I love this store. As a James Hardie siding contractor, Sherwin-Williams is our go-to paint option as that is the factory paint applied to James Hardie cement fiber board. I use the Clayton store often as I live in Clayton. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. Not all Sherwin-Williams stores carry the same paint sheen, so you may want to manage your own expectations. Clayton is a smaller location but thus far they've been able to handle everything we throw their way. Where the really hit the home run is in helping my wife. We are in the process of painting our home. Using my design software we've found colors we like but would like to see the actual paint on the home. The Clayton store has been excellent in helping her with colors and samples. In a world where more is better, with more choices than we can possibly use, the staff and the Clayton store manages to stay on top of things.

I really enjoying coming here, everyone is so friendly and very helpful which I appreciate so much. I'm always able to get a great paint match which makes me very happy. I wish paint wasn't so expensive but other than that everything else with the visit went great. They do have a lot of options for brushes and accessories as well.

This store is wonderful I came in with requesting a few different specific colors of pants and they were able to get the paint I was looking for. The customer service was outstanding and the wait was not long at all. They were very helpful and friendly and I really felt valued and will definitely be coming back when looking for more paint.

We have been coming here for 5 years. I have previously had very good service. I came in today for a paint/sealant for a retaining wall. The first guy that attempted to help us, did not know what a retaining wall was and said he only had a sealant for exterior walls. Last time I checked, retaining walls were outside. As we were looking at colors, he goes and sits in the office. We made our selection and then a young women helped us. She had no clue what she was talking about and tried to sell us a primer instead. She went in and out of the office talking to the 1st gentleman, we could clearly see him sitting in the office not working on anything, but could not come to the sales floor to help. She then said that the retaining wall paint could not be tinted any colors we had chosen. She said other stores carry what we need in 5 gallons. She quotes us over $500 for the 5 gallon masonry sealant/paint. Considering all paints are 30% off right now, I find this price unbelievable. From the moment we walked in, all the staff seemed untrained, unknowledgeable and rude. I will not be going back to Sherwin Williams!

If you don't know exactly what you want, they will always suggest the most expensive item. I've been taken a couple of times.

I suggested colors to a customer of mine, some of which were by Sherwin Williams. My customer came into the store to get samples. Some colors / paints were not available. The Sherwin Williams associate then went on to tell my customer not to have colors matched at Kelly Moore, because they can't match colors well. Not sure why they felt they needed to plant a negative seed? Today I ordered paint from SW & asked them to color match BM OC- 17 White Dove...ordered a qt of Pro Classic satin & a gal of Duration interior satin. When I got back to my job & compared the color match, it was a completely different color...it was a light "yellow". I came back to Sherwin Williams with a gallon of White Dove from BM & the qt & gal from SW. The sales associate agreed that the match was no good. The sales associate took a paint sample from the BM White Dove can and said to give him 30-min. to color match. I told him to take his time that I wouldn't be back for at least an hour. When I came back (over an hour later) he told me that color was impossible to match & proceeded to tell me that Spencer from the PH store also had an excuse as to why the color could not be matched. I have had many issues with SW and only go there as a last resort. SW has a very high employee turn-over rate. There is never a manager on site & the poor employees have no idea what their 50 + different kinds of paints do or how they perform. The SW associate was nice and did the best he could, but due to lack of training he was unable to right the wrong and instead refunded the quart & gallon back to my account. They weren't able to refund my time though... Sadly, I am going to have to stop using or recommending SW paints, because I can no longer afford to have my time and family's money wasted.

I've been going here for a few months for paint since I'm painting the inside of my house. I've bought sample cans from this place so many times, including literally just yesterday - my wife goes to buy a sample can today and was turned away because they no longer sell them. Maybe they legitimately don't anymore but either way, never going back to this store.

We have been here several times to buy paint for our home interior. They have a decent amount of options as far as colors go, and they can customize colors from other places like Kelly Moore or Home Depot if you prefer to use their paint. Their space is very bright and spacious with a table where you can lay out samples and look at their catalog. As far as the staff, it really depends who's working as far as how helpful they'll be. A couple times we'd be acknowledged as soon as arriving and asked if there's anything they can do to help. And then the last time we were in there, no one spoke to us for the whole 20 minutes we were looking at samples (and we were the only customers in there). We did end up buying quite a bit, and they always help you out to your car with your purchases, but it did feel like we made all the decisions on our own. Luckily, we had a good idea of what we wanted. Their prices can also be pretty high, but I am not sure how that compares to other paint stores.
