I have been with Patelco since 1994 and closed my account yesterday. Over the years I've had a few experiences where staff has made a mistake that put me in an uncomfortable position. One example is when someone made a second checking account for me when I got a credit card, and rather than close that account when I asked, she told me I had to keep a balance in both accounts! I wanted to close my account then but I couldn't afford to at the time.Last week I applied for a $1000 "ScoreUp" credit builder loan. I was approved online and didn't hear from anyone for a few days. I called and asked for information and was told my case had been assigned but I hadn't heard anything about a payout. Then I went into the branch and was told the same thing, it was assigned and they couldn't do a payout there. I called again on another day and someone told me the "ScoreUp" loan doesn't actually pay out. It's a savings account you pay 8% interest on to help you build credit, and you can't touch the money in the meantime. I asked if it's like a secured credit card and apparently it's not.All this was in pretty convoluted fine print when I double checked. No one in the branch could explain this to me when I was obviously confused? Or did they just not know? The loan officer assigned to my loan couldn't find the time to reach me? I'm done. I can't afford to get taken advantage of by this "credit union" anymore. This is the most for-profit nonprofit on earth. I opened an account at Pacific Service Credit Union today and they've already streamlined the process of refinancing my auto loan for lower monthly payments and a lower interest rate than Patelco offered.

8/25/2019 between 9:30 and 10pm I attempted to deposit $200 into my account. I went to the ATM, put in my card, entered my pin, hit the deposit button, and followed the steps to deposit the $200 cash into my checking account. After I put the money in the slot and watched my two crisp $100 bills go in, I stood there for a long time waiting for the deposit to complete. The longer it took the more nervous I got. Finally an ERROR message came on the screen stating the ATM didn't detect any bills deposited. Edit: 11/21/22 I don't remember how this issue was resolved, but I'm no longer a customer with them so probably not well.

I had open a CD with one of the most enthusiastic helpful and friendly Patelco Credit Union members. His name is Yaveth Gomez. He was very patient and very nice and help me open a 18 month CD. He is a dynamic worker and definitely is an asset to Patelco Credit Union. I really like his work ethics. Please give him a gift card for $100 for his great attitude and helpfulness. you go Yaveth!!

Patelco is seriously the best. If I had I walked into Patelco instead of Chase 10 years ago when I moved to the bay I would be a lot better off. The advisors are very helpful In person and at the help center when you call. I went in for a personal loan and ended up redirecting my financial future in a more positive direction away from predatory interest rates.

If I could give a -0 review I would. I'm not sure what has happened to Patelco credit Union, once upon a time it was a really good credit union you always got a smile and you were treated as though you were a friend that they looked forward to spending time with. Now they seem to have a lot of turnover with employees you're made to feel that you're not important and you're bothering them taking their time, you're always having to wait and it's very frustrating when it's the employees talking to each other more than helping customers. When you try to call in it's nearly impossible to get through, and when you go to the branch and expect a phone call back the next day because you're told you'll receive that call and you don't, it it's very frustrating. I have been with Patelco for many many years but it's time for me to fly.

I had one of the experiences today from the teller named George that does not make me feel valued as a member of this Patelco Credit Union.I've gone to this branch a lot, and I sometimes ask for newer bills especially when I'm giving a gift. It's graduation season after all! It has never been a problem before.Today, I ask for the same request. He hesitates - I explain that I've always done this. The tellers in the past have always gone out of their way to withdraw more and help pick the newer bills from what the machine spits out.He still says that he can't, because there's others in line that he has to help!Is it because I have less in my balance? What happened to focusing with the member that is currently in front of you?Am I then just a "number" to George? Someone he can have go through the line, so he can do the next task?I have a lot of accounts with Patelco - , important experiences like this is always key as there's so many financial institutions out there I could use.

If you're not a fan of big banks and all the ways they find ways to charge you extra, I'll just share that in my experience, every Patelco I've been to has been positive. Also, the fact that every 7 Eleven ATM is free of surcharges for Patelco customers is a huge plus for ATM availability!

Been with credit union for over 40 years. Good loan rates, easy to deal with and have never had any issues with them. I don't use a bank, only Patelco. They have taken care of all my needs!

My review is for Lauren G. She helped my husband and I through the process of opening an account for our daughter. She was professional, fast, and super personable. Thank you Lauren for making this a great experience.

I've come to this location a couple times when I've had to make changes to my account or to make deposits. Staff here is friendly, the office is clean/organized, and in the late morning there wasn't too much of a wait. There are hand sanitizers located around room which is nice. All my needs were taken care of. My only gripe is that they don't accept checks made out to "cash" and I had a few of those given as gifts from family. You then have to ask them to write your name on the check for Patelco to deposit it. It is a bit of a hassle but it is their protocol. All in all, this establishment takes care of everything I need!

"IndyMac is a disgrace" "Where do I start with this bank....?" We almost lost our home to this bank had it not been for my perseverance and unfaltering commitment to staying the course we would've. I compressed all my notes (500 pages) for this "brief." This started several years ago, when we fell into the "economic hardship" along with millions of Americans in this country during the housing catastrophe. I recall seeing entire families lose their entire investments, jobs, and homes. The bailout money given was used for further investments as well as lucrative bonus to their top executives (60 minutes). These banks have been exposed with "Robo signing" of loans without fully investigating as to whether or not homeowners were qualified to purchase homes (60 minutes) as well as shoddy paperwork in giving loans at higher rates..... "In my particular case, my home depreciated along with loss of income. I requested for a remodification." These institutions play games with you. They told me more than once that they have my packet then made me "jump through hoops" by requesting I resend the same paperwork because they didn't have it even after I sent them certified. They must be laughing in the back room when they tell each other what they did. Having spent hundreds of dollars (certified, return receipt, additional copies, notary) in sending correspondence to INDYMAC over the years (submitted close to a dozen applications, every time, they said I was qualified and to "resubmit") only to learn it was all for not and discovering that these people were just playing games with us. Getting back to my story, I finally spoke with someone (anonymous) who said, I quote, "if you want your application to be reviewed, stop paying your monthly?!" I thought how absurd. He added, which later made sense, "Why should the bank consider you for a modification if you are making your monthly payments on time...." He said. "The loans that are in delinquent status are seen first and those that aren't, are tossed aside!" (End quote) I was furious at hearing this and was more committed than ever. The loan officer who handled our paperwork inaccurately stated that we earned more than we actually did and when I tried to correct his account I was called a "liar." (Over the phone) Now don't get me wrong, I can take being called a lot of things but "when you call me a liar, it's on." Of course they would never give me a number to their legal department because it wasn't allowed according to this case worker who was eventually fired and replaced. I started a vigorous "writing campaign" which lasted almost a year to the "Members of the Senate Subcommittee Office in charge of Housing along with Congressmen & women and all Federal Housing Enforcement Agencies responsible for monitoring the banks. Over 100 letters were drafted and sent out to include notes. I also presented my case to an attorney who specialized in false foreclosures and stated because my case was solid (paperwork evidence of original loan with signatures) he would represent us "Pro Bono." All this pending legal action was relayed to an IndyMac case worker. My letters along with my pending civil action paid off because almost a year to the date in which I started this letter campaign, the bank assigned a "Loan Mitigating Specialist who straightened our hardship paperwork out to reflect our true income and we were remodified. These institutions are crooks and in no way have an interest in helping homeowners who are struggling. Had it not been for my pending lawsuit, the banks would've foreclosed... Congress threatens actions to no avail and it's still business as usual.
