar to hominy but added a gorgeous flavor and amazing texture that made the rice fabulous in flavor, texture and everything! SO GOOD!!!) The "garnish" was much more than that! The fresh mint salsa highlighted the red onion criola - as the menu says. It was succulent and added such flavors to the pork. A most beautiful marriage - happy, happy, HAPPY! The dessert menu is very Peruvian - and all things are made in-house and homemade! I would have chosen the special bread pudding, but my husband wanted to try the donuts. They are made with squash and pumpkin, which create a more dense donut. Instead of the usually light and airy fried delight, these donuts have a beautiful, deep and rich flavor, but the texture is a little more moist and dense. Serving them with the rich molasses sauce make it a truly flavorful - and at this time of the year - seasonal treat. (Next time it will be the bread pudding though...) Lima Restaurant is in Todos Santos, where there is always plenty of parking (in the lot, especially) and a historical area too. Right across from the park, there are often special events and such - but Lima Restaurant will be our primary destination for more great Peruvian food!

Other
Bay Area Animal Rescue Crew
1637 Lindbergh Dr, ConcordOur 3.5-year-old Frenchie jumped off our bed and ruptured a disc. Griffin couldn't walk or stand up on his own. His legs were becoming more stiff as the hours went on. The local vet in Napa said we needed a neurologist and sent us for emergency care at SAGE in Redwood City. They told us that he was becoming paralyzed and that we needed to get him an MRI ($3000) and an aggressive back surgery that was only an 80% chance he recovers from this. That would cost us approx $18,000 dollars. Not to mention the aftercare costs. If we couldn't do that, then we should euthanize him humanely there that day. We cried it out and begged for an alternative so they sent us home with a gloomy diagnosis that the steroids will probably not help and to have him put down if he become fully paralyzed and struggled with his breathing. We were trying to figure out what else could be done and our family friend messaged us with Linda from Bay area Animal rescue crews information. Linda from BAY AREA ANIMAL RESCUE CREW called us and immediately suggested we take Griffin to Concord, Alpine Vet Hospital. That night we showed up to the Clinic at 6pm (they have great hours for working families too! )Linda Greeted us and took us in to meet Dr Freeman who in detail explained this Hib Laser that could help Griffin to walk again for hundreds of dollars not thousands!!!! He also did a few tests in front of us to test Griffin's reflexes. And he quickly was able to explain Parysis vs Paralysed. Griffin had a shot. And the Vet scheduled 7 visits for this HIb laser in a matter of 2 weeks. After the first treatment, it was clear we had some results. Griffin who was not lifting his head on his own, left the clinic with his head up! Linda called us that night for after care and to make sure we were doing everything in our power to give him the best chance. She double-checked our meds. She advised on what food we should be feeding him. (he wasn't eating at the time) her suggestions and help did not go in vain. I truly believe she is a godsend for our Griffin and for us. We kept him on the Steriods and he's been on some anti-inflammatories and pain meds for the last 27 days. I am happy to report Griffin is 90% better! He still doesn't take the stairs or do any jumping (we will be limiting that for a long time ) But he is walking with the occasional stumble. I feel like Linda and the Rescue crew and Dr Virk and Dr Freeman and the rest of the staff at Alpine are a Group of people who deserve this praise. And a BIG HUGE THANK YOU! OUR family is healed and this help means more to us than I can put in this review! They were kind to us and helped us as if it was their dog suffering! I will be singing your praise for years to come. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts !
