It's a family tradition now to go there every year. We book the camping spot each year right after we leave there. It's very family friendly with a lot of camping activities and good facilities. The restrooms and shower rooms are clean and spacious. It's right next to the American River with a good view and convenient to arrange a day trip on the water for rafting. The store is lovely and it carries almost everything you need for camping. Their souvenirs are cute too. You can even buy a small bottle of gold for kids :)

We've been coming to Coloma Resort with our trailers for 4 years with friends. It's on the American River. They have RV, cabins, wagons, and tent camping sites. Many sites are on the riverbank. These have power and water with a dump station onsite. Most sites off the river are full hook-up. They have a pool, playground, store, and a lot of grassy areas. Several restrooms and showers throughout the park. Always well stocked and clean.
Best for last the staff are so friendly. Hope you enjoy the site.
RV sites have a noon checkout time. Cabins are a 10am checkout. We scheduled our 2025 Memorial Stay when we checked out. The facility has gotten a face-lift with automated gates, a check-in shack, and upgraded greenery.
Labor Day 2024: The park is full. Had a nice visit with friends. I'm hoping to book a spot for 2025.

Stayed on the river side spot, plenty of nature. Kids were able to look out windows of 5th wheel and saw a deer early in the morning go by our campsite. Sound of water flowing is calming.

Let me start by saying I DO recommend this place. The reason for the lower star rating is because the checkin staff was not all that friendly, they didn't provide enough coffee filters (I was in one of the cabins for 4 nights and there was only 1 coffee filter, but they did place some on the table later that day while I was out), there were a few cockroaches which they didn't seem to care when I let them know, and the place was not well cleaned at all. Cobwebs, dust, and a window that could barely be seen from because it had so much spiderwebs and gunk in it (on the outside of the window). It was $400 a night for the cabin and was not worth that price based on the lack of cleanliness and supplies. Cool loft included in the cabin though, which is great for kids.
Otherwise, I can say that the resort itself is great. Right next to a river, pool access, and lots of cool communal activities such as giant chess and Cornhole, amongst a few other activities. Great family place and great facility overall. The price and condition of the room was the only unsatisfactory part of the trip. Had a great time here otherwise.

Great resort on the American River. Lots of loud mariachi music day and night. There is 1 security person for a large campground. They respond based on text when they “get to it” because it’s noisy all over. Reservations are now nearly impossible to obtain. Tents and cabins are now disbursed throughout the resort. Not what it used to be. Maybe different owners idk.

We booked a site for 5 nights, it was a river side spot. It was such a beautiful view and a private trail down to the river. On our first night, when I was returning from the bathroom I saw a cockroach near our tent. We got out our flashlights and found 4 more climbing on our tent and then saw hundreds more (might be overestimate but that's what it looked like) running up and down the hill just outside our tent. We killed a few and then decided to go to bed and try not to think about it. The next morning we mentioned it to a staff member and they didn't seem surprised. So, we decided we would try to deal with it ourselves. When the sunset we got out our roach killer and begin to put a barrier around our site but that didn't stop them, so we started spraying them, but they kept coming out of nowhere. We eventually ran out of roach killer and it didn't seem to do anything so we went to bed. The next morning we asked to move to a bunk house due to concern of the roaches getting into our stuff. The staff were more than helpful with the switch but still were not surprised about the cockroach issues. Then, I went to use the shower down from our bunk and when I left the shower (it was evening) there were roaches outside and in the grass, around the outside of all the bunk houses in our area as well. If it were not for the roach issue I would rate this place 5 stars, it's clean (besides the roaches at night), the staff were all nice and helpful, and the river was great. I would return here if they got ride of the cockroach issue!

Stayed with this group for a week and they were very accommodating. Went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. Everything was as advertised.

I read through others reviews and I’m super super surprised that only one person mentioned the cockroaches. We’ve been coming here for years and I was really disgusted with the amount of cockroaches running around at night this year. First noticed at my campsite on the river so we picked up all our stuff off of the floor where roaches could hide. We park our trailer at home and the last thing I want is an infestation of roaches at my house. It just takes one pregnant female to start it all. We have dogs so we walk them just before bed and all I can say is be careful people! You will end up taking roaches home if you leave stuff laying around. Go out on a walk at night and pay attention to the ground, THEY ARE EVERYWHERE! It’s such a beautiful place but it’s so disappointing to see all the roaches. The first night we were there was when I noticed. I asked the lady at the front desk, Joey, if anyone else had complained about roaches at our campsite and she said No. she said she would have someone come over and check and someone did but they didn’t do anything about it. Originally I thought it was only our site but Nope. I’m also surprised at how overgrown all the weeds are along the hillside at the river. For what they charge, should be well groomed. Especially with the wild fire episodes over the last decade. All in all beautiful place but I despise roaches and hope I didn’t bring back any hitchhikers to my house. Will I stay again? Not sure. I wish they would acknowledge the roach problem and do something about it.

My family and friends grew up at Coloma Resort. 34 years of memories and still counting. My wife Donna and I are 67 and have been camping there since 1990. I remember meeting Fred, Marielle and daughters, Bridgette and Danielle one year after their opening. Our daughter Donelle and Danielle went to high school together. Fred and Marielle had amazing passion and vision to build not just a campground but a camping destination. Fred’s passion was intoxicating and he was always accommodating. Every time we showed up Fred had to pull me aside and show me his newest addition to the resort. I often assisted in helping to install sound systems and doing sound for the ice cream socials. The Macarena was my favorite. I felt a connection with Fred that I wish I’d pursued.
We started out tent camping, bringing all of our friends and family. I remember a rain on a major holiday that flooded us out. We left telling Fred, you can keep the tent and all the camping gear. Looking back, I have to laugh. We gradually moved up to trailers and eventually a fifth wheel. As the years past, we went through 6 trailers and expanded our camping territory. Recently we decided to reconnect with the resort since it’s only 20 minutes from home and we love the river. We reconnected with Sherri who’s always been there for us. Sherri introduced us to amazing Joey who has been very helpful with getting us sites and dates. We also had a chance to reconnect with Marielle.
We love all of the friendly staff and look forward to continue visiting Coloma Resort for years to come.
Thank you all,
Tony & Donna B
