Barnes & Noble at The Veranda in Concord is a cozy haven for book lovers! The exterior has a charming, inviting look, and the store itself is thoughtfully organized with clear signage and a variety of genres displayed prominently. Their holiday decorations, like the quirky mini tree with burger and strawberry ornaments, add a festive touch to the book-browsing experience.
Inside, the atmosphere is warm and vibrant, with ample seating areas and plenty of space to wander between shelves. The nonfiction section is especially well-curated, featuring popular titles and intriguing monthly picks to inspire readers. There’s also a dedicated display for cookbooks and lifestyle reads, perfect for finding a new recipe or getting holiday gift ideas.
And for the Swifties out there—this Barnes & Noble knows how to cater to the fandom! The Taylor Swift display is a true highlight, showcasing everything from iconic albums like 1989 and Midnights to exclusive fan packs, magazines, and biographies. It feels like a mini shrine to Taylor, capturing her impact as both a music and cultural icon. Swifties will feel right at home here, and it’s hard not to be drawn to this thoughtful display.
Overall, a delightful spot to lose yourself in a book, dive into some Taylor Swift nostalgia, and get a head start on holiday shopping! ?✨

The selection of books here is fine—standard for a Barnes & Noble. I like how all the aisles and shelves are neat and clean as well, although the sale section is a bit weaker than some of the other B&N’s I’ve been to. My biggest issue here is with the staff, especially how they treat customers around closing time.
There’s one employee in particular (older, shoulder-length haired woman) who starts to stand at the entrance around 10-15 minutes before closing, telling everyone that comes in that “the bathroom is closed, the cafe is closed, if you know what you want, go grab it and bring it to the counter.” People already know what to do—in my opinion, all she needs to say is that they’re closing in 15 minutes for people to understand. No need to make such a big deal and be condescending in the process. It makes for such a stressful shopping process too, hearing her repeatedly tell everyone to hurry up basically.
Once it gets within 10 minutes of closing, almost every single one of the employees starts going around and asking if you “need help finding anything.” It’s fine if just one employee asks, but that’s not the case. I had two ask within 3 minutes today. It’s apparent that they’re trying to shuttle you out the door, but there’s still 10 minutes left before closing. I promise I’ll leave before then, but can’t I just browse in peace until then?
I’ve never been to a B&N that was so pushy around closing time like this. I just think there’s a more comfortable and pleasant way to make it clear that the store is closing, rather than stressing everyone out the way they do. Safe to say this location won’t be my regular bookstore.

Honestly I like Barnes and noble but I had a bad experience with the cashier named Fidele J. I’m not sure if they have to meet a quota or what for the “rewards program” but I said multiple times no I don’t want it because I have not really been to Barnes and noble in months, I don’t live near one I don’t need a rewards reprogram. One of the members in my party said they were interested and Fidele J. said to me, “she’s smart, I like her.” Just because don’t want to do some stupid rewards program? Wow

I caught several Foreign spies perusing maps of the US and discussing nefarious plans to hit every 24 hour pancake house in every state in order to judge the winner.

The store was clean, organized, and had really helpful staff. It also has a nice cafe with a decent amount of options for coffee. The only downside is they close at 8 pm. Good place to hit up after you've been to any of the surrounding restaurants.

They had the news book I was looking for so I bought it but it didn't smell like a bookstore. I've got to go to a used book store and get a taste of the aroma of a real book store.
