Friends Some of you know that I’m a Type 1 Diabetic. I was diagnosed late in life at the age of 32! I have low blood sugars often and mainly at night. I go to sleep wondering if I will wake up! The Dogs for Diabetics program trains dogs to help people like me! More importantly they help kids too! Imagine the relief you might feel if you are a parent and afraid your child would go into a diabetic coma while they’re asleep...These dogs and trainers are amazing! They literally can sense a low blood sugar! While there is technological advances, with insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring; equipment fails, trust me...I know! What I also know is that These dogs are amazing!!!! They really need our help right now. If you have the means, please donate what you can

They provide dogs at no cost to improve the lives of insulin-dependent diabetics. There is a lot of attention to proper training of both dogs and handlers and they provide ongoing support for the life of the dog. When the dog becomes unable to continue working, the client is eligible for a new dog. The trainers are willing to help wherever needed, and the chief of the program takes each person’s and each dog’s personality and needs into account when placing dogs, in order to have the best possible chance of success. I don’t think there is a better place to go for a diabetes alert service dog.
