I had a wonderful experience at Golden State Lumber's Concord location. I talked to Mr. Kevin Matteri before arriving, communicating about an Eagle Project I was working on, and he was very helpful as soon as I arrived. He was friendly and took me to look at many kinds of wood to see which one would work best for my project. His suggestions were useful and he even helped me pick out the right screws for the wood I wanted to use. He was extremely generous with his donation for my Eagle Project and was kind throughout the entire process. I greatly appreciate his help and would like to thank him for his excellent customer service. I would also like to thank an employee who was very helpful in cutting the wood to the sizes I wanted. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask his name but he was very deliberate and took his time cutting the wood to the precise measurements even though they were close to closing time. He was also very patient and he did not seem to mind helping us out, which I greatly appreciated. Overall, I had an amazing experience at Golden State Lumber because all of the staff were kind and patient and their generous donation to my project is one I will never forget. Please make sure to visit Golden State Lumber if you want high quality wood and fantastic customer service!

We had a GREAT visit to Golden State Lumber. We were immediately impressed with the HUGE showroom... clean, inviting, and TONS to see and experience.Yvonne came over to welcome us. She was not only incredibly friendly, but also amazingly knowledgeable about all the windows and doors we wanted to review. She also had a few great alternatives and suggestions we hadn't heard of.Compared to a few other places we visited, we didn't feel any sales-pressure or bias towards a product that may not be a good fit. She was very interested in the balance between our budget and our wants/needs and kindly directed us accordingly... while patiently answering our endless questions.

As of december 2023 their prices were better than dolan’s lumber. Would recommendPros:-friendly staff-great delivery drivers-exchanged items that were defective-wood is kept inside which is not affected by the elementsCons:Their delivery fee is 40 bucks for a “roll off”, which in my opinion can damage the wood

Our experience with Golden State started out positive, we ordered multiple windows and doors through them based on our contractors referral. When the windows arrived, the nightmare began. We have had numerous manufacturer defects (not their fault), but Golden State's failure in addressing these issues is absolutely unacceptable. We placed our order in June of 2022 and everything was installed by December 2022. It is November 2023 and we are still trying to get Golden State to resolve 3 issues: repairing damage their technicians caused while reglazing a large picture window in June, replacing an incorrect screen size and ordering the correct replacement glass for another large picture window both identified in August. The techs arrived to replace the glass today and Golden State had ordered the wrong part. I constantly have to follow up with them to find out what the plan is for resolution only to have them not reply or only answer 1 question about 1 of the outstanding items. If you end up receiving what you ordered, then you'll probably love working with them. But beware if you have any issues, they will make it impossible to get them resolved.

I had to write this review after the exceptional customer service me and my wife received on Tuesday the 28th in the afternoon. A worker by the name of Jose. My wife and I really appreciated his personable nature. Not only was he very knowledgeable in what he was doing. He also directed me and my wife in the right direction as we are fixing a fence at our house. I've visited the store before and have never received the customer service we did that day. Thank you Jose for offering your insightful advice! Your patience and kindness meant the world to us! We will continue to do business with Golden State because of José!

Update, shortly after writing this review someone reached out from customer service and pretended to be concerned. They sent someone out to "fix" my door. They swapped the door handle around leaving an open scrape where I will now need to paint. The door no longer opens or closes at all without pushing your entire body weight against the door so we now have a new problem. I sent them an email which took multiple days to respond to. I am now "back in the queue" for someone to come back out and look at it. No update was provided on how long that will be.

Don't buy doors or door handles here. We spent tens of thousands on MG MillWorks slider doors and outfitting our internal doors with Emtek doorhandles through Golden State Lumber. We were initially planning on spending tens of thousands more, but as we budget for the other four 12' wide picture windows and 12 misc sized windows, we will avoid buying at Golden State Lumber. We have had nothing but problems with the locking mechanism on the sliders, they have never worked and the internal part that breaks (upon simply flipping the lock) is made from a cheap die-cast instead of steel. Sliding doors that do not lock defeat the purpose of securing homes. Apparently, this is a known problem that MG MillWorks refuses to correct and the sales folks at GSL don't care to inform customers about, nor can they be relied upon to get the problem fixed. I have repeatedly reached out to our sales person, Yvonne, about getting them fixed and after having 2 GSL workmen come out to assess the locks 3 months ago, I have not heard a word on any update, on when the part is coming in, nor when they will be out to install the part. Also, during their trouble shooting, the workmen messed up the doors to the extent that they can't be fully opened with one hand; my husband has to put all of his weight, using two hands to either push open or pull close. They are so tight I am unable to open myself, nor can our kids. When I've reached out to Yvonne, she told me I should chase the workers and get them to respond with an update (but hey, no direct contact info for them). You read that right ~ the sales person told the customer to project manage GSL employees. *Are you offering a discount for customers to manage your workmen in fixing issues they created along with not fixing faulty products GSL sold us?* When I went in-person last week, I was told by someone else (who is not a sales person) that, "everyone has a sob story, on why they need doors fixed, but [the sales people] don't really want to deal with customers after the sale" Yes, we noticed. This reads as a top-down problem that literally, everyone in the company, is aware of. Shame on GSL management. Do better for your sales people and for your customers. Avoid at all costs dealing with this business. Find another supplier. It's just not worth the months of stress and chasing for anyone to care about finishing the job. GSL if you aren't paying your sales people to handle issues after delivery of products, hire customer service project managers to do so. Telling your sales people to ignore customer issues with the products you're hawking and failing to fix problems your workmen created is bad business. Re: The replacement of a door handle. I emailed about getting in a replacement and was gaslit by the sales person about it getting ordered for months. These issues don't take rocket scientists to resolve. BBB Customer Trust Score - F

I've been meaning to write this review for a while now due to the excellent service that our company Receives from our sales person Bill Harper. I could not imagine there being a more knowledgeable, more helpful and more efficient person in this company or any company really. No matter our request he always makes something happen. Whether it's getting material pulled from the Concord facility or reaching out to one of the other facilities, he never lets us down. He might not want me mentioning this part... but, he even answers my crazy requests after hours... sorry Bill I had to write that, as it speaks volumes about the dedication to both your clients and your company! I had a last minute order today and had the very fortunate experience of handing my paperwork over to Evan in the warehouse. Evan was extremely helpful. The way that he interacts with customers is a breath of fresh air and something that I do not see very often in today's world. He was cordial, personable and respectful to both my time and that of his employers. He is exactly the type of person that makes coming to a business a treat rather than a chore. Somehow these 2 gentleman made it so I left this establishment in a much better mood than went I entered it. I don't know who is doing the hiring over at Golden State Lumber but they deserve to be commended. I hope you guys take care of these brand ambassadors because if you don't... I guarantee someone else will. Hats off to Bill, Evan and Golden State Lumber in general I have never reached out or purchased something here and been disappointed!
