Gorgeous views during the hike. It takes about 4 hours to complete on a good day. Take plenty of water and start early of you can. It is downhill in and uphill out. The last part is the toughest. Nice waterfall along the way.

Go early. Wear good hiking shoes and take plenty of water. Awesome trail and the views are even better. The waterfall was dry and the cave was pretty cool. Take lots of pictures and definitely enjoy the water when you make it to the bottom.

Don't get dissuaded by the initial mile, just bear with it and carry on, you will not regret it. The trail parking is just off 174 and is small. It might get full which on weekends. The tail is ~4.5 mile one way offering impressive views of the American river. You can get down to the river at various points along the trail but only in the second half. The way in is down hill and return will be a gradual climb. Remember to take plenty of water, sunscreen, bug spray and definitely your phone for some epic pictures.

It's a scenic trail with a waterfall about 30 minutes hike down. The only drawback is that the uphill is on the way back when you are already tired. If you want to go all the way down to the river, it's a good afternoon hike....
