Today I contacted the Ygnacio Valley Mini Storage, on behalf of an 88yr old elderly person who has been in the hospital for weeks. They had received a notice of lien for a storage payment due 6/1/24. I spoke to a manager that demanded payment for June and July. Unfortunately, we do not have access to her funds and the family lives out of the country. I asked if we could have the family member (that is in Thailand) could make the payment online. Manager said no, cash or cashiers check only. I asked if we paid the full $706.00 for June & July now and we moved everything by 7/5 would they prorate the month of July, considering the circumstances. He said they will not discuss anything like this until the balance is paid in full. Meanwhile, the elderly person has been paying on time for years and years. There was no compassion for their long time customers. I will never use this storage company. And anyone that does, better make sure their loved ones have access to funds and the space or they could end up losing family possessions.

Ah, the American phenomenon that is storage. Interestingly enough, you cannot find this in the far east. It just doesn't exist. Americans are pack rats! Including yours truly (getting better about it though.)
It was really easy to work with Lauren, the manager at this location.
I do dislike the phone process of Central Self Storage overall. Everything is routed through a call center. You can never directly call your location to speak with on-site staff. I guess if you have a large portfolio of storage units, this economy of scale makes sense for the owner, but not the customer since the overseas call center doesn't know anything, can't make meaningful changes to your account and is only taking a message basically and you will get a "call back."
That said, if it wasn't for solid operational teams at the street level like with Lauren, this chain of storage units would be in trouble.
Other than that, can't complain. Everything was secure, nothing caught on fire (one storage place in the past had that problem) and I always felt like my belongings were very secure at this facility.
I'm a bit fascinated with the facility's box truck which is hardly used. It's for rent, it's not included. There's a discount during your first two weeks...but U-Haul is cheaper still. That's a six figure prop basically. Odd way to spend money. How about not do crazy capex projects like that and just pass on the savings to the customers? Sorry, my business manager brain just won't shut up.

Rare increase AGAIN!! This has quickly not become the deal it once was with 3 price hikes in the 2 yrs I've been there and the mandatory insurance required to store items at this facility. Will be looking at other options so they can shove their latest >10% price increase up their @$$!

I have used various self-storage locations in Northern California for a number of years and Ygnacio Valley Self-Storage is far and away the best I have seen. First, the manager Chris is friendly and goes out of his way to be helpful. Second, the facility is always spotless, I mean CLEAN to the nth degree. Staff is always friendly and helpful. This facility is also associated with the Central Self-Storage group. I give this place five stars and if there were any more stars in the rating, I'd give them, too.

Ours was broken into...things were stolen. They're a little pricey for how they look and the "security" isn't that great...(they didn't even notice the lock was missing right away). Don't recommend. Left and went to a new place over a year ago.

I have been loyal customer since 2014/15 to present day . The site is safe staff is always above and beyond helpful and extremely kind prices are most affordable this is great place to store your treasures... Which is why I will continue to do so with mine.Sincerely , K.Ehrlich? ?♀️??

This was the worst place I have ever rented from. In 2017 I rented a storage unit from them. It all started with getting the wrong unit. It was paid for not by me for a year. Then when I moved my things out and the manager was there I found out months later the unit was locked and still in use. They still owe me money for the pre paid months, the manager refused to pay. Not to mention the fact that my lock was taken with me and I was told another lock was put on so it made no sense to me why they allowed someone else to put a lock on my unit then tried to not only tell me that I owed money on the unit, but for them to break the lock I needed to pay. If I were you I would stay away from this place at all costs the manager is rude and disrespectful does not help and seems to not listen or care about you or your things.

I've had my belongings here for over a year. CHRIS the front desk gentleman has been extremely accommodating, direct, attentive & helpful through my whole experience. Best experience with a moving company when it comes to the customer service. Only thing that sucked was the price jumping up over a hundred dollars after the three month deal.
