“Dr. Janeway saved my dog's life 2 weeks ago on friday. He swallowed an acorn and it was obstructing his bowel. We had brought him in originally on a wednesday for vomiting and lethargy and didn't have quite enough money for the full recommended work up. Dr. Janeway had suspected a bowel obstruction from the beginning. First thing friday morning they got him in for worsening condition, performed an xray and informed me he needed immediate surgery. They were excellent at communicating throughout the entire process and even called to check up on my pup the following monday. I've always loved this office and with this experience I really felt like my boy was in the best hands. Thank you to the entire staff but especially to Dr. Robin Janeway? we are forever grateful❤️”

“This is the best Vet I have been to since Dr Rice in Auburn, CA. The entire staff is so calm and caring. Becky never seems to get flustered and handles the front office so well. Dr Sherriff goes beyond the call of duty to help animals. I have two old male cats, one he is treating and one we had to euthanize. He is so caring and explains everything plus gives you a nice written chart note for your records. He really goes out of his way to make my animals comfortable in their old age and I so appreciate it. What a fabulous service that he comes up to our little community a couple of times a week. Thanks again to all of this office staff.”

“The first day moving to Grass Valley, our big dog was stressed from moving and got so worked up that her throat started closing. They took care of her immediately and had her back to rights and happy. This was during covid, and they weren't taking new patients and were short staffed, and still made time for us. They had to slightly sedate her and keep her at their feet while doing surgery to keep an eye on her.
We've used them ever since and trust their every decision! Our pets are happy and healthy thanks to Best friends!”

“My older dog injured his leg getting stuck in a mole hole running down a hill. This happened at 4pm, so wasn't able to get him until the next day. I called around and grass valley vet hospital had an opening and got me in, I was super thankful because usually this type of visit has an emergency visit fee on top. It was an extremely well priced visit, and I was very pleased with the vet, Kristy, and her diagnosis of my pup. She was very good with him and treated him with love and compassion. Definitely would recommend this vet in the future!”

Dr. Mikaela was absolutely amazing and talked to my kids and I gracefully throughout the whole process. She was comforting and very patient with my sons and I couldn't have asked for a more professional and sympathetic person to help us through the difficult situation. “We rescued a purebred 7-year-old dog from a shelter in Oregon last July that came with hidden health problems including heartworms, inflamed bowels, and heart arrhythmia. Only the heartworms were revealed upon the dog's initial wellness checkup. Normally, that's all one might expect to be noticed in such a visit. So the three-month process recommended by the American Heartworm Association to eradicate the heartworms began with a 30-day course of the antibiotic Doxycycline. However, after 3-weeks the dog became critically ill. His liver began failing and Dr. Grimes suggested IV treatments at an emergency pet clinic, which are VERY expensive. We opted for home treatments of several supplements and meds; a much less expensive alternative. Our guy began to respond very positively and a few weeks later he was MUCH better. Then just before we (Dr. Grimes and us) were planning the next phase of the heartworm eradication, that would actually kill the worms, our dog took a downturn within a couple of hours that day. He collapsed on our floor and we had to carry all 60 pounds of him to the car. We rushed him to the clinic and the staff came out to the car and helped carry him directly into treatment. Dr. Hardy and ALL of the assistants immediately began triage, running tests, and providing every possible treatment to save his life. We were VERY gratified and appreciative of their amazing all-out efforts. It was strongly recommended we take him to an emergency pet clinic and the staff set us up with one of them. All the needed test results were transmitted directly to the emergency clinic, so when we arrived the staff there were able to rush into action to help our guy. The heart arrhythmia problem was revealed and the inflamed bowels were confirmed. Unfortunately, the prognosis was pretty poor, and we realized it was time to put our guy out of his misery. Sadly he was euthanized at that point, and we took him home to permanently rest on our rural property in Nevada County under a transplanted tree. All in all, we found the Animal Clinic at Lake of the Pines to be a great resource for pet healthcare. We can't say enough good about the service and staff there. Dr. Grimes gave us a call the day after our ordeal, giving us her heartfelt condolences. When we get another pet, we will definitely return for our new pets healthcare.”

“Over the weekend our dear elderly cat became very ill. We took him to an Auburn vet and they prescribed antibiotics. By Monday it was clear they were not working so I called the vet we used for years (Best Friends). The front desk told us we would have to drop him off, they didn't check with the Dr., just put up a wall. So we called Brighton Greens. At first they said there would be a $140 emergency charge and we were fine with that, but after checking they found a cancellation and got us in within two hours. After consulting with the vet we decided it was time to give our kitty relief. We were able to to be with him. It seems we may have found our new vet.”
