Nelson’s Columbia Candy Kitchen is a nostalgic and historic candy store located in central Columbia State Park. For five generations, the Nelson family has delighted visitors with the finest handmade candies and confections in the Sierra Foothills. They use pure and fresh ingredients, cooked in bright copper kettles and cooled on marble tables that are over 100 years old. The clerks wear Gold Rush period clothing. The store has something for everyone, from traditional chocolate peanut butter cups to chocolate covered honeycomb, lollipops, jelly candy, and even sugar-free chocolate options. Their chocolates are delicious with smooth, creamy centers that melt in your mouth. Specific favorites include the malt balls, which are top tier, the honeycomb, chocolate rocks, and the milk chocolate caramel marshmallow bar. The staff is happy to help, even when very busy. Nelson’s makes great quality, amazing tasting treats and takes such pride in their product. They do not cut corners and show their values in every piece. They are a business that values their community, generously donating to local causes. With very few candy companies left that still have this personal touch, Nelson’s sets itself above the rest. This place is a must when in the area.
