Dr. Aparicio and staff are great. She doesn't rush through the appointment like most other vets, whether we're there with our 2 dogs for annuals or for a health issue. Sometimes we wait longer than normal but it's ok because I know she's taking the time with other patients that she gives us. I like her honesty-our dogs are our children and as dog parents we need to be reminded they have different needs than humans. She's also very knowledgeable and even helps out with zoos. I love that they will call the drug reps to ask about proper dosages for my tiny rescue and that she will pull out a book now and again to double check something like the compounds, breed, and health issues. It's reassuring that someone is making sure they didn't miss something. There's never unnecessary testing (we have insurance for our dogs so I know I'll get reimbursed) and we can always count on a thorough explanation of what's going on. We're always allowed to stay in the room to help calm them too which I love. This vet has been practicing for many years and between her and the staff you can tell by how they treat the animals. They really love them, care about what they do, and want the best for them. You can tell a LOT about people by how they treat animals. Thanks Dr. Aparicio and team CVPH!

NEVER EVER GO HERE!!! Please save your pets because they will get worse if you bring them here!!! If I could leave 0 stars I would.
If ur gonna go to a GOOD vet please go to Oasis in Martinez.
Context: I brought my pet in because they had gotten hurt, the doctor ended up absolutely berating me about how hurt my pet was and basically how it was my fault. I ended up fully sobbing in the medical room from how incredibly rude and disrespectful she was. She on multiple occasions left to go to another room but would leave the back door open, I could hear a cat screaming really loud from getting shots and every time the cat would scream she would say kinda loudly “we GET IT!!”. In the end she recommended a treatment that was actually making my pet more sick and I had to go to a different vet to get them help. I’ve talked to my friends about this hospital and the 3 of them that have gone all had horrible experiences like mine. Please save your pet and don’t ever go here !!!

I had a very nice experience at Clayton Valley Pet Hospital. The doctor and the staff were very knowledgeable and wonderful with my dog. My dog had an ear infection and they were the only veterinary clinic in the area who would work me into their schedule the same day. The other veterinary clinics said they don't make room for same-day appointments. Most of the other clinics that I called said that they would probably have to sedate my dog for an ear infection but after the doctor at Clayton Valley Pet Hospital carefully assessed my dog's condition she used drops inside his ear which actually worked; therefore, my dog did not need to be sedated. I like the fact that this is an independently owned veterinary clinic because it felt like everyone there truly cares about our pets!

I loved my experience at this vet. The vet techs and veterinarian was very knowledgeable about reptiles. I always worry when going to a new vet but everyone was kind and even gave me some helpful advice about my leopard gecko. Thats my boy Taquito btw :)

We switched from another office to Clayton Valley Pet Hospital and we couldn't be more happier. Aparacio is very knowledgeable, thorough, and takes her time at our visits every time. She lets you know the pros and cons about a lot of the vaccines and educates us on what's best for our pet. If you love your pets, bring them here. She is amazing!

For several years I have attended this Pet hospital with my cat and I am always satisfied with the service. Several bad reviews here are a great surprise for me. The doctor is always very attentive, very polite and professional staff, and prices are reasonable. I always have an appointment so can not complain that I wait for a long time, not more then 15-20 minutes, which seems also ok for me. I definitely recommend this Pet hospital!

I found a lost dog and Clayton Valley Pet Hospital was kind enough to check the microchip for me for free and pass along the owner's info. Owner was difficult, did not acknowledge me, thank me or ask where/how I found their dog to fix anything. I was treated with less courtesy than a FedEx delivery. Sometimes you really wonder about people.

AVOID THIS PRACTICE!!! They only have a 5 star rating from reviews 3+ years ago, something has definitely changed since then. I had a HORRIBLE first experience which is why i will not be back. I scheduled an appointment, showed up on time, and was stuck waiting almost 30 minutes in the waiting room when the practice was seriously empty. Then when i was put in a room with my pet, I WAITED ANOTHER 45 MINUTES. While waiting, the door to the back room was open. I was able to see Dr. A and her techs buzzing around the back room talking about some machine that wasnt working properly. I 100% guarantee they forgot about me. I wasnt even updated or a simple "we'll be right with you". After i kept eyeing Dr. A, she finally came into the room and this is where the fun started. I've never met such an arrogant, rude, know-it-all, no-time-for-you person in my life. She barely spoke to me unless it was to scold me about my animal's care. When i asked questions, they were either unanswered or completely disregarded while she went off on a tangent. My pet is also small (can fit in your hand), which she WAVED AROUND WITH HER HAND MOTIONS AS SHE SPOKE TO ME!!! I thought she may be drunk - this was not how a professional should act at all. Then, after the visit, i was charged an exam fee when that is NOT what i was in for and i was told i would NOT be charged for it before entering the exam room. She didnt even examine my pet or let me know how his health was, she literally just trimmed something on my pet. What else i found gross was the practice itself. It doesnt look like its been cleaned or updated since 2002. There was also a vet techs dog behind the desk licking his paw which was really gross looking. apparently they were waiting until the practice closed for the day to examine the employee's dog.TL;DR Overall, not a place i'd recommend to anyone. Wait for them to be bought out or go out of business and cross your fingers that someone ethical and clean comes in.

I brought my puppy in here and we had such a lovely experience. The dr is extremely knowledgeable and you can tell she has been doing this a long time. Yes, some of her views are old school but she truly cares about what is best for your pet. If you can't handle confrontation, then go somewhere else. Also if I could give 100 stars for pricing I would! I have been to many vets in my past and most of them will over charge you for absolutely no reason. This is a family owned vet that has been around for years. She is also reptile certified which is a huge plus considering most vets don't know what to do half the time when you being in something that doesn't have fur! I will continue to bring my animals here as long as I am in the area. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED VET!!!

Dr. A, Tori and Crystal are absolutely lovely. We have taken our kitty Maggie in with her weird stomach issues other vets could not figure out, and now our little rat terrier mix Peach. Dr. A clearly is experienced and has a heart of gold - she takes her time each visit to calm your pet, talk to them, reassure you and them. I never feel like I am being rushed or sold unnecessary pet procedures or medication. She is honest and caring and straightforward. The office is clean and comfortable too. Tori as the main office manager/tech is also just lovely - so calm and kind even if running late and knowing she won't get off on time. Crystal is going to be as amazing as Dr. A - you can tell she loves animals and is a calm, efficient helper and vet in training. It is truly reassuring to know our animal pets are cared for and treated with such love. I highly recommend Clayton Valley Pet Hospital :) thank you all so much!

Despite The “Veterinarian’s Rule” & Dog Bite Law in California, the vet who attempted to give my dog his shots today called and threatened to get police involved and have my dog quarantined after a bite.I left the building after being dismissed by a vet tech. They called back to say I needed to pay for all the services I did not receive which I regret to say I did.I do not believe this establishment is capable of handling more than a small dog or cat.Assumption of risk comes with the job and I was not offered help with restraint (personnel or device).Doctor was rude and condescending before the incident so I can’t say I’m surprised at the way she handled an easily foreseeable event. How they have a 4+ star average with so many 1 star warnings, I couldn’t tell you.
