The first thing I asked the counter person was if they had boxes that the candy could be shipped in since I was getting a birthday present for my daughter and had to mail it. I am guessing that when we hand select candy we receive a flimsy box and the candies are not placed in paper cups inside a standard sturdy box that the pre packaged candy usually comes in. I didn’t complain at the time because the selection was excellent but after paying over $40.00 and imagining my daughter opening up a box of candy where all the pieces are jammed together I was thinking she would consider that I didn’t put much thought into this one time a year birthday gift. I won’t be shopping there again. My daughter received the candy and one mint was smooshed. The $7.95 Marshmallow Candy was damaged and did not come with the painstaking design that the person who made the candy had done. The white pin line frosting that was a beautiful decoration was broken into pieces.

I got one of the chili chocolates and a dark chocolate dipped apricot, my husband got it few of the chocolate dipped ginger pieces. The apricot had no flavor at all, the chili chocolate was a little spicy but the chocolate was tasteless. My husband said the same thing about the ginger. The place came highly recommended, but was a complete disappointment.

Love this candy store! They have a huge selection of candy. My favorites are the handmade Rocky Road, the marshmallows, the flavored jelly candy and the dark chocolate almond bark. I always stock up on my candy when we're here.

Five generations of this family have worked in this store. Recipes are from the 1800s. They make everything in the store from wonderful chocolates to hard candies. Prices are very reasonable and you can get as much or as little as you want. Well worth a visit!

Delicious chocolates in too many flavors to mention hand-made by the fifth generation of candy makers right there in beautiful historic Columbia State Park in the heart of Gold Country. We told her we needed a refill on our chocolate prescription and did she deliver!

Let me just start by saying that I have not had chocolate like this in California. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you stepped into a different era. The decor, the ambiance, the ladies behind the counter in their lovely get up and the sweet smell all transports you to a different time. We got a bunch of different types of chocolates and candies (New Year Resolutions not withstanding. Our favorite chocolates out of all our loot were: 1. Australian pears dipped in chocolate 2. Orange peel dipped in chocolate 3. Ginger dipped in chocolate 4. English toffee was one of the best I have ever had 5. Pine nut rounds 6. Honeycomb dipped in chocolate From the candies we got, we really liked the Australian Strawberry Licorice and the Dutch Mix licorice. I am not a big licorice fan but this licorice was very soft and yummy. Also, the fresh fruit chews were amazing, we got all the flavors and they were all super good. A big shout out to the lovely ladies, very patient and helpful to customers.

Let me start by saying that the ladies in here were the absolute sweetest on a pretty busy day! The shop just feels homey in a nostalgic way and they had the cutest Halloween decorations up! We tried the fudge and the divinity which was divine! Totally worth a stop in.
