I just attended the bread making class and I loved it! I learned so much and feel more confident about baking my own bread at home. Ron, our instructor was a wealth of information and I love his sense of humor. Thank you so much!

A ride through the lovely countryside of Tuolumne County brings you to Yankee Hill Winery Cooking School. The class fee was reasonable. The instructional kitchen was large, and well equipped. The information shared with the students, and the hands-on opportunities for students to help prepare the various elements was also nice; however the Chef was obnoxious, arrogant and condescending. When my friend asked him a single question about a particular appliance, Chef Ron turned to me and said my friend must not be very bright. Throughout the class Chef was also quite rude to me and a couple of other women. His behavior ruined the experience for the two of us. We have enjoyed several other cooking classes during our travels and had never experienced anything like this before. We will not return.

I recently brought a group of 44 seniors to visit and what a fabulous time we had !!! Ron was kind enough to pick us up at Columbia Park and shuttle;e our group up to his house. When we arrived we had appetizers and then we proceeded to make a delicious Italian lunch .. everyone got involved from making fresh pasta to chopping salad items and making fresh cheese curds to filling ramekins with creme brulee!!! What a delicious feast we had..we got recipes of the foods we made and I can't say it enough about what a wonderful time we had. I will be back !!

My wife and I took a class here a couple of years ago. While we did learn some things, she would not go back due to Ron's sarcastic attitude that goes beyond harmless humor. My BIL and I just took a sausage class that we had really been looking forward to. Again, we we happy that we got to learn and gain experience, but the chiding and downright mean attitude really cast a cloud. Out of five participants, three of us did the vast majority of the work. One couple did the minimum then sat down and drank wine, talking to the chef while he barked at us if we spoke while doing all of the work. When we made reservations for this class, we were told to bring a cooler to take home the sausage that we made in class. Our wives planned a meal around this and were ready for us to grill up some of our hand made sausages. At the end, after running late, we asked about taking our share home. We were told that we could not take anything home for insurance reasons. He claimed never to have told us that we would be taking sausage home. He absolutely did, multiple times. The description on the web site implies the same. He said that cooked food was ok to take but not raw. I told my BIL to tie his apron back on and get to cooking. We cooked six sausages. There were 24lbs of sausage made in that class, plus another 15lbs of ground pork. The other thing was the subject matter. Sausage and the casings have obvious sexual connotations, but Chef pushed that subject a little too far. His teaching manner is the opposite of a positive learning experience. It seems that he holds these classes simply to have a captive audience to mock. I'm not sure if the whole taking sausages home was a lie or dementia, but it was a very awkward situation.
